We know how much our players value their accounts, characters and equipments in-game. We encourage our players to be protect their Account Information by following these security measures:

• Your password should be complicated but memorable.
Use at least 8 characters, and use a combination of letters (uppercase and lowercase) and numbers. Create a password that is memorable and unique to you. Do not use an easy-to-guess password and refrain from using common dictionary words and names.

We also recommend you to use Email verification system and regularly change the password of the email that you have used for your Joymax account. Use a separate email for your Joymax account and when registering for other websites.

• Joymax employees (GameMasters, Forum Moderators, Customer Support Representatives and others) will NEVER ask for your password in the game, email or other channels.
Some people tries to impersonate Joymax personnel in order to get account information. If someone claims to be working for Joymax and asks for your account information, please report to us and block that person.

• Avoid phishing websites and phishing emails
Do not enter malicious websites that might install keyloggers in your system. Also avoid visiting phishing sites that imitate Joymax portal and ask to enter personal information. Do not open phishing emails that imitate Joymax, Customer Support or GMs.
Always double check if websites are correct and redirects to the official Joymax web address. Below are the official domains of Joymax, Silkroad Online and Silkroad-R:

http://www.joymax.com/portal
http://www.joymax.com/silkroad
http://www.joymax.com/silkroad-r

Any modifications regarding the above web addresses will be announced on our Official website.

• Avoid scam and third party game services.
Please do not reveal your account information to anyone. Do not avail powerleveling services that might jeopardize your account. Former friends and powerleveling companies can regain access to your account after a period of time.
Keep in mind that there are various scam techniques to gain account information. Do not be misled by scammers, stay alert and do not provide your information to individuals or companies that offer to charge silk for your account.

• Do not use someone else’s computer.
Playing on someone else's computer (i.e. internet café) increases the chances of getting hacked. If you play in an internet cafe, make sure that the computer that you are using is safe and do not leave any traces of your information.

• Never download suspicious files and do not use illegal programs.
Illegal programs are usually bundled with trojans or keyloggers that will compromise your account information. A keylogger (a.k.a keystroke logger) is a program that allows a hacker to secretly track all activities of your computer and automatically send logs through e-mail or FTP.

Same with viruses or Trojans, all information such as passwords, email accounts, bank information, credit card number, documents, and other confidential data stored on the infected computer might be hacked.

Spyware and keystroke loggers are usually downloaded as a side effect of user’s action (opening an attachment/downloading programs/ installing untrusted plug ins). Therefore, the safest way would be not downloading any suspicious files.

Furthermore, do not use any illegal program alongside Silkroad Online client and do not use any tools to alter the client. Players do not need any program/ bots or multiclients to execute the game. Any claims by the software provider that their program is official, or accepted by Joymax and many customers, is just a marketing tactic. Use of illegal programs only makes the player vulnerable to identity and account theft.

• Install anti-virus and anti-spyware.
You should install anti-virus and anti-spy software in your computer. These programs will also block Trojans/malwares from being installed in your system. We also recommend to regularly scan your computer for malicious threats and vulnerabilities.

• Frequently update your system and software.
We recommend our users to periodically update your Internet browsers, as well as antivirus and anti spyware programs in order to protect your computer and account from the newest hacks and viruses.

Noteworthy to include:

STAY TUNED TO OTHER NEWS
Keep abreast of the news about needed password changes. The latest "hacking" last February 23 should have been a warning for a some players I know, but they still did not change their passwords. Ignore this post if not interested.
