Saw this on Wowhead forums.
You know, I don't understand why everyone's being so glib about this.
The original poster had a valid complaint.
People are jumping. All the time.
Respectfully, I don't think that all of you are really considering the ramifications of this. Of playing World of Warcraft with everyone jumping all the time. That's fine. I'll explain it to you.
From a technical standpoint:
Most of us, regardless of what server we play on, have experienced some serious latency at some point or another. Lag issues, and whatnot. In case you haven't figured it out? All of this latency is, I assure you, directly related to jumping.
Now, these characters we play in the games? Especially the males? You'll note that they are, for the most part, tall and heavily muscled. 200 lbs, easy. Now, imagine what happens when just one - just one - of them jumps up, and lands. Especially if it's - god forbid - a fury warrior. Plate armor? Titan's Grip with maces? That's gotta be another hundred pounds, easy.
Twelve million play the game. Let's be conservative, and say that this only applies to male human fury warriors jumping up and down all the time. So, something like 10,000. Jumping up and down, all the time. Do you have any idea how much force that generates? All going directly into the ground?
Surely, the resultant shockwave that's generated is so colossal that it seriously damages the infrastructure of Blizzard's own servers.
...what's that, you say? It doesn't work like that? Well, I doubt you have enough training in Anaheim to Azerothian Avatar Aeronautical Applications to try to correct me on that. Moving on.
Arthas is taken care of. Yogg'Saron is taken care of. Etc. But in case you haven't noticed? Cataclysm is coming up. And we have to deal now with Deathwing, Master of the Black Dragonflight. And do you know why? Do you know what roused him from his slumber?
People jumping up and down all the time.
The same way that if you have upstairs neighbors, you can hear if they jump up and down? Exactly.
You keep going with your glib remarks. But the facts are there, people. Jumping woke up Deathwing. Ergo,
the act of jumping will literally rend Azeroth asunder.
I mean, seriously. Do I need to spell it out for you? Disconnected? Jumping. Items not proccing? Jumping. Bad roll? Jumping. Guild issues? Jumping. Can't find anyone on your server who can just make those stupid
bracers so you can finally gear up your alt to tank some of ICC and get some gear? I guarantee -
guarantee - you that the blacksmith you're looking for is either having to deal with someone else jumping, or is jumping, himself.
So, while you may all scoff and snicker and think maybe the original poster needs to concerns himself less with something that doesn't have any discernible impact on his gameplay (down the street in Dalaran? Really) and perhaps cut back on the Red Bull? I say to you he is, most assuredly, a prophet.
Surely, he will lead us the land of milk any honey, where the streets are paved with gold, and no one can jump at all because we soldered their feet to the ground.
