Looks good.
The only thing that bothers me w/ HDR is that the clouds look dirty lol.

Yeah.. I'm gonna get that fixed soon. I've been shooting in .jpg/bracket exposures. I'm gonna start toying around with RAW files next time I go out to shoot. That should fix the "dirty" cloud look or at least make it less noticeable. Hopefully it's going to be much smoother with RAW. Especially since it takes forever to fucking process them.

OMG amazing, I love them. Ur so totally pro.

Oh my god I really want like a huge picture on canvas from some skyline in my living room and bedroom later on...

Inky, if you EVER go to Hong Kong, make me one in B&W would you?

But these are also very very nice, I think I'll steal one from you sometime and have it huge'd out.

Thanks :)

I was actually planning to stop by Hong Kong when I visit the Philippines. Not anytime soon but in the future. I'll be shooting in RAW format for most of my work now so supersizing the prints shouldn't be a problem. It'll get rid of the ghosting problem I have in those hdr photos too. I'm just in the learning phase right now.

I'm gonna hit the parks and maybe even upstate or jersey when the leaves start turning red. Also some snow photos. :D

I can enable the prints in my deviantart if you want to purchase a printed copy. Just let me know which one you want.

Yeah it does.

The other one you did also had more color, more life to it.

BTW, I also LOVE the skies/clouds in the shots. No matter what others say.

And OMG I love you so much if you make a shot of the Hong Kong skyline...

You see, it's not that hard to become my favorite member on these forums, huh?

Ur also a lucky bitch that you can actually see red leaves.

All the trees I've seen here till now are either still green or are already nekkid, and only brown leaves... No romantic orange/red glow in the afternoon sun, but the weather just totally sucks lately. only hard winds, rain, terribly low temperatures and grey skies but at night the skies are really clear...

Lol fall came a bit late this year. I went to Long Island City Pier (Queens, NY) earlier with the rest of the photography club. I'll try to produce a shot or two by this weekend, or maybe later tonight if I'm not feeling that lazy.

I wouldn't mind taking a shot of the HK skyline. Buy me a plane ticket lol.

But I definitely would take a trip there if I ever go back to the Philippines for vacation. I saw some pictures by one of the photographers I follow around and holy shit, they look fuckin amazing.

Thanks.

Side Note:
Processing the last one was a fucking pain in the ass. The finished full-size 16-bit .TIF file is 800Mb (layers included). Unlike the first three, the 4th one was taken from a single RAW format frame and "developed" it into three separate images that I used for HDR tone mapping.

I've missed this thread somehow.

The field of vision in the first one--I love it! what were you standing on, a bridge? I kind of want to see it with the contrast slightly pumped. The HDR already makes it so vivid that it makes me feel if I were to stick my hand out it would go right through my screen and into that world, but I still can't help but feel it would look great with a little more contrast.

On that same token love "Downtown Seaport" it has the most perfect cool hues. Mostly editing or was it just the perfect time of day?

Thanks for the tips. I'll keep the contrast in mind.

Yeah, first one was taken from a bridge. Had to stick my camera lens through the metal bars and hold on to it in order to avoid any obstructions and did my 3 exposures.

For the Brooklyn Bridge, I went with a friend of mine to the 3rd floor balcony of some building at the edge of the pier. The other ones were taken from the ground.

As for the Downtown Seaport shot, it's a combination of both. The sun was almost gone by that time so it was slightly dark already. But in order to get better results, I had to change the temperature of the image via PMatrix and a little retouch in PS (color burn + others).

Side Note:
Spoiler!

Time the F out!! You can do HDR with a single RAW image?

Yep. RAW is the equivalent of a digital negative. So you can "develop" it into any exposure and you can tweak everything like shadows, highlights, colors, brightness, etc. That means you can have as many exposures/settings of a single image as you want without having to shoot the same frame twice (as you do in AEB). It also completely removes any signs of "ghosting," which means you can do HDR on moving subjects - some of the best HDRs I've seen were from motor sports that had sand clouds flying all over the place. I usually shoot a slightly underexposed RAW image if I want to use it for HDR.

I use Digital Photo Professional (DPP) to "develop" my RAW files.

Sample:

Why do you underexpose? I can see the negatives to overexposing, but I don't quite see the positives to underexposing.

Doesn't really matter but I normally (*slightly*) underexpose to make sure I capture any subtle details of the sky that might show up as blown-out highlights if I did a normal/over exposure shot. I know it won't really matter that much for HDR but I just find slight underexposure to show more details. I find it easier to "correct" underexposure that only requires the colors to be more highlighted rather than trying to grab details out of a blown-out highlight (all white).

Technically it's getting correct exposure for the brightest area of the picture. So let's say the brightest part of the sky would be at 0 (correct exposure), the buildings would probably be at -1.5 (underexposed).

By the way, anyone here had any experience in Infrared Photography?

I wanna try it with both film and digital. Got a couple of film rolls for my K1000. =)

Thanks =D

I might try this in some willow tree-infested area one of these days. Saw one near my college but there's only 3 random willow trees and it's a 20-minute walk.
