http://www.joymax.com/silkroad/silkroad ... ntMain.aspSo after a bunch of concept drawings and thinking I finally came up with a theme I liked. Surprised it didn't hit me right away since it's something I've always wanted when I did play sro but Steampunk, I am one, I love them, they're awesome. So after getting halfway through with the sketch I decided I would document the progress here on SRF and if any of the users had some suggestions they would be free to do so--hell, who knows, we could win and then there will be an outfit that you can proudly say you had a part in.
Female only for now, will have male versions up soon--hopefully. Rough SketchThe upper body is where the true "Steampunk" will shine with the idea pending in my head but you can already see it taking shape with the tailcoat, pinstripe, gears and the gunknife hanging off her side. I was thinking for the traditional outfit "weapon" I would do the classic steam powered jetpack. Completed Rough Sketch Greyscale/LineartInstead of cell shading decided to digipaint it so the inking is just going to be used as guidelines now. There is detail that I'm planing on painting in and isn't in the lineart so that's my excuse for the blandness at the moment. Last minute ideas and modifications before the final painting process. Which I will doooo......uhhh..*look over there!*
75% Done

Goggles, Tophat, Goggles + Tophat?
Maybe females can have the goggles and the men can have tophats. lol
Not sure how the Jetpack would look like though. Well for female I had a monocle-esque eyepiece with tophat combo I drew out--of course with that retro future steampunk look to it. For male a plague doctor mask inspired goggle and tophat combo. I'll scan and post them when I can so you can see for yourself. So I was sizing up the competition but could only findonly find one entry thus far.... seems our chances of winning just went out the window though and here I was planing on throwing something SRF related into the design. Oh well.

Depends on my mood. I'll be doing the lineart in Illustrator for sure but if I'm up for it I'll colour it as well.

Hmm, I like it a lot, Though the left boot's back seems out of it.
Since it's shorter then the right boot, it should've fit the heel tightly in stead of loose.
I do like how the rest falls and the overall design of the boots.

Thanks.
Yeah, the left boot has two portions to it the outer which forms the heel and the inner which hugs the ankle down to the base of the foot. I'll probably try to make that more clear when I do the line art.

I know right? They make my heart melt. Anyway I forgot to keep up with this thread and started doing the lineart in Illustrator already but fear not I posted the final rough draft. If anyone is interested I've drawn the jetpack, hat, gunknife and boots separately in different, more revealing, angles. Gladiator_RN wrote: If you win, i'm gonna buy your avatar! Lol, thanks.

But you gotta remember that SRO likes giving boob jobs to their female characters lol Haha! While drawing I was thinking to myself "oh man, these tits are no where big enough for the horndogs that play sro,". xD

So, these are the things that worry me in the design. Purple: Boobs way too small. Green: SRO likes gloves/braces that stuff.. needs something on the arm too. Blue @ croch(I thought I used yellow but w/e) Falls weird, something just seems off for some reason. Blue@ heel + purple and red: My worries concerning what I said earlier. The left boot is too loose on the ankle, which looks weird considering the height difference between the left and right boot. For the rest: AWESOME DESIGN MAN.

I plan on doing the hands I just started wearing down the sheet of paper I was working on form erasing so decided to finish it digitally. Boobs, got it, from a B to a C. I don't quite follow you with the boots--her left knee is bent and leaning slightly towards the back, essentially she's on her tippy toes, so that purple line should be on a 45° angle ina accordance with her ankle. Anyway, thanks for the feedback I'll probably have the lineart up soon and that should make the design nice, clean, clear and crisp.

Ahhh, I see where you're coming from but thanks to your drawing ( which is very cute btw ) I also see the misunderstanding. You've missed the structure of the boot, that darker portion with the stripes is also apart of it--both your drawings combined is the actually what that boot looks like. I do have a side to side sketch laying here somewhere that shows off the boots more clearly. If I find it I'll post it. inky wrote: The monocle would look great on a regular model but not sure how it would look like on an in-game avatar. Might wanna reconsider simplifying it if anything. Maybe a regular monocle with thick frames with markings similar to a camera lens. Kind of like a focus ring lol.
I have a feeling you're gonna see Sucker-Punch on premiere night lol. Oh, man, good idea. I can totally see something camera lens influenced there. Especially a shutter like this; I also see your point of it being an ingame costume--too much detailing will get lost and for something so small, maybe a simple cross hair marked monocle would be best? Also, got caught up in some work things so haven't had a change to progress but if I'm up for it tonight I'll try to do something for those of you following this thread.

I might even steal your idea of having those super sharp heels--poke eyes out! inky wrote: I have a feeling you're gonna see Sucker-Punch on premiere night lol. Whoops, I replied to this 'in my head' but I guess I forgot to type it out. lol I don't know about premiere since I hate going to the movies alone (who doesn't?) but all of my friends are god damn sloths who get hyped up to do something all week but when the moment comes they all forget they had "school, work, something, homework" or occasionally when it's me doing the "flopping", SLEEP!. However, I am super stoked for this movie--I love outrageous themes but it's a shame that they are rarely executed well so I really want "SuckerPunch" to be good.

Hmm, can't wait for SuckerPunch!
I hope it'll be the best movie till then, since the last movies I saw were plain disappointing.
Especially thanks to 3D. I think a 3D movie should be seen with surround screens, then it'll really pop out since Avatar, Alice nor Airbender didn't really do anything for me...

Really? That's a shame. I was actually pretty fond of it--wasn't exactly an "outfit" and more of a re-skin but still it was good.

He is, and he definately don't need a sucky sro competition where he looses all copyrights to his picture when he is releasing his own artbooks
