i hated the arm mbed module on my course namely because the owners of arm mbed were pushing their new os stopped support for their old os and new one kept having bugs...real pain in the ass took us days just to get a damn real time clock that could be updated working as things changed from the documentation.

Reckon I'll laze around for a little while, then I guess I'll have to start looking for jobs :(
I could do a master's, but the way it's set up over here, It'd take me another 2-3 years at minimum, so it's not really tempting. Also just not really necessary either :/

There's a pretty big shortage of programmers and engineers over here, so finding jobs supposedly is pretty easy and pays nicely.

Nice :)

And yeah, programmers are needed everywhere right now. Well, good programmers that is. Hopefully you'll find something soon then.

For me:
Left the states to go to university.
Currently on the last leg of medical school.
No gaming PC ATM, bought a PS4, not as much playing as I used to.
Took up BJJ, currently an average blue.
Been hitting the gym and caring about my diet these past years; currently at the point where I'm getting stares in public/tinder is ezmode/guys ask me for advice at the gym.
Started liking cigars.
Don't smoke weed anymore. Don't drink.

I used to like anime and gaming, but it seems like there aren't any shows/games that I can get into as much as SRO or some of the other games I used to play(remember Carpe Diem?). I can still mentally play back my grinding playlist from SRO days.

It seems that the people who know me now would be hard-pressed to believe I used to be the kid spending hours on his computer playing games with friends he met online.
Most of us have been affected by this place in a positive light, and it has had an incredible impact on our lives.

This community, and the friends I made but never met, have had a role in molding me into the person I am today. The lessons taught while in a caravan, in a guild, or in the OTL are (embarrassingly so) some of my fondest memories. You guys helped me get through some of the worst moments of my childhood. I thank you from the depth of my heart for that.

SRF is as a monument, a testament to the power of friendship, and an ember reminding us of those shared moments we once enjoyed.
That is why every so often I come back to the place I spent most of my childhood alone in my room, alone yet not alone, and gaze.

Wow lets see...

Since I last posted in here in 2011...
Time flies by so Farking quick, it's hard to believe I graduated high school 8 years ago.

2018:
- Traveling to Singapore
- Still working 2 jobs
- Start saving for a house/condo
- Need to decide if I want to stick with very sought after gov't job with an amazing retirement plan, or stick with retail company and move up and up and up and up and potentially make a lot more than I would in the gov't

Hi all.... been a while!

I definitely miss the good old SRO days.

I finished University, got married and now have 5 dogs.

I own my own business that makes about a million revenue a year. So very proud of this accomplishment.

I work a lot (60-70 hours a week if I want/need to), but also have the option the relax when needed. I still play computer games here and there. CSGO mainly. Looking into getting back into mmorpgs... but nothing beats the good old SRO. So much nostalgia...

Cheers!

Congratulations on getting married, btw! And on the business - that's huge, man! What field is the business in?

I hate to admit it, but I can't remember exactly what you're referring to with that transactions.
Nice - trying to get a business off the ground myself too. Getting there :)

Possibly may have found out that some guy in my guild was arrested for child pornography or something along those lines...and realize that I was only in middle school playing this game at the time

Not sure if anybody remembers me but I was an active user here at one point during high school when I played SRO. 10 years later, I'm a working software engineer at a startup. Time flies by so fast.
