You could DIY, as far as the assembly goes. Saves you 70$ you can spend on a better video card, if the computer is going to be used for a lot of gaming. Maybe you can squeeze in a GTX 560Ti in there somehow. 8 GB of RAM would also be nice, sometimes 4 GB isn't exactly enough. When I have SC2 open, some Chrome tabs, Skype and foobar2000, I use about 5 GB of RAM. If you would only have 4 GB, Windows would have to page all the time, which you really don't want with a mechanical hard drive. Paging slows down everything. Otherwise, the build looks good, I think.

for that ram... i would use 32bit windows 7 if you go to 64 i recommend 8gb ram
usually when u buy a processor it comes with a cpu heatsink... unless you are overclocking or heavily gaming for long periods of time... the stock cpu cooler will be fine.

save the assembly cost and buy a slightly better gfx card... the processor is good because unless you go up to i7 you really wont be getting much for your money...

I'll tell you this much, that computer is not worth $1,000

You can build an $800 decent computer, and then $100 for home premium and $70 for your labor

You put together a decent computer for the price margin given to you. I would however try to double the amount of RAM to 8 Gigs by sacrificing something else (like Hard Drive space)...Or try to find cheaper parts to have money for more RAM.

FYI, MSY is an Australian computer store so the prices are higher than mos of the rest of the world. MSY is pretty much the cheapest source of parts in Australia sadly. So take that into consideration when you say it's "not worth the money".

Try save on the labour, just do it yourself. YouTube is a grand help if you have no idea what your doing.

Don't think he would want to get vista since it's pretty outdated and wasn't that good imo. Might just find a cracked version and save some money there lol.
I suppose 8gb ram might be the way to go. Not that much extra anyway
As far as building it i dont really wanna risk stuffing something up but i think i know someone who might be able to do it for me so yeh...
Also it will be used for gaming so might upgrade the GFX card.
Thanks for the responses.

Too expensive for what you are getting. Shop around more..you'll find much better deals than that..

I'd cut out prices to get a better GPU. Hell I'm sure you can put together a $1100 computer that includes a gtx680
