Iirc that's their 5th Olympic gold in a row.

The names at the top — the U.S., China, Britain, France, etc. — have hardly been shocking. They're among the world's biggest and most developed countries and have always done well in Olympic sports. But if you level the playing field — and account for such things as the size of a country and its GDP per capita — the contest for Olympic bragging rights becomes less clear-cut. Some countries are able to do relatively more with less: they outperform based on the number of athletes they sent to London or because of their smaller population base.
So how does the performance of Grenada — an island nation of a little more than 100,000 that claimed a gold medal with a team of just nine athletes — compare to the Olympic giants? Well, it depends on how you rank the IOC nations. Well.. that's interesting, to say the least. lulz

Closing ceremony is kinda lame. tbh it looks like all the singers are lip syncing. English culture is so lame..all the pop culture seem like American mini-me's and theater is so lame they had to bring in Indian cultural dances to make it interesting...

I thoroughly enjoyed the Olympics this year. Pretty dang entertaining through out the whole thing. I just have a few questions...
1. When is China ever going to get a basketball team so we can rape them at that sport too?
2. When is American football going to be added as an official Olympic sport?
Looking forward to Rio. I'll be 24 then. Damn.

How many countries do even have American football? It's basically only America so there wouldn't be enough teams to participate in the olympics. Even if there were, USA would basically win all the time so there would be no excitement.

American Football is too expensive? Man, American Football isn't much more expensive than just real football. American Football isn't in the Olympics because it's American Football. The real sport, Rugby, is in fact practiced all over the world and will be included in 2016. Nobody plays American Football outside of America, so it doesn't serve much purpose in the Olympics.

Actually there's two countries that play American style football outside of the USA, don't think Canada counts, wish I could remember which two countries it is.

Rhythmic Gymnastics, and all types of equestrian don't deserve to be an Olympic sport. I got no other ideas, but they aren't even sports... At least rhythmic gymnastics takes skill...
Good Olympics overall, just wish they showed the good events in full (like 100m, 4x100m relay, some swimming I guess), and not just highlights in Australia. It was like they were skipping channels between sports, and that was annoying.

I'm not a fan of American "Hand Egg" at all. So I wouldn't like to see it as part of the Olympics...There are too many boring sports in the Olympics already. Don't need another one...Plus the fact that America would probably dominate would make even more boring.... Football is quite a bit more entertaining the soccer and basketball. With Soccer, nothing happens for half the game. Basketball is the complete opposite with it being over saturated with high scoring points that each "score" means very little in the grand scheme of things. Football is a perfect compromise between the two. With enough scoring to keep it interesting, without having too much to make it boring.

Football doesn't count on the Olympics. The maximum age of the footballplayers has to be 23, with the exception of 3 of each team. So it's not the national team that plays, but the Olympic team. And just so that you know, the FIFA World Cup is the biggest sportevent in the world, even bigger then the Olympics, and it's only about one sport
