I need a music player for my phone (running android Jellybean 4.2.2... I think?) that sorts and lists the song by filename rather than the title.

I always sort my music as "artist - song.mp3" without really bothering to fill out the rest of the details like artist/title etc. Or rather when I fill in those details I attach additional meanings to them like song name in the original language or the name of the original artist instead of the remixer. Sorting the files by anything that isn't the filename slows down the browsing process significantly in window's explorer for some reason.

Anyway, the default music player on android seems to use the title tag of the file as it's sorting reference so I end up with a bunch of scattered kanji gibberish for some of my japanese music. I need a better player, that will just utilize the filename. Does anyone know of such a player?

bonus points if playlist management is easier too. Adding songs one by one to playlists is a huge pain in the ass...

I primarily use streaming services such as Spotify on my phone, but I've previously used both:
DoubleTwist Player: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... roidPlayer

PowerAMP: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... udioplayer

However, I do not know if any of those apps fulfill your requirements.

Downloading Doubletwist right now, so I can check it out.

PowerAMP is a trial unfortunately :/
_____

alas, Doubletwist is basically identical to the default media player :(

Figured there's no point in trying it if it's just a 1-month trial. I would never pay for it anyway =_=
I'd probably sooner make an application for it myself D:

That's definitely an improvement. The folder tab seems to sort in the correct order using the filenames. However it still displays the title and artist D:

But it's a step in the right direction. This one's a keeper for now. it's also nice that it can be set to not jump to player mode when a song is selected.

I am still open for suggestions though.

It's not really a major issue, but I get the feeling my battery usage has risen about 5~12% due to rocket player. Is it known to be a battery hog?

Generally, I have found many "players" to be battery hogs, yes. I have no specific experience with Rocket Player, though. Sorry :)

Might've found out the cause.
It had an option which could be disabled. It played music automatically whenever a plug was inserted. The option requires the service to run all the time. I haven't had a chance to test it out yet. But it sounds like a reasonable possibility. Shame though :/. It was a pretty nice On/Off button.
