orador wrote: I remember the 80 cap where people were waiting to be come level 20 and get the job outfits. Level 20 was a great achievement for a new player and the 1-star trading for some serious money would begin. You would always have to be carefull for 1-star poppers: High level thiefs that had a transport full of items that would put their transport near yours so that their npc thiefs would kill your transport and they could steal ur goods. When your goods were stolen and you went back to leveling after the dissapointment, often high level hunters whispered me, telling me that they killed a thief that dropped my goods. THey would tell me where the goods were and protect me Then you reached level 30. That was really big. If you reached level 30 you were with the big guys. Silkroad was so fun back then. It died quickly after the 80 cap. This! I like this thread. When I return to this site, I always take a look at some old 2006 screenshots to get that feeling back.

aaaaah. sweet memories of old.
For some reason today, I returned here after abandoning the game. Wish there was a community today. Or at least an influx of new players to start a new community.

Well theres some Project now, based on some Engine i guess Unity3D? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOZBceig224As you can see in the Video, there is the Buddha Statue from Donwhang. If this Succeeds ya, you will know the result. The Name needs to be changed also wint0r buys Scripts/Models/other stuff from the Peoples who made the Engine.

I have thought about remaking SRO on a better engine and stuff. Glad to see someone finally got around to doing so. I can see in the trailer that the buildings don't match(architecture of different cultures in one place lol) and the textures and models are a bit weird for such an engine, but this is just the beginning. The end result can be quite amazing once this gets done.

I would be for the "White Engine" looks way better but only Square Enix got it ... The Graphic is just stunning, having these Attacks from Final Fantasy XIII like a little Water Ball goes to the Enemy and than suddenly a huge Water Splash appears. Q_Q I personally would die for that Engine xD

Nah it's a Single Player Game on the PS3. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJBKsXVeRD0Skip to 1:00 and you see that Water Attack. Such "Huge" Explosion Skills is the thing I'm missing in mostly Games or MMORPG's. Compared to the Earth Quake in SRO ... theres a huge difference xD

That water attack wasn't that bad. Kinda like Blizzard in SRO, but with a lot more detail.

Hello everyone, indeed the silkroad community has decreased consideable but i have to disagree with what some of you posted. Maybe the old caps had fun in their balance gampeplay and original loved version but every game needs an update to survive the scene. 9D was a good cap, even 10d, maybe they dropped the ball with 11 12 13 and so on but i wouldn't say that those updates killed it. The game is old and never had a HUGE community. I still play on Seidenkraft Apollo and they are 9d and want to make it 10d ch only and it is and still will be fun. It's still a fun time for old players, maybe new too but i doubt that.

Yes every game needs updates. But if the update is just a cap increase, then it only makes it worse if there are many of those updates. JoyMax's idea of a good MMO is wrong in that matter.

Long time I hadn't checked here and I probably won't come back in a good while, but I went to WoW and never looked back. F2P sucks badly.

I actually just became aware of the update that gives players skill reset, stat reset and makes leveling easier. I re downloaded SRO and playing again. let's see how long this time lasts lol.
EDIT: I just noticed that my 100million gold is all gone.. every single item in my storage as well.. All I have are the items that I had equipped and in my inventory, is this a bug, or part of the update?

There was a server merge and after merging servers, people had to take stuff out of their old storage and put it into the new one. That's why your stuff is gone. And imo, this update just made things worse.

In fact those alts I hadn't logged onto for over a year and thought they would have been deleted by now.

That right there is just a huge kick in the nuts for us old veterans who haven't played in years. Come back to play our beloved old game (which has been destroyed...) and all the stuff we worked hard to collect is just... gone.

I still had my gold. So what did I do? Made a new account just to get the perks (premium, pig, certain scrolls every 10 levels) and then transferred my gold over. muahahahahaha. who says you can't have gold below level 70. also turned my hybrid bower into a full str. heck. I might start a guild with this gold.

I agree completely on this post. I've been a part of this forum ever since the very early days of Silkroad, so much has changed both in the forums and in Silkroad. During the 70 cap, Silkroad was at its peak. The Triangular conflict was amazing back then. I remember training at chakjis or white tigers and there would be lv 5x-6x doing large trades. I also remember when there would be huge fights between major guilds in the servers, Guild wars was so common back then that it was the reason I wanted to keep leveling, so I could fight with the big dogs.
It makes me sad that Silkroad came this far and has not improved very much. :[

good times, had played the game since 2005 and have done virtually everything in this game but true that the game started dying after cap 70/80. I played till 100 then quit for good, honestly had never been stuck to any game longer than to this one. Anyone remembers flamewars on silkroadtavern ? LMAO )))
