To be honest... SRO was THE perfect game for me. If it was managed properly and there were no bots... What game DOES NOT have bots.. is my question?!

Then to this day, I'd still be playing this beautiful game.

Graphics, PvP, PvE and jobbing.. all good for me.

Maybe it's just nostalgia ... SRO was my first ever MMORPG and any other games I played didn't and couldn't ever compare to the feeling when I was playing SRO.

Sometimes I feel the urge to play SRO but then I remember how farked up Joymax is. **** them :nowant:

Guild wars 2 was pretty neat.
Also Silkroad has great potential,
the time i enjoyed it the most was when i was a young naive child, not knowing anything about how a game can be broken. never got to enjoy the 70-80 cap as a good player, but sure as hell enjoyed it as a noob.

Guild wars 2 is the game i've played for 1,5 years with an amazing guild. this was a better experience for me than Silkroad has been since late 2007. And it means a lot since i am alot more critical now.
The only thing about guild wars 2 is that it became a farm for aesthetics. This is better than a gear treadmill but i didnt really feel like advancing towards a goal in the end. I think endgame should have more competetive content. PVP was okay but not the best system to manage it, it would be nice if you could actually gain levels in there. WvWvW was amazing to join in. Had great times there. Though it felt like it didnt really matter what you did in there since the camps were more like trades for capturing xp. Still almost flawless system. Had a great time, quit it to get my priorities straight. Now i want to play an mmo but can't decide since most of them have started off, hard to join in again. And GW2 is not really worth the effort for me i think.

I'd like to find and play a MMORPG that is in open beta. But at the moment, I don't know if there is any good ones out there.

I want an open beta, so I can grow with the game. Don't know how to explain the feeling, but for me it's more fun to play a game while it's still growing rather than join a game that has been established for an X number of years already.

I think when I joined SRO back in 2006, it was still relatively new.

If you miss SRO try playing Archeage...Best SRO replacement out there...

OT:

My ideal MMORPG:

1) Has stunning graphics
2) No character leveling (Time to end that outdated practice)
3) Skill based leveling (You level up your abilities from simply using the ones you've chosen to level up)
3) Vast environment (Huge, take a week in real time to traverse one of the continent in it)
4) Tons of skills (Obtained in various ways, NPCs, skills books, hidden skills scrolls, rare skills scrolls, ultra rare skills scrolls scattered throughout the game)
5) Lots of gear customization (Create your own unique look whatever it may be at any time. Nobody has to ever look the same)
6) Not quest dependent (You advance whether quest or no quest. Especially since there is no character leveling)
7) Tons of crafting (Weapons, vehicles, armor, etc)
8.) All modes of traveling possible (Land, Sea and Air)
9) PVP driven (PVP on Land, Sea and Air)
10) Incorporates SIM features like house building, farming, fishing, hunting, merchants, artistry for those that prefer a care bear type experience.
11) Lots of dungeons with not only boss fights but puzzles to figure out and unlock
13) No monster gold drops (Anything that makes money is harvested from all types of sources and crafted into items that are then sold for gold)
14) Clan PVP, Guild PVP, Faction PVP, Country PVP, Nation PVP
15) Player establish Clan, Guild, Faction, Nation, Country
16) A consistent and solid BOT banning program
17) Mini games such as sports games, gambling, chess, checkers etc (Any mini game that a player wants)
18) Semi intelligent mobs that don't just stand around in one place for all eternity. (They migrate based on food supply. They don't watch you attack one of their own without either running away or attacking you in groups)
19) The ability to choose a permanent death mode for your character with good trade offs such as being more powerful.
20) Player made quests. Such as putting a bounty on another player's head. or having another player hunt mobs for you for a fee.
21) Full and complete weather system (Rain, sun, snow can happen in any one area. Not just snow only one area)
22) Every possible climate (Jungle, desert, Tropics etc)
23) The ability for a clan, guild, faction, etc to fight and capture territory and use it build a fortress, town, kingdom etc.
24) The ability for a clan, guild, faction etc to siege and/or destroy a fortress, town, kingdom etc.

Can't think of anymore at the moment....

That hot garbage is nothing like a real Elder Scrolls game. It's a generic, boring MMO based within the same world.

Just loaded it up for the first time yesterday. Only got to play through the first few quests and get to learn the skill system. So far, so good.
I don't know if it's a game I'll keep playing. It's free to play now (or rather: buy to play), so there's really no cost involved with playing it for a while, which is what I plan to do. I'll give it a fair chance :)

I played it for a while, got to about level 40 and found it mind-numbingly dull.

I somewhat agree, But.. monsters not dropping anything>> It would be boring.
Well, what would you suggest instead then?

You kill mobs to gather their hide, fur, bones, scales etc to process and craft into something useful (armor parts, weapons) which can then be sold for gold... No more gold miraculously falling out of a mob's wallet after you kill it...That concept is getting old and is a bit retarded...

A pretty good idea.. As long as the price isn't increased!

About ksro I don't know. I can't login there anymore. However I managed to play jsro and I love it. I had regular PTs since Penons there. It's more active than all the stupid bot pservers.^^

Seriously? These versions have no bots? Is it because of the culture (ie. they don't like cheating?) or is it that bots get banned?

Btw, how were you able to find PTs? they spoke English as well?

They are banning bots actively there and cheating in Battle Arena is punished as well (like logging multiple characters for BA coins). You don't find many English speaking people there but from time to time you can find some.

About PTs? Well, I join them through PT matching. I found PTs since Penons there, not everyday but regularly. And the PTs are the best you find in any sro (atleast for me^^).

It's a mix, I would say.
Might have something to do with the culture. But yes, they do ban bots. But additionally, it's just really hard to figure out how to play there as a non-Japanese player, so the "bot-building" community never really joined there (luckily).

Parties in the party matching usually use rather simple words like "warrior needed" etc. and it doesn't take long to learn what that looks like in Japanese. Also, some (few) of the Japanese players actually speak English. But yeah, you come a long way with knowing just a few Japanese words. You'll learn them along the way.
