A character has Magic Balance and Physical Baqlance
and they seeem to change as you rise in levels. What is it and is lower better or higher better?..

Also on many items (weapons?) you can see it has Degrees 1 or Degrees 4.. What are degrees?.. how do they work and what do they do...

Item sets are organized by degree. For instance, the fourth degree glavies all look the same - three ring, four ring, and five ring glavie. The only reason the degree is important is for buying lucky powders for alchemy (must have matching degree powder to use on an item) or using a gender switch item (can only switch certain degree or lower items).

Magical and physical balance are determined by your STR, INT, and level. The more STR you have, the higher your physical balance, and the more physical damage you will deal. The more INT you have, the higher your magical balance, and the more magical damage you will deal. Magic balance tends to be higher, so if your STR and INT are equal your balances will not be equal. Adding to one balance does not lower the other balance.
