Hey guys, here's an update from Monterato. Seems like this may be sooner than expected.
"Hey everyone,
I think it'd be nice for you to get a small update to see on what we're working right now, what is planned and how everything will be progress in the next few days/weeks.
First of all, the server won't go down during we transfer everything to vsro files and I'm glad to tell you that we've prepared the test server today and that we can start working now.
What will be saved?
We'll save your character data. This means that you'll definitely get back the following things:
-Level
-Skillpoints
-EP
I'm not sure yet if we can simply copy & paste your skills and mastery data, if this is not the case, we'll compensate you with a suitable amount of skill points for sure.
Furthermore we COULD restore your items, though it would be quite time consuming as we'd have to rebuild it "manually". We will see what we can do, it depends on how much time is "left" and how long it'll take in the end.
How long will the file switch probably take?
We're confident that the whole transfer will be done within 1 - 2 weeks. Normally it takes very much longer to create a server, test bugs, test balance, check if everything works as it should but due to the fact that we transfer the server instead of creating a new one we'll save time here.
What will be new with vsro files?
You can expect several new things that will improve your gameplay, thereby we don't mean that you'll find tons of new features, it's more about things like this:
- In-game auto potion (T)
- Working stalls / stall network / exchange
- More quests with better rewards
- More available client resolutions
- Higher server stability
- More useful items in event mall
- More ways to receive EP/items of event mall
- Others, that I might don't have in mind right now
Will there be any changes to the general server policies?
The server will still be:
- NON-Bot
- Play2Win (no donations for EP/gold/sp/etc.)
- Original gameplay
Let me make something clear at this point. It's not and never been the intention to simply create a 1:1 copy of Silkroad. Even with ecsro/isro files we had the plan to improve things and use the full potential. But we think that there is a huge difference between adding new content and over-editing things or if you use consiting potential and content of the game.
We think Silkroad is an amazing game which actually offers A LOT but unfortunately Joymax never really succeeded in using the potential that their updates had. We want to use this preexisting potential to maximize the enjoyment of Phoenix Online without breaking with that what most of you would name "classic/original gameplay". You can be sure that we'll continue developing at the same level of dedication and love as before; and for sure we won't do any major changes before we talked about it with you, our valued community.
I hope that I've been able to answer most of your question for now, if you still have some question then you shouldn't hesitate to contact the team. Feel free to contact us in-game, on forum or just write your question in this thread and we'll send you a PM back (We won't approve posts because we want to keep the thread clean).
Best regards, Phoenix Online Team
Note: We'll keep updating this thread
Note2: Please understand that I cannot answer all question by myself currently since I still have the flu and feel quite bad. Give me 2-3 days to recover
