Im kinda interested by the bard ( no sub ) idea and im thinking of coming back to sro ( even though i said this was the last time after getting wow >_> )

What i wanted to know is whats solo for a bard like? I'd be on venus but even still there aren't constant parties, there will be times where i need to solo. How does a bard go with soloing? With speed and noise normal mobs and champs would be ok but what about giants? With no moves to disable a giant attack ( except bind, bind + range works well ) is it still easy to solo giants your level? Would i need to rely on bind and range to kill giants? Or would i need a 40 sub of cleric for RD to help with grinding? ( i'd rather be a pure bard in all honesty ).

trick with soloing i guess? not really a trick but not sure people know since i dont see many bards soloing

the bard's nuke attack and absolute damage attacks can be used following each other with no cooldowns like wizard's fire/ice bolt combo
also this will keep you from ever using any mp pots

or just nuke, absolute damage, normal attack 3 different mobs and then use the simulatenous 5 attack that doesnt need to target any mobs as they get near you

dont remember bard skill names :(

I found I two shot most normal mobs my own lvl when I solo'd. So it was usually my nuke attack, and then when they came close to me my AoE attack. Just make sure that there isn't a lot of mobs near you that will get aggro'd by your AoE attack. Or as someone else said, your nuke attack, and your normal attack, I think I 3 shotted my own lvl that way, but the attacks were so fast that most times I didn't take a hit.

What about giants though? Its obvious enough that with the speed and damage of the nukes ( instant cast, 215% and 300% i think ) that it deals the damage to kill norms without taking a hit, but have you experienced difficulties fighting giant mobs? Many wizards die killing giants without a cleric sub and thats with freezing, dull and kb moves. Does the bind + range tactic really work effective enough to not be constantly dying by giants?

bind is useless for bards :S it goes away when hit with magic lol

but if you find some slow giants, you can hit and run but you probably wont kill a giant your own level very often and win with a safe hp

I've killed giants my own lvl, but mainly at higher levels where my tambours are absorbing a lot more damage. At lower levels, I don't remember killing a lot of giants and not dying. But the good thing is you can out run almost all of them, except the damn chickens.

Here you'll find everything.

Thanks for that link :)

How do you suppose I solo sp farm? What lvl/sp gap should I have and what mobs should I kill? I want to farm when I am a low lvl so that if I die, I can respawn back to the point of death.
I am a bard/cleric.

Thanks.

Depends, if it is solo, then there's no different than a wizard. If it's in a party, most probably u wont get buffed (fence/quota). Just know ur limit and u'll be fine. U can look at my euro pt video and see how i manage to not die without fence/quota. Know when to nuke, when to teleport/run till wizards get the aggro is important.

You can use it when soloing. Will go down though if you get hit too much. Make sure to level up Prism.

actually, i found bind quite usefull against giants/champions since bind doesnt go away if you use that skill that do absolute damage and turn the damage you did into mp, it doesnt do that big of damage but i cant knock out at least 15% of the mobs hp out.

Yes you can, it stays on, but as was stated, as you get hit, there is a % chance it will go down, as you level up Prism this will decrease the chances of it going down when your hit. Also, it constantly drains mana from you while up, so make sure you are mana cycling yourself otherwise you'll run through a lot of pots.

To fight giants, you need to know your character limitations.
Below is my procedure to fight them, and have worked most of the time:

- move away from the immediate spawn area and send your wolf to attack the giant so you can prepare
- carry a set of (xtra)large potions for auto pot just for giant battles and a set of vigors also
- activate the guard tambor buff and then your berzerker gauge
- start attacking and the giant will run to you, keep at it and the large pots will continue to replenish HP as you take hits, then use vigor when the pots are cycling too slow
- keep an eye on the guard tambor and reactivate it if it goes down; it reduces the critical hits significantly that can otherwise kill you
- press V and click a point to run away for a few seconds to replenish HP and come back to it again (died countless times because the damn giant got in my way when I was clicking to run away and started the attack again)
- if these steps result in death, then your lvl/equipment is too low to take these giants

From observation I found that there's a distance point past which a giant won't chase you, but you can position your wolf just inside there to keep attacking the giant while you some distance away outside that limit can still continue to attack giant with ranged attack and it will not chase you but will keep hammering away at the wolf (bring pots for it too).

2 tips on giants :S

1 use bind before you run away :D well it might not work, but it might save you too
2 use the aggro remove skill, and it will go back to wolf

u think is good to be a pure bard? i don't want other sub but i be thinking too.
1. i will never get a unique kill
2. if i want to lvl fast i need a party
3. i don't want to farm like 400k just for wiz, because if i got to farm 600k of sp to max wiz/bard i just rather get 700k and be fully farm util 90 with pure str archer lol and they really fun :).

If it walks like a chicken, looks like a chicken and tastes like chicken. It's chicken. :D

1. Yes, you will, I've gotten, Cerb, Uri, and Isy. If you want LY or DS, all that is required is a party that will let you get it, by having the wizzies go after the spawns and not the unique and to lure it away from other parties.
2. this is true of any euro build, but you can still solo if you want to
3.battle bard, one of the cheapest sp builds in the game.
