Fck yeah, I got so excited all of a sudden. I almost forgot it was 20th. Still managed to get 1.2MB/s out of this, but I shall never seed.
Spoiler!
Edit: found one example of a bad port so far: not enough graphic options. It seems to run fine though, but I need to play it a bit and get to the larger areas to see if I should buy it or not.
The theatre mission was very impressive and felt so different. Not used to see so many people in one place in a game. But Ubisoft better release a patch or something that allows for more graphical customisation because not being able to take off the shadows just sucks, the framerate isn't good enough in Boston.
edit: playing it, running more than fine, even in the crowded scene in the begining, graphics maxed, i have amd phenom X4 9750 @ 2.4 Ghz, 4 gb ram, radeon hd 5770.
Spoiler!
so far there's an old man called Haytham and no Connor, I wanted the begining to be like ezio's to be honest, starting when he's young and naive, well we'll see, I'm still all hyped.
The crowded scene in the beginning was just fine, but once I got to Boston, the framerate went down a lot and I had to knock the resolution down to the lowest, fps still not that impressive. I'd really like to turn off shadows and AA so I could play it on a slightly higher resolution. I have Intel i3 M 350 2,27 GHz, 4 GB RAM, Radeon HD 5145.
Spoiler!
I have heard that you'll play as young Connor for quite a bit.
that scene at boston was too huge and had so many details, didn't get anything like that again later, almost got bored to the point that I stop playing but then things got really interesting.
don't open if you didn't finish memory sequence 3 yet
when Desmond was outside the animus, he talked with Shaun about using the animus to experience the first civilization, idk if this is just a notion from what might come in AC4 or it will be a part of this one, but sounds very interesting
Damn. And I thought I was playing through AC games too fast.
I still keep holding space when freerunning, not used to only having to hold W and RMB. But I don't like that I can't jog. He just starts sprinting right away. Also I'd like to be able to walk with the horse like I could in all the other ACs by holding space.
Spoiler!
I really liked the Manhattan part with Desmond, it looked awesome. I like when I can do some action with Desmond too.
Yea took me some time to get used to the new system aswell, when animals attack me I used to spam e while I'm supposed to press it once, so any bear/wolf attack was a certain death for me, but got used to it in the later sequences. and I didn't upgrade my weapons at all through the whole story, didn't know where to buy them(stores have no icon on the map until you enter them first time) and I was too curious to know more about the story
Spoiler!
bad thing about it is that there is no UI, did you plug the power source you got from Manhattan yet?if not don't plug it until you finish Connor's story, because with every power source Juno will tell you a part of a story, it's more interesting when she tells it all at once
The ending is so epic as usual btw, I wonder if they will ever make a final end >.>
Oh wow, I wondered why they made the animal attack parts so unforgiving and impossible. Since the E key flashes on the screen, I thought I'm supposed to tap it repeatedly. Also, I never like quicktime events in games.
Spoiler!
I don't even know where to plug those power sources in. I have looked around a couple times and I saw those things that reminded me of Portal and once when I went there, Juno talked to me a bit, but I really didn't see anything get plugged in.
AC has always had those endings where you feel teased and in the end you have more questions than answers. Looking forward to seeing it, though when it's over it's gonna suck to wait for the next one though.
Finished it yet? I'm free roaming now, discovered some good stuff: Jamestown outfit has the same old white/red outfit look. When you buy any weapon from the general store, their stats are BS, I'm using a heavy axe and it says that it will give me less damage, speed AND combo, while it's much easier to kill with, so just buy the most badass looking weapons and they'll definitely do better.
The ending wasn't as 'WTF' as ACB, the questions arose slowly in the end scenes, but the ending was great nonetheless. TBH I would have chosen not to touch the ball. I didn't like Juno from the start, Minerva also looks better. Had Desmond chosen otherwise, it would have probably changed the upcoming games in the franchise a lot. But it would have been interesting to see the environment after the catastrophe and play a game in that setting. I was kinda surprised to see that there was also an Epilogue. I don't know how many people even know of this, because Ubisoft made you watch half an hour's worth of credits before that. Sometimes I wish I had two screens. Reliving memories outside the Animus is weird, but I guess they had to make some sort of a free roam and not change the story because of that. I wonder who is the mysterious voice who talks about pivot points after completing the main missions and if he is somehow tied to the story or is just a random voice. While playing the game, I had quite a number of rage moments. Mainly because of the 100% sync objectives and being a perfectionist. I still have several missions not 100% though and I'm too lazy to do them now. Usually when I complete the main story in any game, I lose interest in the game. Only AC2 did I finish 100%. And there wasn't nearly as much to do in AC2. They have made the game easier in many parts, but still I have the feeling that being sneaky relies a bit too much on luck. It wasn't easy to infiltrate forts in a sneaky way and I had to take a lot of risks. And when shit went wrong, I got pissed. They should focus more on the sneaky part of the game because you can just run into a fort like a fucking tank and not give a shit about anything. That is the fastest way of infiltration in AC3 and doesn't get you killed. Even though you have no health pots. AC1 still remains the hardest game in the series. Infiltration was a bitch in that one and required a lot of thinking before doing anything. Also detection was pretty much instant and that meant much greater risk. In AC3 I often found myself using the detection meter to my advantage to lure guards and pick them off one by one. Also, I want to mention that the weapon&tool selector sucks. Takes up the whole screen and is much slower than the weapon wheel in the AC2 games. Horse whistle was a bitch to use. They could have just put it on a hotkey or something. And if they had actually used their brains, PC users would have 10 shortcut keys instead of 4 because game controllers don't have more buttons. Some of the tools, such as the rope dart and trip mine were poorly integrated. They didn't really have any good purpose. I rarely used the rope dart, and when in some situation I found that I could use it, it didn't really work out. Used the poison dart only a couple of times, the smoke bomb a bit more, but only in shitty situations that didn't happen often. Didn't use the trip mine even once. Neither did I use throw money because I didn't feel as rich as I did in the AC2 games. I think what they should have done is put the use of those tools into the requirements for 100% sync on some missions. Also, am I stupid or are you really not able to do a double hidden blade kill on the ground? If so, then that is so stupid. It only worked from higher positions, such as a roof or a horse. One more thing, removing shift from the controls entirely, is lame. I want shift back. Yeah, it does open up that annoying sticky keys window if pressed 5 times, but it could be changed to ctrl or something then. Also, blocking felt weird with E, I am more used to RMB. But despite all this, the game is still awesome. Mainly because of the story and how Connor acted and stuff. Naval combat was also amazing. Now I just have to wait for the next one. I wonder if Connor will move west in search of his people and what is to be done with Juno now that she has been set free.
The following spoiler is not a spoiler, just a video. I found this very helpful as I didn't really understand the system at first when the game told me about it.
I finished last sequence like 2 hours ago, and left the computer on for the credits. I kinda liked the ending, and, of course, I have to wait for AC4 or whatever they're going to call the next sequel. As for MP, I didn't try it, and I dobut it will work, since I DLed the game, didn't buy it.
Can't say much about the MP since they didn't give us more graphic options in time and I'm probaly not going to buy the game now just for MP as it has never been the gem of AC.
all those flaws are in the gameplay, which is average, the good thing about ac series is the storyline and the graphics/animations, that's why I just rushed through the game focusing on the main story, that's what i liked about it. I don't think that we will get more Connor in the next part, won't make since unless if Desmond comes back to life, we'll either get the ancient civilization or the present with no animus, or maybe they'll plug someone else into the animus, will see in a year
IIRC, AC3 should have been the last one with Desmond. That is worrying since imo there hasn't been enough Desmond gameplay and just leaving Desmond like this feels kinda weird and unfinished.
While playing AC3, I got a feeling that Templars are the good guys, and that Desmond's predecessors were all fooled by the Assassin's Order. Every important target Connor kills tells a story in which Templars are good, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's true.
^That's why I liked the post-assassination dialogue. It wasn't just the target being made a thoroughly bad character and It did give Connor some other views. Connor could have been a bit less serious and arrogant though. Ezio is definitely the most colorful one of the bunch so far. Too bad we couldn't get 3 games with Altair though and I wonder if they'll continue with Connor stuff or make another big title next.
^Yeah, saw a vid about it. I don't know about this. Nothing big has happened in Brazil, at least after the events of AC3 in North America. And they don't have enough material to go back to before the spanish and portuguese "invasion". If this is true, I wonder how they will make things interesting. AC might have to go back in time again to keep things interesting. Because they did skip loads of places that had some interesting stuff going on before the AC3 events. Besides, there are 30 pieces of eden or temples or whatever they were all over the world, and AC has only been to 3. If they get to the WWs era, it gets a bit dull too I think, though they can still keep things interesting with their story. I would also like if they did an AC in the present with no animus. Hell, they even might do that next judging by the ending. But co-op AC? Hell yes!
