Has no one thought about a reform in these policies yet? There are going to be flames that's a given without them this place would freeze over, they keep this place toasty warm and a lot of the time there deserved. The concept of banning someone that uses a loader for 7 days is hilariously absurd and the fact that it's been going this long is ridiculous. They get to come back and yet there still using it so what was the point? I see absolutely no logic in that. This needs to be reversed. You give the temporary bans to the people that cause a forest fire and you give the permanent bans to the people that use 3rd pt programs. At least when a person gets a temporary ban for flames they would come back and remember that they got a temporary ban and they'll think twice in causing another major fire. You give them warnings but giving them a short temporary ban is more effective.
he called someone a brown nose ruyi told him no racism or ban crump said 'ok false accuse me' (brown nose means ass kisser) all the posts deleted and crump gone

Do I seriously have to explain why Crumpets was banned? If you haven't even understood before, I'm almost sure that I'm going to waste my time with trying to make you understand in the first place.
Crumpets didn't got banned because he was always in a good mood, and because he was so friendly to the people here. Kind to the younger and newer members of SRF. Crumpets got banned because he was a constant problem. And he has been that for far too long.
And why did you hypocrites like Crumpets so much? Wasn't it because of his way of posting? How his insults would make you laugh? And you let him know that. You liked Crumpets for his behaviour. And probably egged him on in continuing it. In a way, you are all just as guilty as getting him banned as I am for pulling the trigger. Which I gladly did. He should have been banned ages ago for his constant hatred, his constant insulting of other people, and often, he didn't even had the reason to behave like that. He got away with it far too many times, until he pushed it too far.
If you are all so angry about Crumpets' ban, or any other prick who got a taste of his own medicine, why are you still here? Why are you still here, on the terrible SRF with horrible mods that banned your BFF? If you really cared about the guy, you wouldn't be a fucking hypocrite, oh no. You would write something in your sig like "Left because Crumpets isn't here and without him SRF is shitty". Or something like that. Preferably with a very angry emoticon to make it extra clear. Like this one: And then leave. Don't come back, because it'd ruin the great statement you just made. Of course it won't get Crumpets, or anyone else unbanned, but we'll all admire your courage to stand up for your friend. And a certain mod would appreciate the 3 seconds of quietness. But nobody has the balls, or the care to do that. I almost feel bad for the poor fellow. Almost.
Seriously, do you really think we ban people just because we don't like them? If that was the truth... It'd be on.

We do discuss rules and policies and compare them to the forums current state and balance the need for them. We've been discussing a lot since Suicidegrl's departure.
I'll give you some insite on the 7 day loader ban.
As a fansite, we do not want the promotion, use or distribution of 3rd party programs on the forum that violate the games ToS. We know a lot of people use the loader; that we cannot change. We can only keep the board clean of it.
The 7 day ban policy is a deterrent that keeps such content off the board. And its a working concept. I can tell you this because I receive all emails sent to the administrator, and theres very few who don't bitch when they get slapped with such deterrent. The number of people who beg to be unbanned is quite amusing.
Yes, you do see people post "I did my 7 days for loader use" and other such comments. This gives a general stigma that its not a "big deal". But in almost every case this has happened, its other people bringing up old garbage and dumping it on people, and the formerly punished posting to defend themselves.
On the topic of banning vs warning when it comes to flames, we rarely "ban" veteran people for flaming a few times. Most bans are being a constant problem - which means we dealt with their shit for months and may did recieve warnings.
If you feel more 'temp' bans like a 3 day slap for flaming would resolve things more efficently, its worth discussing. Quite possibly 3 day ban + warn... and 3 warns = goodbye.

Why/how are we hypocrites? Why do we have to 'leave' just because someone we liked got banned? Who said you're a horrible mod? Why are you so angry??
^hypocrites because everybody likes crumpets but then after he gets banned, none of his fans leave to follow him. Eervybody care's about crumpets but after that he gets banned no one cares enough to leave SRF with him. Thats hypocritical.
Theres a backlash from the non mods with these "bring crumpets back" sigs. What mod wouldnt be angry about this? your trying to keep the place nice by banning people who don't follow the rules but people don't like it because crumpets is an "old" member and someone that "everybody likes". Don't you think thats immature? Excluding some people from the rules because they are funny and a veteran member? And it shouldn't be funny if what ruyi says is true about crumpets. If he was rude and mean then its a good thing he got banned

Hey, don't lump me in that "everyone" statement. It is what it is: an Internet message board. I have friends who behave like complete jerks on message boards yet they are the nicest people in real life.
Very few people completely behave the same way on a forum as they do in real life. (I try to)
And leaving a forum because a friend left or was banned? Er, what? You really think it would matter to most mods? I've modded other forums and seen people leave because I banned XYZ for posting porn/being an insensitive jerk/not following the rules after it's been explained to them many times. A forum is not a popularity contest. A mod does a JOB and either is liked or hated for it. The rest of us contribute in some way, or just supply the "+1" type of posts. When it comes down to it, the "be a constant problem" rule works very well imho.
Also, unless we know someone personally in real life or have talked to them on the phone, how well do you really know them? Someone might have cancer and may never say anything. Does anyone truly care about their well being on a forum?
This works for me: Keeping my real life friends close. Very few forum members know me. Much easier to avoid all the drama this way, no?

did you even carefully read what I wrote..? I never wrote anything like "ruyi cares if someone leaves SRF because crumpets got banned".
And I have no idea what your trying to tell me, whats your point? I was simply trying to explain to Azilius why people are being hypocritical with regards to crumpets.

^whats your point? are you trying to say that if crumpets is the nicest guy you know in real life, he shouldnt be banned? Now I'm teribly confused

1. Sometimes a person will post and quote someone else (as I am doing here) to pick pieces. It's not in response to your quote but just to make a statement and have people think about it. Think like a mod or a reasonable person and you have fewer problems on a forum. Should anyone care if a certain person is banned - if the mods are only enforcing the rules agreed upon? There's no mod abuse here. Yes, they may miss the "persona" but does it impact your real life much?
2. No, how Crumpets may act in real life has no bearing on the forum. He was banned anyway, right?
3. People will be hypocritical (if they want to) anywhere, not just on a message board They are a little more complex than the words used to express their thoughts.
Don't mean to confuse, but rather to elicit thoughts.

It might just be what I've heard about the word 'hypocritical' and it's definition but I just don't see it being applied in any way here..Like if my best-long time-friend gets deported from my country, am I a hypocrite for not leaving to join him..? =s How can we 'follow' crump when he was 'pushed' from the forums. Why can't we continue to be part of the community without being named a hypocrite?
I thought you could be someones friend without having to shadow them..Doesn't really make sense to me at all.
