Oh boy that DS3 run was a trainwreck, but it was fun watching with the Speedsouls discord. Bubbles even called out Speedsouls on the interview before the run. He credited the wrong people for strats, had some meme mods on the game.
Then he crashed the game in a spot where it's consistently avoidable. Then he stopped the timer and reloaded a premade save, not before the skip where he crashed which would have made sense, instead in a spot that skipped ahead in the run. So he had started with a female character named "Robbie Rotten" (at least $12k was donated for that name to be chosen, after reloading that save his character was male and named "Kill Yourself"... He finished barely under estimate, but it would have been over estimate if he hadn't paused the timer, then messed up the glitch showcase that was also a donation incentive so we never saw the fun part of the glitch.
After the run he still tweets and says in discord that it was a good run... I'm not sure how his run even got into AGDQ considering he's not even on the leaderboards and he had said he "doesn't know what is PB is". I wonder if GDQ will actually check if the runner is good in the future. He even rescheduled his run very late which is an inconvenience for a lot of other runners. And people on /r/speedrun oddly defensive of this run whereas they tend to call out bad runs all over the place, even saying all his deaths were out of his control lel. If Souls runs weren't in very high regard at GDQ to begin with, this surely won't make them more willing have them on the marathons in the future.
But it was pretty funny nonetheless.
And at least some spicy memes happened:
