I'm currently testing a SRO tanker (sword & shield). I would call it a my version of a SRO Paladin. A tanking build that deals little damage, takes a lot and minors in heal. This is a very standard class, but may need some explaining. This is an all around decent build.

Why is it called a Paladin? Because they minor in healing with cleric as a sub. What's the main reason's to choose a cleric? To get healing and resurrection.

Why minor in healing?
    - You'll rarely die. Having a ton of HP along side healing you'll usually be the last man standing, which brings us to our next point.

    - People are sometimes bound to get mobbed, wizards, healers, and rouges don't have much HP. To prevent people from having to run back in case a cleric dies, you'll be in charge of resurrecting your party.

    - Makes solo'ing more possible when a party is difficult to find (or a good one). Though euro's aren't meant to solo with a high potion delay, being able to heal your self could easily take down a party mob or giant alone with time.

Tips and Tricks:
    - A lot of people recommend using a 2-hander with a sword and shield, I couldn't really agree for paladins. I suggest using a sword and shield with a rod and shield. This way you only have to hotbar your sword and your rod and keep your shield constantly on.

    - You ARE NOT A PARTY HEALER. You have horrible MP compared to intelligence classes. It makes no sense to heal other characters, your healing is meant for you alone to keep you alive so you can stay alive longer and hopefully keep the others alive longer as well.

    - As mentioned above your job is to take all the damage while staying alive. So its your job to keep mobs away from other party members. Even if it means running out of a fight and tagging another monster to draw his attention towards you.

    - Don't bother getting most of the cleric's buffs! Why!? Because you can't cast it on yourself. If you have spare SP in the end you may as well, but I wouldn't recommend these skills first thing. Put priority on your warrior skills over your cleric side.

I want to note some things about paladins. Paladins aren't damage dealers, they're a different kind of support. They do decent damage, but no where near the best. They're helpful in PvP as well, but usually won't get the kills, same goes for MvP. You may have also noticed I didn't list the skills, but that's because Euro characters are more flexible and forgiving with skills. Whats usually bad for a build is rather obvious.

Well I hope this little guide helped out and I will try to add more to it while I experiment myself. I'll try to get a list of recommended skills in the future.

~ Thank you for reading and special thanks to my brother who helped me proofread the guide and made the banner.

Ehm... Couldn't let that stand... For the most, rogues are pure strenght... going pure int doesn't help since they are physical damagedealers... so...

Who said rouges put up int ???

of course they put up str !

but rouges best move is the 75% less
defense and hp skill to make them super
strong so in other words they are like mages

thats what i meant i have a lvl 24 rouge with the
skill he has 896 life 3 hits from a mob will kill me
so yea there mosty like mages in my words

Quote for truth. That was very noobish comment of you Philip.

Also the guide may seem obvious, but the more I play on the Euro side the more horrible tankers I see. They're usually subbed with completely pointless classes like bard and rouges... Its usually really sad, because they're characters name are things like "Th3 Tanker" or some other uncreative name.

Its because they have a skill where they sacrifice 50% life to make them super strong with cross bow and the daggers have a skill that makes them weak by like 75% to make them stronger in other words there like mages they have low hp with the skill but hit like landmines

So you aren't pure strenght I guess.... (lvl 24 pure strenght is almost 1700 hp)And to admit, that skill actually lets you die easily... (!)

Noobish of me? I pointed out a point in the guide I didn't agree with....(!) I fail to see how it can be noobish to express your oppinion in a guide.... Try to either argue against me or just skip instead of called people noobs and idiots just because your oppinion is different... (!)

What i am saying here is rogues have a skill that makes them have less life but makes them strong like mages and yes i am full str but with the skill on i have 896 life and thats the best move with rogues/crossbow without that there a piece of crap that do no damage and can't tank see my point ..

That's funny. I said your comment on rogues was noobish, not that you were a noob, nor that expressing your opinion was wrong either. Its common knowledge most rogues use that skill otherwise they're a dumbed down warriors.

Now don't try to start a argument. I simply pointed out you seemed to be thinking of rogues in a different manner then they're often played in. Anyway, end this here. Lets not spam a perfectly good topic and get it closed.

On a side note, I never called you an idiot. An idiot is a lot more extreme then a noob, don't go twisting people's words.

san wrote:

Yea, that's true for normal mobs, but for party and giants is where the tankers coming running in to save the day. You could always run and hit, but man does that take long. I would know, I'm usually forced to do so with my full support in tight spots, lol. :D

I say this because after awhile mobs start giving you crap exp unless your in a party and in parties, party mobs spawn a lot more (at least thats how it seems to me).

its a very good basis for a good guide. try to go ingame and make some
screenshots, or try to put in some skills. all the skills you need to add are
to be found in the characters and skills big sticky.

ive added you to that sticky under Cleric guides.

also a little comment, be a bit more specific on the build. you start off with
calling it a paladin, then there is some talk about tanking and being a minor
in heal. but the class you actually named in that top part, is the cleric.

if it is to be under a different chapter than cleric guides, send me a pm.

this has evolved quite well :)

@cin - his paladin guide should go under tanks or warriors
as it is
the ultimate in tank technology

s/s - cleric :)
a bunch of people and I had an argument about this build in july
i made a short lived guide, that some people followed.

but the problem with the build sadly is as the topic starter said you suck at killing, your basically a slab of meat. which is good and bad.

s/s - cleric equals the blader of euro :)

VERY NICE GUIDE!
SADLY only a few people will have the stomach to truly master this build

i might have the stomach for it. i like being a healer and the whole 'not dying thing' is definitley a plus. unfortunatley, ill have to check it out later when im capped and farmed on my current char.
only 17 lvls to go and so many more sp to farm*sigh*

If they don't use the skill they actually CAN tank, as they have nearly as much defense as a 2h..

Really like this guide - if only because it puts this build out there. There are hardly any s/s warriors around (and as a healer they make such a huge difference, they take hardly any damage, even compared to duel axe warriors).

From a healers view having a s/s warrior with subcleric is great as the s/s is the last to die often (so the res is useful) but more than that having a tank with their own bless spell to use when they feel its needed is amazing.

On the rogue point, as already said they have the skills that reduces their hp for increased dmg (much like a wizards life control), and althoguh i have not played a rogue, they are (at least in my experiance) the class that dies most often in partys, and from the warriors i have spoken to the hardest ti fight with if they dont understand aggro. So often are the warriors biggest concern.

I opted for the 1h warrior / xbow rogue build. Though healing/ress would make a paladin, the lack of damage dealing resigns the paladin to rely on a party to lvl up, if you want to lvl up quick <.<. Its a nice idea, especially if you have a party to back you up and lvl all the way to 80.

but most euro players have res anyway, and the problem with the cleric buffs is that if you take off your wand they stop working
