So I'm going to buy WoW in a little bit more than 2 weeks when I've finished a major math test. Got some questions I need to straighten out though.
1. I'm going to play on a PvP server. Which server should I choose? I don't have any IRL friends who play WoW so I won't be choosing based on that. Should I choose an old or an new one? etc.
2. I'm gonna start off with a priest. I've read what the different professions do and I think I'll choose tailoring+enchanting. Though my friend (ex-WoW:er) said it's better to 1, even 2, gathering professions when you start new. Would it be wise to take a gathering profession instead of tailoring, save the cloths you pick up and then at higher lvl switch to tailoring. (leveling tailoring using the saved cloths).
Don't know if it's a good idea at all. What do you suggest?
Thanks for helping.

Tailoring and enchanting will be (very) expensive and hard to level up for a new player. It is wise to take at least one gathering profession. I started with mining + skinning, and later just dropped skinning. Especially mining can get you some nice gold for a start, farm some copper for a few hours and sell the bars on the AH; nice profit. You could save up the cloth, but on my server cloth sells fairly well on the AH, few gold per stack runecloth, making a nice coin. I suggest you just sell the cloth, besides, it will take up way to much inventory and bank space. If you deceide to pick tailoring later in the game just farm some new cloth or buy from AH.

It's the enchanting he has to switch for either tailoring or skinning

Thanks for helping. Start on an older one, and there will be alot of players equiped up and such. However, it does not really matter. I am actually looking to settle down on a server as well. I have characters scattered, considering all my friends that I used to play with start new characters, get them to 70 and than quit that server.

Also, DP. What server do you play on smudge? You're prices are weird... Well I always thought of enchanting as a stand alone, although it does go with Tailor, LW, and stuff for self-sufficiency or engineer/alch/jc for self buffs. Point is, I don't think mining/enchant is a good mix unless you're guild is in need of miners and enchanters. Also, you're a priest, might as well go tailor.

I do not reccomend enchanting for a starting player because it's Farking expensive to level. Ofcourse, tailoring is a good option, but I think you're better off with creating a bank alt and taking mining+skinning from the start to make some bulk money. After which you can always choose to pick a crafting profession, which won't be too much of a problem @ 70. Also, I'm on bloodhoof EU, prices are odd because they're the lowest bids there are. I got auctioneer to scane the AH for me, for prices which are out of the ordinary, and I then bid on them. Example: Average price for a stack of netherweave is ~4g, someone has a bid of 20c, Auctioneer notices that, reports it to me and asks me if I want to bid, including the price it think's the stack is worth, and how much my profit will be.

Ever since T4, rogue gear has gone way down hill w/ T5 S3/T6 and sunwell stuff is not lookin gbetter. Agreed about enchanting, you can't sell low level enchants at all. The only low levels that really do want enchants are twinks, but they want top tier enchants. You could probably still make some cash off weapon glows, but it's not nearly as profitable as other professions. Oh, and besure to get fishing/cooking, you get nice MP5 later which every priest needs. @smudge If I weren't so anti-add-on I'd get auctioneer since it does seem very useful/time & money saving, but I'd rather just browse through the stuff I need right now than put another folder in Add-ons.

I do not think the GM's will reimburse you for that, considering that is your fault. If you use Thottbot, you could have gotten it from there. I remember my guilds bank got murdered because one of our leaders used thottbot to look up recipes.

They had a topic about it on the WoW general forums. If you dont believe its possible you are way to naive to be on the internet.

you have just as much a chance to get your wow account hacked on thotttbot as you do on srf.
don't click on retarded links to other sites and you should be fine.
stop spreading stupid shit like
1. "Thottbot got me hacked" it didn't, you clicking on a link or something did.
2. "Addon got me hacked" it didn't, not unless the author was really really good at getting something in there that the repuatable addon sites didn't see when it got screened. addons are just text files, the only way they hack you is if you dl an .exe with them and click it
