...think so, didn't do too much research, one of my friends said and quote "Get maya, it'll help you out." And I know enough to know it has something to do with art and 3-d...

is it worth dl?

im a lazy bum when it comes to learning software. if i really like it, i take
time to learn it.. but my time is so little with school atm that i downloaded
maya but only tried it once, then went learning easier programs first cause
i wanted to get some things done quickly :)

same goes for c4d btw, nice program, makes great renders.. but a biatch
to learn oO

i tried both for a short while..

and maya seemed to work more.. logical in a way.
idk, every interface has a certain "feel" to it, and maya felt better
than lightwave for me :P if you want to use something for animating,
then i suggest you try out animation master that one was for me
the one i found most interesting to try out cause it seemed to be the most
easy to use :)

Lightwave for basic modeling but mostly for animated shorts. It's a great character modeler and animated movie maker. As long as I can get textures right on PS I can make modeling work for lightwave, but mostly animation.
