I think style is something that comes to you naturally as you discover more tricks in PS.

A good way to start is by reading a lot of different tutorials and absorb other people's style. I mean, this is literally how everybody start with whether its singing, drawing or more specific making sigs.

Like Milly said, what you want to ultimately find is your style, not copy someone else's style. You want to be unique, make your own stuff, be something different from the rest of the crowd.

The thing is, you'd be surprised on how many different styles there are to making Sigs. Those at a forum such as YGen have a COMPLETELY different style than we do here at SRF. On top of that, making tags is just one tiny aspect of digital art; you're only beginning to graze the edge. There are people in the world who make a living through digital art - I think Rizla mentioned that he did something of the sort. Most of the Forum members here - and even the best like BrokenSaint, HOLLA, or Snudge - could be at best considered intermediates when it comes to digital art in general. It's such a wide field. It's such an open field. It's an entire branch of art, just like painting of sculpture; but instead of using chisels and palettes, digital artists use programs like Photoshop and GIMP to create their art.

Just take that into account when you're trying to "find a new style": develop your own. It's art. The purpose of art is to convey your meanings, thoughts, and emotions through some medium, and digital art is no different. Only the medium this time is through Photoshop. If I were you, I'd learn the basics first - what do all the buttons do, how do I do this and this and this and that? And then focus on a style. And then become unique.

Then don't stick to the basic layout. The great thing about art is the freedom to do whatever you want and thinking outside the box. You are limitless as to what you can imagine and create. I'm sure there are a lot of different funtions in photoshop you haven't even touched yet. Try different gradients, distortions, go for a different look. I'm usually on MSN and Xfire and AIM if needed. If you need any help or want some critique, or want to send me the .psd and i'll do something to it and send it back to give you an idea then go ahead. I'll show you some doors, up to you to open them and walk through them, and explore <3

You shouldn't change your style, what you shouldn't do (imho) is doing the same stuff to different stocks/renders and then define that as your 'style'

Oh i suggest you to stop using those renders, c4d's. Try using real life images mixing them with each other. Like i did with Casey's sig, added few horses to the empty field. Even a simple city picture can be awesome background, few ppl can be awesome render, rain, snow, stars and many more nature things can be awesome effects.

You can create your own scene using only your imagination, and no need of pro PS skills, all you need is imagination, all all sorts of images, and mix them together isnt that hard  And cool part of this, is that it's very interesting, and kinda different in this world of anime, game and abstract sig's :)

Try it, i think you gonna like it
