...who does nothing but playing with Play Station 3. He is 21 and has no social life. He even fails at University because he does not go into Lectures. He lies to his parents about his grades, but accepts all the food and money they give him. He has never had a girlfriend...not even friends. He is smoking because he thinks that he might become a grown man. He isn't brushing his teeth, maybe once a week. He doesn't care about how dirty his own house or even himself. He cannot talk about anything else but PS3 games.

Would you live with a guy like this? Because I have to, and he is killing my nerves.

I started University as a programmer in September. I was offered to move into his house instead of student hostel. I had to accept it even if I didn't want to. The first month was okay, but it's getting worse and I can't even tell him to stop smoking in the house or whatever because it's his. I have no right to talk at all. I'm smoking aswell but I use the balcony.

Being disgusting is just one thing, but I can't even study at home because he and the other guy who lives with us make too much noise. In this semester I started to spend my whole day in the Library just not to be at 'home'. Even if we have a decent internet connection I can barely use it since he is always downloading something with his shitty setted computer. The net always disconnects and I can barely open google. Everything that I need is on the internet, so whenever I want to learn I have to use it.

The fact that I can't move to student hostel makes me sad.
What would you do if you were me? /discuss

p.s.: As you could figure it out I'm not a native English so sorry for my spelling and grammar mistakes.

First of all, why can't you move out?

Because I just have to pay for overhead charges, it's cheaper than student hostel. My parents are divorced and we don't even know where my father is. So my mother has to pay my studies and my sister's aswell. She is studying as a lawyer, finishing soon.

So financial problem.

Aren't there any other friends you could be living with? :O

I would only just stay at the house to eat and try to sleep.. otherwise, spend the rest of time somewhere else.

That's what I'm trying to do, but I can't even sleep before midnight because they are always playing or watching movies. Even if I asked them to turn the volume down they just keep being noisy.

Seems like you only got one choice... Kill him...

Sure you have the right to talk. You pay something to him right? But seriously, You can't live like that and you need to find a way to get away from it!

Make posters for him of how he is now with his playstation3. And take pictures of his house / teeth and hang them around in the house. Show himself how he is and what he's actually doing. He'll get down.

there must be ads for housing for college students that are cheaper than the student hostel (which is the dorms i'm assuming your talking about?)

Ugh i would go insane living with someone like that.

But seriously... if you cant make him normal / get him to go out sometimes, i dont know what you cna do. People like that are a lost cause.

The problem is that it's his house so that's why my arms are binded.


He is not going anywhere not even to University. He sleeps till 2 p.m. or so because he stays up too late at nights. As I was saying he has noone but us (me and my roommate). I should just pay him a 'round' if you know what I mean and he might be normal. What a spoiled kid...


That's why I'm trying to avoid any contact with him. Our conversation became pretty limited. Since I can't talk with him about anything else but PS3 games I just greet him in the mornings. That's all there is nothing else I can talk about with him.

He's a Hobo. -.-. Ignore him i had same problem, the only thing that my room mate had too much of social life so he always had someone in our 'home' n' drinkin' my booze.

no what I mean is just leave the house. You say you pay a bit of money to stay there, so stop paying, pack up your stuff and go find another house that is offering rent. Nobody says you have to stay there.

Noone was QQing. I've got almost 40 hours per week at University, like I have that much free time to do a part-time job that can cover the rent. This is why I said I can't do anything and that's why it sucks.

But I know what it's like to have to go to school full time and pay for school + living expenses.

My ideas:
Get a job and pay rent move out.
Move in with other friends.
Be more assertive and tell the guy he is taking the piss..he must not have respect for you if he can carry on like that.
Move into on campus accommodation.

thats true but you don't have to be so harsh to him, if he could leave the place he would have already done it.

To be fair though buddhist I think your not doing enough. Be more aggressive with looking for other places to stay, there has to be at least a few places around where they ask for the same rate as the douchefag your staying with.
