If you get surrounded how will a rifle help you? how can you lift it up when you have a zombie right next to you already grabbing you?
and yes ammunition WILL BE VERY HARD TO FIND, what? do you think the rest of the population will sit on their asses and do nothing? no, most stores selling food and firearms are normal the first to be hit and as such unless you have a stock pile of ammuntion at home then you are going to run out fast.
and a knife or other such weapon is perfect..yes the human skull if the strongest and hardest part of the body to piece, but like i said before all i have to do stab through the eye or the ear. Everyone is acting like they plan to go out and kill any and every zombie that they see and its going to be easy...if you think this you might as well strip down naked, lie down and call out to the zombies to come and eat you.
Like i said before the whole point of this topic is what to do during a zombie apocalpse, that is to say that 9 out of 10 people have be turned. The best plan is to head away from any and all urban areas, only move during the day (yes i know it sounds hard but unlike zombies humans DO have to rest and the best time to do this is at night) as at night zombies could and will be waiting around every corner of any urban area and be upon you before its too late. So if traveling in a group sleep at night and take turns keeping watch. Never...NEVER use a car as the the noise will attract any zombie within miles and most roads will already be full of broken down cars, most of which will be full of zombies (people turned trying to escape), in fact unless you have access to an aircraft or boat then traveling via any form of transport is not recommended.
And what if you decided to stay and defend your home? how much water will you have before the supply is cut? how much food do you have and how long can and will it last for? and how will you barricade your house? while zombies posses the same abilities as any normal person (same strength and physical traits, but slowing going as the body decomposes) any barricade no matter how well constructed, built and maintained will only keep the walking dead out for so long, 3 to 5 zombies will take smash through any man made defense you put up. And what about attracting large zombie numbers? smashing stairs and hiding on your second floor (provided you have one) or on your roof will keep you out of arms length of any zombie, but what then? and what about the weather? you can and will get sick if exposed to the weather for too long. And when your house is surrounded by a horde of 100 + zombies being on your roof or second floor may provide protection from being eaten. but with no way out of your current location, with limited water and food and ammuition...you will simply starve to death.
You first posted saying everyone was big fail for guns lol, sorry but knife is the fail lol, I don't see how you can imagine getting surrounded and it being easier with a knife unless your imagining yourself ninja'ing all the zombies or somethin lol, how can you stop 2 zombies coming at you at the same time with aknife > >, skull isn't the hardest part of the body but still probably won't break it. You stab one then your screwed, at least with a rifle you can use it to push em away and beat them.
Your creating different situations for guns and knives, there's no reason you can go alone denfding yourself only when you need if you have a gun >.>.
The point of he topic is what would You do, but yea the best thing to do is leave and get away from populated areas, and taking just a knife is very unprepared for that lol, not to mention walking.
I think the roads depends on where you live, you sound like your talkin about a big city, I live in smaller town, maybe not that small but its just houses and small shops, the roads would be fine, hardly blockable. I'd get in my car, goto a gun store or some other place, before I do I would take a bat before I took a knife for self defense.
Your obviously talking about the slow zombies though, shooting them would be the easiest thing you'd ever have to shoot, but I still owuldn't risk coming in contact to stab them, i'd sooner run or use something like biggr to hit them or knock em down.

A motorcycle is fine, you move to fast for zombies to keep up and it doesn't use as much fuel. Helicopters are a bad idea.
No...if you can fly it a helicopter its PERFECT. Not only can you fly high above any and all zombies but you dont need a landing field to land, in fact all you really need is any building or flat area you can come to. As such if you can fly a helicopter or with someone who can then its a huge leap towards safety.

For some reason your inside, idk and office block or apartment, and you go around the corner and the zombie is RIGHT up in your face, now any rifle is useless as you cant rise it up, but with a knife all you have to do is stab either under the chin (into the head) of through the side of the head.

Yes guns are magnificent and a single shot WILL kill a zombie, but keep in mind that you still need a ballistic or silent weapon, a wooden baseball bat, non-sereted blade, hammer. Because if you think having a gun will let you to walk into any area and make as much noise as you can just because you can kill form a distance you are dead.
Imagen 10 to 20 zombies coming towards you, about 8 meters away. what do you do? fire your gun? try to kill them? well you could kill the first few with ease, but then the remaining zombies are less then 3-4 meters away from you and the noise of your shots have attracted ever more zombies. The BEST and the ONLY way to survive 100% against any zombie attack is NEVER to get into one, any weapons, guns, knifes, hammers or baseball bats should only be used in extremely circumstances when you have no choice but to fight back.

Since we're talking seriously here, I'll make a point. It's a lot harder to fight with a knife than people seem to think it is. Knife fighting, because it's close quarters combat, means you have to have extremely well trained reflexes, be able to block and counter with an attack without thinking, be able to fight more than one person at a time (which is EXTREMELY difficult), and be ready for almost any combat scenario. If you've never been in a fist fight and have no martial arts or boxing training, I wouldn't recommend knife as a weapon of choice.
I would recommend you get your ass on my train and we'll run over some mofos, and gun them down with Crim's chainsaw spear.

The main types of zombies are Dead and Alive basically. Dead ones are like Resident Evil/Night of the Living Dead style, slow, rotting, reanimated corpses that want to eat you. Fast aren't dead, but infected making them mindless and really agressive, like 28 Days Later, or Quarantine and just want to kill you.
Dead = Death by brain trauma or separation from the body Alive = Death like a normal pissed off person pretty much.
Not that I believe a zombie invasion will ever happen, but the fast zombie type is the most realistic >.>, have you seen quarantine, it's about rabies.
Your too worried about noise, you say what if there were alot of zombies around, then you say you shouldn't get in that situation, but if there were? Are you gonna knife your way out of em? lol The point is if your surrounded and you have a knife, your dead, while at the risk of noise(which isn't a big deal to me >.>) those with guns live.

In this scenario, these zombies are going to be slow right? Then it doesn't matter how loud or fast your vehicle is, they won't catch up. If really think i knife will save you in a zombie fight, then i don't want to be with you, death is assured to be with you. Helicopters are a bad idea, not only will it be hard to find a place to land it in a city to get fuel, it can't be used 24/7.
A better choice for long range travel would be a blimp. You can stock up on food and stay out of reach of the zombies.
And if 9/10 people are zombies, then ammo won't be a big problem.

Unless you're planning on taking your time you won't be able to simply stab through the skull. The ear is probably even harder to go for than behind the eye, but there is still bone behind your eye. Even a screwdriver would be better in that case because then it actually COULD fit into your ear, but you'd still be in for some serious work.

That's fine, because I have a gun. I'm automatically first in line vs the rest of the fools with hammers and baseball bats. If the store's empty/claimed I'll get in my plow truck and head to the next one. This is all in the event I ever run out of ammo or canned food at home, which would easily be months after the fact.

Guns can be used as blunt weapons too you know. There's also a bayonet lug and a bayonet for my AK that I have. You can't even play Left 4 Dead without knowing you can bash zombies with your gun.

That's why any shooting will be done from places they can't get to you. Like roofs, locked in places, etc. Of course we'll have knives and bats and such, but you're only asking for problems to be without a gun of some kind. Even having a pistol is a bad idea since they're pretty inaccurate, you'd be forced to get into a closer range to fire thus putting yourself in bigger danger.
Weapon 1. Nail gun. 2. Supersoaker filled with mace. 3. Compound bow. 4. Figure out how to turn my LCD TV into a portable shield-like taser. 5. Watch old episodes of Man vs. Wild and Survivorman and head into the wilderness where there are less people. Maybe find some survivors there.
