Have shaved them in the past didnt really itch either after a day or two... my tip would be do it on a friday night because my monday they wont itch anymore and you can go to work without looking like a pervert.
If anybody ever saw them I would shave them  but because they dont I am to lazy to bother so I trim will have to do...
Only other part of my body that ever gets shaved is my face and because I am not that hairy naturally that doesnt happen that often either.
