ok i get it. about U.S being the dominant power and spreading its influence, but shouldn't they be worrying about domestic problems before going international. and i never thought about the fact that if they help another country they will get trade privileges and other advantages.
That's what motivated the U.S. to go international in the first place. Before WWII, America was a very isolationistic country. We kept to our business and we got attacked at Pearl Harbor. From that point on, the U.S. changed foreign policy to be more proactive. The first purpose of going international was to insure domestic safety.
From there on out, the U.S. has promoted its influence. Only then, can we rest assured that we're safe. Economic ties with leading countries, global military, and peace treaties are keeping us on top. That way, other countries will not attack us and we prevent the 3rd world war, or atleast postpone it.
