Last.fm searches on bands related to each other. Last.fm relates them through people's libraries and how much those people like each artist. It's not a match of genres, but a match of artists liked by people who also like the band you search for.

Linkin Park is associated with the following genres Alternative rock, alternative metal, nu metal, rap rock but more often then not nu metal is their style ofc as with most bands some songs do cross over.

No where in my quick search did it relate them to hardcore metal, hardcore metal needs a hardcore element if any band was to be associated with this would need maybe marilyn manson or crossing over to something more oblivously harder in style slayer

slayer not 100% what genre that is actually but marilyn manson is commonly associated with gothic metal.

finally so you can prove disprove me do a simple google search see what you can find on the first page closest iv come to hardcore metal is hard rock and thats in a yahoo answer thing so not exactly reliable.

Linkin Park is definitely more hardcore than Marilyn Manson.:

you probably dont know much about them because they are very underground hiphop.

although i did read on the net that they might do a hip hop/metal mixtap with linkin park. just like jayz did but with whole new songs, not remixes

but when linkin park went with jay-z they slaughtered good songs it was like some religious ceromony they took the heart them from songs and gave it to the god like corperation for money...

also curious to what linkin park songs you consider hardcore metal as each album is considerably different in a number of ways
