Online hockey is the best developed of all the games. You make a team with your friends and each person is locked to a position. You climb the team ladder. At the end of the season you play playoffs and eventually go head to head in person.
I know madden now has some team play, but in hockey it's really 1 goalie, 2 d-men, and 3 forwards on each side. You practice your plays and set ups. It gets pretty intense.
As for XBL, I just realized i'm paying nearly $10 a month and i've had it for years. I should just pay the annual fee 0.o
I'm guessing Online is in Be-A-Pro. Was wondering do you see your guy in third-person view or you see everyones player from the usual "bird" view. Was dissapointed when Multiplayer Be-A-Pro on FIFA 2010 was from a "birds" view
I'd switch the D-pads tho.
@Dom, Dang that sounds pretty fun. It's been so long since I've played an NHL game I didn't know how shit was going down in them these days. 1 person per character sounds like it would be crazy fun and you'd actually have to show some skill.

Online you can pick your own camera view. When playing goalie, it's almost a necessity to be in BAP view.
One thing I like is the speed of hockey. In hockey, everyone is important in the play, even defensemen. I know in games like fifa, if you're locked to a position you spend a lot of time running in a circle (i've played fifa online).
There's a player progression system where you unlock attributes to customize your player (like str/dex/int/etc. in rpgs) and equipment.
Here's an example. Not a thrilling game and the D was horrendous, but it's a 6v6 game. Of course on xbox you would be in a party and talking to each like you would in real life.
I don't think people who spend 50$ a year on online would mind about having to pay 10$ more

I hate the third person view, makes the screen move too much (or something like that <,<). always used bird's view when playing Be a Pro.

That's pretty awesome. A few bad things... 70 bucks for a controller is a little steep... and why didn't they just build the battery into the damn thing already I'm going to laugh if all they did was make the actual D-pad raise up and not fix the control mechanism that made it so shitty to begin with.(meaning its still not going to know the difference between, up and left, and up-left.
I used to use my xbox a lot and only my xbox. The reason for that is because I played a lot of NHL09/10/11 and played competitively.
Now that I think that's over, I will cancel my XBL membership. I have been using my PS3 more and more and I like it better now.
As for my Wii, well... it's a Wii. I would have been better off spending the money on socks or something.
Never knew ppl played NHL competitively. Down here its Madden.
My wii was fun for maybe the first... ummm... week? Then after that it just got lame. Only has A/V plugs and can't play dvds... such a fail.

Omfg Club games are ridiculously awesome. Im a LW with around 700 games and i had 1650 points I played on the PS3 (both nhl 10 and ill get nhl 11 soon)
Btw. having played with both consoles I prefer the PS3 by far. Personally, i like the controllers much better, most of my friends have ps3's and online is free!

The skill level on XBOX is definitely higher. Amazingly higher.
A friend and I came to PS3 near the middle-end of last season and right away found a spot on a top 10 team and played in the playoffs on the first line.
On XBOX our team is usually in the top 10 as well but with a lot of hard work. On PS3 everything was a cake walk and the game is not as complete.
Online console gaming is over rated IMO. I think online games should be just for RTS and MMORPG games. Most fps are a carbon copy of the previous with improved graphics. You shoot someoe, revive, whoo hoo? I'd rather spend those 10 dollars in th theater or something

Why fix something that isn't broken? There's a reason they're popular.

You obviously don't know what you're talking about... If you're going to generalize FPS games like that you might as well say all RTS and MMORPGs are carbon copies of themselves... Of course each game type has the same core game play... that's why it falls under that genre I don't even know what to say about the over rated part, that make even less sense, but its in your opinion so meh.
@Dom - Damn I so envy you right now. Do you have the usb or a converter? (I was wondering which would be better to get. Nvm I see the usb.

USB.
Works fine and feels fine except for the faceplate is upside down.
If I could redo it again though, I would take a converter.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm sure I have plenty of old NES SNES and maybe even a few N64(shit stick) controllers so 3 converters will do the trick. Now just gotta update meh macbook pro to the latest model

-Already have the Dell keyboard
My work keyboard/mouse are dell.
At home I use a magic mouse + wireless mac keyboard with my macbook pro, a Sidewinder X6 (?) and Intellimouse 2.0 with my PC, and I have a MX5500 set for whenever I need a portable set to leave home with.
I hate the dell keyboard/mouse with a passion. I applied for a new job and if I get it, I think i'm going to bring in my MX5500.

GTFO already! I can't take it!
I'd be a little better off... but... for some reason when it comes to my computers my wife doesn't think I need all that... (as she goes out and spends 120 bucks on a pair of jeans...)
