its hardly that bad here in the uk we have some really farked up laws
  1. It is illegal for a cab in the City of London to carry rabid dogs or corpses.
  2. It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament.
  3. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside
    down.
  4. Royal Navy ships that enter the Port of London must provide a barrel of rum to the Constable of the Tower of London.
  5. In the UK, a pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants – even, if she so requests, in a policeman’s helmet. (this one iv heard actually been put into use)
  6. In London, Freemen are allowed to take a flock of sheep across London Bridge without being charged a toll; they are also allowed to drive geese down Cheapside. (this was done earlier this year with the geese)
  7. In the UK, a man who feels compelled to urinate in public can do so only if he aims for his rear wheel and keeps his right hand on his vehicle. (iv done this many a time as a kid)
  8. In London, it is illegal to flag down a taxi if you have the plague.
  9. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast is legally the property of the King; the tail, on the other hand, belongs to the Queen - in case she needs the bones for her corset.

now tell me who has the worlds most stupid laws

also fyi stupidest isnt a word im not a nazi or anything as i have terrible spelling and grammar but im just saying

You guys have to realize laws are set for a reason.
At some point someone must have broken it.
Some guy rode a taxi with a corpse, and some guy died in parliament. I'm sure a beached whale has troubled the UK before as to who owns it legally.

yeah, that's the argument, but i am possibly the safest rider, i know i can't predict the future, even though i AM wearing a helmet now, big helmets, do make you look like a douche bag, unless they suit you, such as push bike riders, they look great, me with medium long hair, and a bmx helmet, my hair just comes out the ends, and covers my eyes, NO IM NOT GETTING A HAIRCUT.

Bikes are classed as a form of vehicle in Australia. You obey all road rules while riding a bike on the road (stop signs, giving way, on the right side of the road etc) so it's only natural he warned you about that. The footpath thing I agree with; bikes are considered a vehicle and usually have dedicated bicycle lanes on busier roads to ease traffic. You shouldn't be on the footpath at all, either ride on the road, the bicycle lane or in the "pullover" lanes on the side of most roads.

One a more humorous note, it's also illegal to ride a bike whilst under the influence of alcohol. Doing so can result in the loss of your car/bike/vehicle license as it is class as such. This also applies to tractors, lawn mowers and even horses. The exception with the horse, though (or so I've been told in legal studies back in the day) is that if you can prove the horse is acting on it's own free will and you are not controlling it, than your technically not riding it. So if you can train your horse to take you to a destination simply by saying a single word and you don't need to use the reigns to control it, than it's legal. I thought it was pretty funny.

Helmet is basically the same as a seatbelt, it's common sense.

Helmets are stupid , especially in Brisbane and Melbourne with the rental bike systems they have. I mean seriously, who carries around a helmet just to use a rent-a-bike? There's similar systems in European cities (namely Paris) that I've used, and the fact there's no bicycle helmet laws, it works fine. I've only ever seen a few people in Brisbane, and even less in Melbourne use the stupid things.

if you have the intent to rent a bike i could imagine you wanting to carry one around.
last i checked, bikers are to follow the laws of the road here too, stop signs and all. they usually dont.

Ever since I remember Ive been riding without a helmet. On top of that I usually have my earplugs in or wearing my headset, but I know where to look so I never got into an accident or what ever. Learning kids to ride their bike properly is alot more important than to slap a helmet on them and be done with it.

Learning how to ride properly, watch out for other drivers, learning to signal right etc etc is alot more important than a helmet. I'm talking about kids here, a helmet will save them from a fall maybe but if they fail to properly signal and get run over by a car, or even a truck that helmet wont have much use.

Yeah it's alot, it won't save your kid from a car or truck going 50+, maybe his brain will be saved but his, or her, body will be splattered.
