Experience is the most important thing when you're thinking about buying a fast car.

Buy an impreza or whatever else you were looking at (forgotten), and you'll have either destroyed it or be dead within a year.

OR

You'll have barely driven it, or driven it extremely slowly which makes getting it pointless.

+ infinity.

The problem is you're never alone on the roads. For example there are people who just got their driving license and their daddy's bought em a new sports car and who greatly overestimate their driving skill and experience and who are too cool to drive a car that can't break the sound barrier... You get the picture.

To be honest I currently drive a vintage car that is a almost guaranteed death in the event of a crash... But I'll definately be buying another, safer car when I'll have offspring.

so basically you dont agree with me saying get a piece of shit but you dont like under-experianced kids driving fast cars aka this thread what place do you stand?

also what car? i have a 1972 vw bettle atm undergoing a wizard conversion

Dude, that's the WORSE kind of mentality you could possible have before driving. Never think it's ok to drive recklessly simply because no one else will be involved.

In my opinion it's stupid to buy a piece of shit. Also, I have no problem with under-experienced kids driving fast cars as long as they drive responsibly. If one can't drive responsibly he should not drive at all.

Whats worse are the kids that have fun traffic weaving and car surfing, imo its not so bad if i crash alone, and i kill myself, but if i crash and kill others around me, its much worse...

I'm a responsible driver, although most probably think I contradict myself, because I said I drive recklessly, I don't drive 24/7 like that. A few times I do, and I can't recall the last time I did, because it's winter time right now, and I don't mess around with ice and snow... Im smart enough to know that

Dont ask for advice if you dont want it.

I'm pretty sure we (the ones who have years of experience behind us) know more about this than someone who's looking to buy his first car.

Yea true its my first car, but I have friends and family members which know more about cares than all of us gathered together, why am I so sure? Example: My closest uncle has worked for GM for nearly 20 years on their secret test track here in montreal, as a safety test, and safety module tester, he's driven nearly all the cars to get accepted for the quebec standards, he knows what he's talking about, and I thought well it might not hurt to ask people around the world, right? Not to have a biased opinion... Guess it didn't work out so well

Never said I didn't want advice, I just said that the advice people gave me we'rent good, as in they we'rent comments and critics I was asking for. I don't need people telling me i'm a blind guy that cant drive to save my own life, and that I shouldnt do this or that or this.

My question was simple... Out of these cars, which one have you driven, and did you like it? I never asked you people to comment on how im spending my money, I never asked you about my insurance nor did I ask you about how I drive...

You guys just happily trolled...

Don't be sure about that really. lulz

Anyways It's a good thread.. for anyone who want to learn more about the cars.
Even though you don't get the answer that you asked for. xD

If anyone has as much experience with cars than my uncle, please come forth and enlighten me on these cars and which he thinks is the best value, and give me good feed back, and not tell me to get a 2,000$

The only reason im asking the forum is because my uncle (he says it himself) is addicted to mazda... So he says himself that he will bloat more about the mazda 3 than the golf...

If you think im sarcastic about this fine, but I don't need to know that, I want comments, likes and dislikes, about the cars I posted.

Well.. if you want an actual recommendation i would go for the Mazda 3 as thats the least likely car that you'll kill someone in. And.. golfs are boring now.. too many people have them.

If you want a fun car, go for the impreza. But your crazy if you get that as a first car.

Wow thanks, wasnt hard right? honest answer, and thanks for it. Although you still think im a blind guy driving, its okay... You don't know me nor do I know you, you've never seen me drive. Just saying...

Only thing thats stopping me from buying the impreza is how the previous owner treated the car...

The asumption that anyone who's only recently gotten their driverslicence cannot drive and will surely dent / wreck their car is kinda misplaced imo.

I've had my licence for about 1,5 years, i haven't got a single fine, dent or scratch on my car yet myself.
The only dent my car has is from when my mom needed it to get my grandma to the hospital T__T she backed up into a little pole at the hospital entrance >.> *sigh*

Experience isn't always everything, it's mainly about your mentality imo.
If you drive normaly, leave home in time, don't always friggin stress like some people do- you'll be fine.

Also: I own a Toyota Starlet myself atm, it's a really decent car, not expensive or anything either.
I've thought of buing a mitsubishi evo 6, but i don't truely need it so much atm and the toyota still runs fine.

I'dd - get a cheap car if you don't need it to often and gotta pay for it yourself.
Get a nice car if your parents feel like taking a big part of the costs on them xD

Well seeing as how you don't want a honda, go try out the Nissan Altima, or Sentra, both of them are within your range and they are pretty nice. Also don't mind some of the people in the thread, while most of them are trying to advise you for your own good some are probably just jealous they didn't get a nice first car.

I agree, i dont think all new driver are bad.
But generally.. new drivers dont realise how bad other drivers can be. Stuff like that comes only with experience.

I'm on my fourth car (crashed two), and i've only been driving for 4 years.

First car i crashed going too fast at 3am. I used to drive like a dick in my first year.. but i didnt realise it.

Second car i crashed because some old man in a 4x4 infront of me was indicating left. I went to go past him, and he turned right. Wrote off my car, even though i only collided at about 20, but because his was a Range Rover Sport.. so it was solid. No witnesses so i couldnt even claim for it. Loved that car. :(

Trust me, your driving will change a lot in the next few years (not just in terms of skill). I'm sure everyone would agree with that.

I drive a purple 95 lumina with a sunburn on the hood. But, they sell plastic spinners at Walmart that you can stick onto your hub caps - so it's not like the car hurt my game that much.

If I were you I wouldn't worry. I would be weary to get any of those based on insurance costs alone.

Don't buy a 2-door. Not only will insurance suck ass but your friends will never let you drive if you are taking more than one person. Nobody likes having to climb over a seat to get into a car.

I have a 2-door truck. Best gas saving investment ever.

TLDR: I'm never the person who drives us places.

56 replies and I think I might know less about cars than what I knew coming into this thread :soosad:

Yea but you bought a truck to pull a boat, not to drive people to the lake.
