If I'm not mistaken, I believe Stanford holds its scholarship athletes to the same academic standards as any other student trying to get into school. A lot of colleges do this instead of using the NCAA minimum test requirement. This means he'd need above average scoring on his SAT in order to get the scholarship. Usually, athletes that are to receive a scholarship in athletics are asked to sign a letter of intent. The letter is basically a contract that states the student-athlete is not allowed to back out once he signs it, yet the university can retract his scholarship at any given time for any given reason, including sub-standard SAT/ACT scores.

If you're planning on college, don't mess around. You will only learn as much as you want. And if you're going for athletics, keep in mind they still hold you to the same standards as everyone else.

If you get an athletics scolarship to an NCAA sanctioned school, you are still required to take either the SAT or ACT. You know that, right? By not taking one of the two, you are deemed ineligible by the NCAA. And you have to meet a minimum requirement on the test.

the minimum requirement for most NCAA college athletes that are recruited is somewhat in the high hundreds to low thousands..and yes that is based on the new 2400 scale.

= you can be a tard and still get in if youre an athlete, you get 600 points for your name and the other 200-500 you need you can get by basically guessing your way through the test.

you lose points for wrong answers....so if your dumb or choose to guess you could very well end up with a score below 600....not to mention that i don't think Stanford would give full ride scholarships for swimming without showing some academic prowess. Ppl seem to think that if they're good at one thing thats all it takes but im willing to bet there are at least 100 other students out there in the world who can swim just as fast if not faster and actually have great GPA's....your competition with ivy league schools isn't just for county or your state or your country its with the entire world...

Yup. Everything you said is right, except... Stanford is a Pacific-10 school, not Ivy League
