Best way to find out and put the issue is to go and get tested, simple as that.

This, is what I know, in Soda terms, Stages of cold sore: -Virus is dormant under the skin of the affected area -Something triggers it to awaken (massive temperature change, stress or skin trauma (in the infected area, something like shaving for example) -Virus bursts out, pusses -Chills for a few days, and pusses(this is the its contagious) -Yellow scab forms (virus becomes dormant again), still can be contagious -Scab falls off, still red, eventually skin returns to its normal state. Ways of transmission: -Kissing (lips to lips) -Mouth to genitalia -Mouth to other areas of possible infect, especially the nose (mucus tract), hands Ways of unproven transmission (ie, believed to impossible ways of transmission): -3rd party objects. ie...towels, walls, toilet seats. sharing drinks. Of course its better safe than sorry. I've always believe that the oral strain (A), and the genital strain (B) were completely different and couldn't be transferred to the other, however I believe I may be wrong. The same virus that causes herpes may also cause shingles, but thats a whole other story. Quote: No information is guaranteed correct, and may be entirely wrong. But I'm pretty sure of most of it.

Where can herpes simplex 2 infect you? Mouth too right? And eyes (fuggin' gross). Just an afterthought.
BTW, I don't THINK she has it, but I guess it's possible :S I hope she doesn't.

I said I didn't think so because their boyfriend doesn't have herpes, and she doesn't cheat on him, so I dunno where this is coming from. She says she thinks you can get it from a coldsore though...
Anyways, knowledge needed pl0x Part of the problem is semantics. - Cold sores are small blisters on the face, usually near the mouth or nose.
Cold sores caused by HSV-1 can be called 'oral herpes'.
- Cold sores are passed on by direct skin to skin contact.
- Cold sores can be spread by touching with the finger then touching another part of the body (like the eye).
- They can be passed to genitals through oral sex. If this happens and the partner develops 'genital herpes' from it, this is the same underlying condition as cold sores, but just on a different part of the body. This is NOT the same as HSV-2.
Most people come into contact with cold sores (HSV-1) during childhood. Herpes can be transmitted even if there are no signs of an outbreak (when the virus is 'shedding'). HSV 1 and/or HSV 2 can be carried with very mild symptoms, or sometimes no symptoms at all, called being asymptomatic. The only way to determine if genital herpes is HSV-1 or HSV-2 is with a type-specific herpes serology (blood test). Hope this helps. Here's a link for more information: How is Herpes Transmitted (by Answers.com) ~Grandpa DISCLAIMER: I'm not a doctor, but I saw somebody play one on TV.

Thanks gramps.
I already found out it's not herpes though. Because hsv-1 and hsv-2 aren't the same, it's possible it's hsv-1 and she just never had it before (so the outbreak is bad, but it will only happen a few more times in her life, or maybe never again). Otherwise it's some other weirdass shit.
