the only thing wrong here is the fact that the person who's lived there doesn't know about his country's indian slaves. And yes they are slaves, incomparable to mexicans in the united states because minimum wage actually applies to them, whereas indians in the UAE make jack shit and don't leave their camps except for on a certain day where they get like 4 hours off.

@ TOloseGT: A VERY small population of the country is poor, the UAE has a very effective, and unique way of governing the country, theres no democracy. Yep thats right no voting, when the president died (sheik ziad, a really nice person) the next person who came into power was one of his many sons. Money there is great, no taxes, what you see is what you get. Government takes no money from you. And the reason most ppl are rich there because the government has this kind of program they will build your business or workplace and everything for free, but every year you a small percent of the businiess income goes to pay back for construction, loads of ppl are well to do there. really really great country

1. They DO use Indian slaves to BUILD their cities and houses.

USA uses Mexicans, Australia uses Asians...

2. The country itself isn't all that rich! The people who live there are.

3. Regardless of how much oil PER DAY they export, when their black gold runs dry, what will they export?

4. I don't think anyone in the Middle East could call where they live Paradise.

Wait, your telling the person who's lived there that they use slaves? And you've never lived there? Theres something wrong with that

I've been there, I've seen them working their asses off and getting paid little money.

Population distribution of Dubai:

42.3% Indian
17% Emirati
13.3% Pakistani
9.1% Arab
7.5% Bangladeshi
10.8% Others

Between Central Asian and Indian workers, they're 90% of the construction workers in Dubai. I never said it was just Indians, but when he said they don't have Indian slaves, that just wasn't correct.

1. That's just a retarded rumor, but a majority of their construction builders are Pakistani.
They're not slaves, they get paid and they are free to leave or quit whenever they like, and they get benifits

2. It's estimated that the oil there will at LEAST be there for another 250 years, that's not counting all the oil that they'll find in that time.

3. CLEARLY the country isn't rich, that really shows what you know..

And if they do run out, they can export LOADS of other stuff the country is abundant in resources, mostly gold and oil.

4. That's just a racist statement, I've lived all over the place and I can say that the middle east is a wonderful place to live, much better then the west.

I'd place a bet on my life if the media didn't have such an impact on your judgment your mentality towards the middle east would be completely different.

United Arab Emirates at the way they are going with their oil it will last only 106 years. Canada on the other hand has 182 years left. Unless they find new reserves I doubt they will be living like they are right now later on in the future. I doubt they make enough money from oil to do all the shit they do by paying the workers at least $10. If they can afford all this crap why can't other countries. I don't see UAE and the way they are going being good later on. Like an indoor ski resort, why the **** would they build one. If the people are so rich there just go on vacation once in a while to some cold place.

you have indian slaves, they are only there because as tough shit they have it there (the camps, 5-10 indians in a room, 12+ hr workdays, no free time), 1 damn dirham is almost 12 rupees, that is Farking GOLD to them. Their passports are confiscated due to importing costs that are unknown to them after UAE "recruiters" get them from India by importing them, then they are in debt and have to work years to pay it off just to be able to leave the UAE, while all along thinking they went there to be able to make a living and send parts of their salaries to their families back home in India.

Code: Select all
Code: Select all

theres so much more, watch documentaries by BBC, CNN, 60 minutes, and individually made vids. They're slaves.

They still have to work, its not like everyone there slacks off.

Most of the things happening is for tourism, why would they go all the way over to say Canada or any other country to ski, when they have it in their mall?

Can you cite that?

I'm not saying there's no low-payed Pakis there, there are lots. But they choose to come to the UAE, and they can go whenever they like. If they choose to come here their living conditions must be much worse where they were at. They're not slaves.

@ MrFudge: lol. I live in Canada. As you said, its gold to them theyre not there against their will, they are not OWNED by someone, that makes them NOT SLAVES.

yes they are basically OWNED by someone because they are deprived of any possible way of leaving the country, they are bound by contract, their passports are taken, they are fed a cup or two cups of rice a day, and sleep with a couple thousand other indians in concentration camps with a handful of people in their cubicles they call "rooms" because they are in Farking debt since day 1. All because companies like this guys

The Indians are taught no better, they're born and bread into slavery.

Quote:
Human Trafficking & Modern-day Slavery

United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) is a destination country for men and women trafficked for the purposes of labor and commercial sexual exploitation. Women from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, and the Philippines travel willingly to the U.A.E. to work as domestic servants, but some subsequently face conditions of involuntary servitude such as excessive work hours without pay, unlawful withholding of passports, restrictions on movement, non-payment of wages, and physical or sexual abuse. Similarly, men from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan are drawn to the U.A.E. to work in the construction industry, but are often subjected to similar conditions of coercive labor and to debt bondage as they work to pay off recruitment costs sometimes exceeding the equivalent of two years’ wages. Women from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia, Uganda, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, the Philippines, Iraq, Iran, and Morocco are reportedly trafficked to the U.A.E. for commercial sexual exploitation. Some foreign women were reportedly recruited to work as secretaries or hotel workers by third country recruiters, but were coerced into prostitution or domestic servitude. The U.A.E. may also serve as a transit country for women trafficked into forced labor in Oman, and men deceived into working involuntarily in Iraq. During the last year, there were no new reports of children identified as trafficked for the purpose of camel jockeying, and the U.A.E. repatriated at least three former child camel jockeys from Sudan.

And you say there's no slaves, working for litte / no pay. PLEASE - You saying you're from there is disgraceful when you don't even know what's going on. If you need further proof, don't worry, I can find that too.

Oh plz. Everyone in this thread is on a high horse. Like you all know all the gory details about your country. Like you all CARE to know all the seedy details about your country. Like if you were told what your countries did behind closed doors you wouldn't be surprised. I've been on this forum long enough to to know the kind of mindsets the ppl who posted in this thread have and its a load of BS. If they use a form of slavery oh well, your not going to do anything about it, your not even going to care about it once you leave this thread, so don't gang up on the kid and tell him wheres he's from is disgraceful and he should be more aware cause the same words apply to everyone in every country. The exploitation of labor is a business and whether you want to believe it or not its the cornerstone of a capitalist society. There is slave labor in the US, look it up, you'll find sweatshops with the same kind of labor force being used in Dubai, only they do it behind more closed doors. So stfu because you didn't care about it going on in your own country (still don't) so don't act like you care about it going on in someone else's country.

Every post from Xemmas I've seen has been an attempt at controlling someone, which usually works in absolute opposites, people flame him, and he flames back.

OT(ish): We wouldn't be even talking about this if he didn't come back all guns blazing, stating that WE were wrong, and they they don't slave people. THEY DO!

+1

Everyone really need to stfu, imo there is nothing wrong going on there, they are getting paid, and they are not totally unhappy with their life, if they stayed at India things would be much worse for them.

If they're paid, and they have no physical owners, they are not slaves. They might be abused, poorly paid, have horrid work conditions, but it's still a better life than the one they left behind. Otherwise, the tons of people that make up the giant chunk of population quoted would not be there.

There's a difference between "slave" and living in "bad conditions". Living the West makes people ignorant of that. When you come from a country that has a GDP dipping under $3,000, your standards of living are dramatically lower then the typical white American. When you come from a country of difficulty, you're thankful of having any job at all.

Yep, and plus. I watched a documentary from abc news that said if they refuse work or go on strike (which is illegal there)they are sent back home. So who ever would want to leave wouldn't escape he'd just simply stop working.

I once again, quote what MrFudge said. Dystopia, read the whole thing, don't just quote me and try prove me wrong. MrFudge has already explained it, if they try to leave, or don't work they're withheld in a jail!

That makes no sense, if the government are willing to spend no more money on them they are put in a jail where they do no work, they are just getting free necessities when thrown in jail, so if someone refuses to work in those already poor conditions they get thrown in jail where they are taken care of no work. and don't tell me their jails are like holes either your information is flawed. It even says in part two of mr fudges video IF YOU TELL ME THATS WRONG that means everything said in that video is questionable which doubts everything you said.

Code: Select all

In the end im not saying its okay, but they are not slaves.

Check out Dubai's next project:

A Skyscraper with rotating floors. It's a way to eliminate the differing prices between a condo that faces the beach from a condo that does not. xD
