Its legal? Not in the UK.

Quote:
The United Kingdom made it a criminal offense to carry a knife in public and for anyone under the age of 18 to purchase a knife (The Criminal Justice Act 1988 and the Offensive Weapons Act 1996).

What is Illegal:
- Possession: With limited exceptions, it is illegal to carry any sharp or bladed instrument in a public place.

- Examples: flick knives, switchblades, gravity knives, butterfly knives, etc.

- Exceptions: You may carry a knife in public if there is legal authority or good reason.

Offensive Weapon: It illegal to carry something that could be viewed as an offensive weapon and then to use it in a threatening way.

And if your not capable of running.. your not going to stand a chance against someone attacking you even if you have a knife.

Gotta love that line.
If you're not capable of running, you're not going to stand a chance against someone attacking you, even if you have a knife xD?

How exactly are fighting skills and running related?
You can be a huge strong guy who mastered several fighting techniques, while not being able to run fast < in which case running from a guy attacking you- would be quite dumb.

You can be like me, a pretty good runner and semi-decent fighter (as i've not fought in quite a while), i'dd still take my chances with a knife rather than turning my back to my attacker and hoping he's not faster than i am..... UNLESS i can obiously see the one attacking me is fat / has a posture not made for running at all.... then i'dd rather run.

Heavy fines if you carry a knife around here, unless it's a work knife in a pair of work pants.

Why would a huge strong guy be attacked? And why would he need a knife to fight back anyway?

Anyway.. im gonna stop posting here anyway cos i think my views are making people angry.

It was an exaggerated example of a situation like that.

It was only about you drawing a relationship between fighting skill and running capability.
There is obiously a relation to a certain extend, as mostly fit people can run decently.. and most fighters are fairly fit.
Enough fighters will not be trained in running though, so if who-ever attacks them has a good short sprint- being a capable runner will be useless aswell.

So in short: being able to defend yourself- with a weapon perferably... or bare handed if you have to, is usualy a better solution than running, unless the one who's attacking you has a body that cannot be good for a sprint while you're pretty fast yourself, or your attacker has a better weapon / holds a knife while you're unarmed and so not giving you much of a chance to win. OR you're a really small / not so fit or strong guy yourself, and your attacker is xD

Even a big guy would be in trouble against an enemy with a knife... especialy if he runs xD...

Attackers arent always obvious as hostiles either, they can seem friendly untill the one helping them stabs you in the back or gets you in a neck hold.

So you'd rather die yourself than put up a fight? Great logic there...

If someone is willing to get past the fact that you have a deadly weapon and still comes after you it's very likely that they are looking to cause you major harm or death. But hey if you want to die without putting up a fight that's your decision.
Meh.. Of course not. But it's not that simple.
Well, everyone don't carry a knife... and I definitely don't want to.

Btw: You can learn techniques of real self-defense. You know!

And please note that killing someone in self defense does not mean you go to jail for murder, it is very situational.
Well, most likely you wont go to jail if you can prove you killed in self-defense.

Well, its not like he's going to say something else, sine he would be dead, and if they find a record on the person you killed, for example, he was already in jal for doing something bad, etc, they will most likely believe you, ofc, if someone tries to steal from your house, you wake up, they run away, and you anything to them, thats murder, cuz they gave up, but if you are defending yourself, its a different story :)

Damn... interesting "Quote"! Isn't it?

Quote:
Self Defense Law

Deadly force, that is, force likely to cause death or great bodily harm, is justified under self defense law only if a person reasonably believes that such force is necessary to prevent death or great bodily harm to themselves or others. In this case, if you pursue an adversary, then kill him, you can be assured your defense of self-defense will fail. You will go to prison for manslaughter, at the minimum, and possibly even murder.

If you injure or kill someone, no matter what the circumstances, you WILL be arrested and charged with a crime. The police will not make the assumption that you acted in self-defense. The police are not responsible for making that decision. They will let the courts sort that out.
