You're supposed to be.. well I'm just going to say 'good' for the entire month. If a turk says fack mather to you then reply back thats haram and bam! He should stop replying.

It's a well known fact that you only start fasting when you reach puberty. Don't give me this "kids are forced to do it" bullshit. If there really is cases like this, then those are rare. Oh and I didn't get a word from that Jain thing.

This just had to become another religion thread.

I started it during 2nd grade with my own will after thinking "I could do it." Considering sun went down at 4~5pm ish it was easy since got out of school. Play for a bit and it was dinner time.

I really hate how we can never have a decent conversation. Though when it comes to Christmas oh boy it's a good conversation of how much we hate our presents! I really hate you guys. I tend to delete my post a few seconds after I write something up, because I think to myself "I'm just being an ass." Which tends to throw the topic off it's direction either the entire thread (which in this case is happening) or for a page or two

No, but at the age of 15 they can decide for their self.

Oh really? Tell that to my sister. I personally don't care, but please don't generalize EVERYONE into this.

But you know what would be a great idea I personally think which anyone fasting should think about would be donating the money saved up which would be spent on food, which isn't due to fasting so you can help the poor and suffering from the drought.

Sorry about derailing the thread more..

Shouldn't that be for everyone in general? Do you really need to have a bunch of lights on every holiday wasting electricity that could have been sent to starving children across the world? Africa isn't the only place.

15 is a respectable age... I have no disagreement with that, but grade 5 is far too young.

Yea, it's not a common occurrence among people living in secular counties who are Muslims, but in the Middle east in places like Iran it's very much a problem there.

Yes all people should do this, but this is a good suggestion that I through in. And while it is true people are starving in other places, but maybe if you paid attention you would know this is right now the worst drought in a long time and is very severe and over 10 million can be affected by it by it with about a ration of 7.3 per 10,000 per day, with the death toll at 10 which I assume is actually higher and will get much higher.

I didn't say I would ignore it, just that I wouldn't take part of it.

So, what's the point? Everyone mind their own business.
You guys shouldn't care what others think, and viceversa.
I think it's something obnoxious to do, but I have nothing against it.

We've already went through the reason why we do it earlier in this thread but as for when it happens, it's different every year. It pretty much goes back 2 weeks every year. It's based on the lunar year.

Thread is cleaned, and though I have little faith in you guys being able to have a discussion without flinging insults to each other, I will reopen it shortly.

And when it is opened, I demand that whoever decides to take part in it, does so in a decent manner. There's no need to force your ideas and beliefs upon others, or to insult those that think about something different than you do.
Respect others, learn from them, wish them luck.
And if you cannot cough up the decency, stay out of this thread.

Anyone attempting to turn this into a flamefest will be banned until the Ramadan is over.

First of all i agree with Ruyi.Learning about diffrent culture is amazing i guess.According to ur question, u never know how beatiful this is without living.Mothers cooking most delicious foods at this time. When i was a kid especially bayrams(holiday after ramadan) was important for my economy :D All elders were giving me money, lots of money.

This kind of activities obtain family togetherness. If u r vexed with somebody u have to make peace in that period. This is obligatory.Religions are good things for society. But these days they bring hate because of misinterpret and ignorantness.Really sorry about my english.
