Yesterday I dl'd ubuntu and attempted to install it. It got to the point that I partitioned my drive I gave it 20 gig just so I could mess around with it. When it came time to install the systems files it told me there was some error and it couldn’t install. So I am now stuck with a 20gig partition that’s just sitting there. I have tried using G-parted to remerge the them. All I can do is erase the partition or reduce its size. Either way it leaves unallocated space that I cant do anything with. Next it tried using partdisk within windows xp, but it wont allow me to expand my current boot partition into the unallocated space. So. Does anyone here know how cause my boot partition to reacquire the 20 gigs I gave up? Preferably id like to avoid paying to do it.

Thanks guys.

When you run the restore disc for xp, doesn't it give you the option of clearing old partitions?

I had serious issue with my old labtop that had xp on it. The xp disc that restored the OS will boot up, but once you get to the menu. There's an option to clear old partitions. You can select which one you want. At least my hp xp os disc had that. I used it alot when i had a nasty virus and when messing with different partitions.

delete it then extend your old partition to use that unallocated space
