Someone wants Poland dead! Yankees or Russkies? And why in 'ell they were using an ancient, noisy and rough Tupolev? Anyway, pretty tragic, and damn ironic considering where they were going.

I bet the military leaders aboard told the pilot to land in Smolensk when they were suggested to land in Minsk. "What's some fog to a Polish pilot, huh? We're going to Smolensk, so land there, pilot."
But isn't it about as ironic as it can get, that they were going to a memorial service held in honor of 22,000 Polish who were murdered by Stalin.
Actually The Polish seeked justice earlier regarding the massacre, and Putin invited them to this fateful memorial.... Makes one to wonder....

I feel really bad for them, they lost like all their head honchos. But what was the polish government thinking when they were using such an outdated plane? I just looked up the Tu-154 and it was introduced in 1972. I mean shouldn't the leaders of a country have the best and most advanced equipment/vehicles? And poland isn't a poor country.

He lead rebels, meaning he wasn't President at the time or he would have been leading the Polish military.

Exactly my point.. Look at it this way.. George Washington leading the Continental army... From the eyes of the brits he was a rebel....

What the hell were they thinking, putting all those people together on 1 plane at the first place. That's just asking for Murphy's Law to come knockin'

Perhaps Putin said in his invitation that "Oh by the way, use just one old and cheap plane when you come, alright?"

A lot of old designs are still flying today. The 747 comes to mind. 1972 is actually pretty recent considering.
