I've never played the first 1 but In the third one Depends on what the situation is but I would usually build up my econemy quickly, Get loads of resourses and build a few army's...Then I Send each group in a 3 minuted interval...Yeah

Why send them in 3 minute intervals? It's better to have one huge army instead of a bunch of little ones, one after another.
Send in let's say 10 infantrymen, half get killed by archers, the other half damaged alot, then they get wiped out by infantry, rinse and repeat 10 times, you killed 6 men.
If you send 100 infantry men, 5 are killed by archers, and 10 hurt alittle bit, you wipe out the rest of them.
Now tell me, how is the first one better?
Anyways, the point of my post here is that bigger armies=WAY better.
Also, best tactic is to build a medium economy first, then a medium large army, let your army rest and let your economy boom so you get a huge inflow or resources, make your army huge then attack.
Pro hint= While your army is dying, start to build another, and get it sent in before your first army dies, that way it's excellent reinforcements, and the first soldiers who are still alive can act as a meat shield .
Good luck.
Oh yeah, also make some priests, but priests are sort of like masteries in SRO, it's either all or nothing. Why have level 30 cold when you can have 90? 30 is useless. So if you are to build any priests, build like 25 of them, then when they're all done converting, you have 25 more men, if you build an entire army of priests, well, let's just say that's badass.
You and your friend should just get Civ IV, you don't need the expansion packs. Civ is better IMO and requires more strategy. (although they're recommended).

creating an army of priests is retarded because you only get priests in a later stage and if you focus on them only you'll need to have a VERY strong economy and you'll be owned crazy if they come for you earlier.
I don't know the racial abilities in AOE1 and I don't know if they exist there already but I highly suggest picking a race that has a +xx food start or a race that requires no houses or if neither are available a +xx wood start.
When you start the game you will want to immediately hit the town center, create villagers and build a house. NEVER START WITH FARMS!! Use your natural resources first, these are: berries, deer, fish and elephants. Though be very careful with elephants as they will kill your villager if he goes for it alone.
Pump villagers like crazy, it is way better to have access to an infinite army than having a huge army and a piss poor economy. Rush villagers and focus on wood + food in the beginning, we're going to want to win by giving out a devastating blow to their economy asap. The reason why you want wood+food is because archers cost wood and food, furthermore the progression of ages in the beginning phases is only linked to food. So to summarize the beginning: pump villagers, get food, get wood, build barracks, progress to next age, build archery, build archers. As soon as you have 3-5 archers rush to your enemy's base. The key is to control your archers in every move you make, if you can control their every move they will shoot at the same time and more importantly: at the same target. If you don't do that they will shoot randomly after the first target is downed. So you just rush in and try to kill as much villagers as possible. All this attacking will take a lot of your time and attention but it is essential you keep on evolving at your base. Make more archers, make more villagers, advance ages, start gathering gold as well, make a blacksmith (this is really huge in later stages) and all that good stuff.
As you (hopefully) have already seen we're Farking up their economy while rocketing through ages ourselfs. If you can't get to their villagers because of a tower or map issues it's wise to destroy other economy essentials such as all the deer you can find in their area and houses. Villagers have a high priority though.
It is very hard to get this all right so you can also focus on more defensive play but I cba writing that down as well so I'll just stick to "offense is the best defense" as key to this strategy.
Haha I love AOE = ] * I don't like the third one though. second was my favorite* You really should try just playing against the computer 3-5 games to get a feel for the game
I got all three, but can only play the first one =( Lost the product key for the 3rd one and I keep getting some gay error everytime I try to load up Aoe 2 -.- Although it's still fun to play... I do some pretty psycho stuff on the scenario editor.

lol i used to play that like 24/7. i can't really give you ant tips tho because i wasn't any good at it i would just use the cheat codes and make a army of lazer shooting race cars (yes i am serious) and buzzuka babys on tricycles
AoE3 is too heavily based on the AoM system, which I found waaaay too restrictive.
As for AoE1, if I remember correctly (been a while since I've played this 1st one) try and quickly get a stable wood supply, start on some gold, and have hunted the two nearby elephants and be picking your berries. Make sure you have about 20 villagers at least, plenty of houses and a barracks (two if you have time). Get to second age as quick as you can, but scout with clubmen while researching it. Unless you're playing Islands or Team Islands, you should be able to find your opponents. Quickly get at least two archery ranges and two stables up, and upgrade those clubmen. You will have probably found your enemy by then. Make scouts and quickly rush them in to disturb your opponent's economy, and archers to cause chaos. That should take your first opponent out in about 15 minutes max, while you're still increasing your economy and are now ready to jump to the 3rd age. From there, you can get siege weapons and horse archers. Just keep as many units as you can rushing any opponents that are free.
If you're lucky, game should last about an hour max.
Lol well all i can say is my team lost xD.O well cant rly blame me cuz the guys we were playing played aoe1 4 like 4 years and 2 years xD.Anyway im off thx 4 the help anyways.
