i have been playing for about 2 and a half years. not to bragg but im damn good. i freaking shred. anyway i dont think i know any sites but i couldnt help but notice your location. anywhere you may be. lol. if thats lodi ca. ill show you how to play. i can play any style. (almost) and i got 4 guitars so yea...lol. one piece of of advice would be dont give up! keep practicing everyday. at first it is hard. but you can do it. start with learning a few chords. practice them until you can switch from c to g for example in a split second. and that is a good solid start.

true. i learned first on an acoustic. then switched to electric. my personal favorite electric would have to be SG's and les pauls. SG #1 les paul #2.

i suggest you start with acoustic or classical. Your fingers will hurt a lot in the beginning, but playing either one provides you with a very strong foundation for playing. Jumping straight to an electric guitar seems easy in the beginning, but in the end you will end up being able to make nothing but noise on it.

I highly recommend classical. Its like acoustic, but the 3 top strings are made of nylon, so its easier to play and doesn't hurt as much as acoustic.

go find some guitar book and start memorizing chords. the best way to memorize chords is by actually playing them in a song. start with something simple too.

I bled the 1st time I tried to play electric. Wasn't so much of a good idea to repeatedly try to learn the stairway to heaven solo when your fingers are used to nylon. :banghead: word of advice: When it hurts... take the pain... but when you feel like crying and your skin is being tarred open... stop. I did. :( I stopped playing for two months after that.

Anywho, try to get yourself a beginner's book, or start messing with your guitar, imitate what you see other people doing... and eventually you'll learn. :D (My father learned by seeing other people play.)

You could also learn by tabs. http://www.911tabs.com is a good one. :P

My advice to you is to learn how to read sheet music. You won't regret it :)
