First off, hello everyone, I'm PuppetOfGaea, and I'm new to the forums but not the SRO community. Ok now that we've gotten that "who the f*ck is this guy" out of the way...

Everytime I join a new community, I meet so many people who love trance/techno, but ask me where to find it. I've decided to try something new. Everyday I will be picking a song and either linking a YouTube video to it, or posting a link to an MP3. I will also add some of my own comentary to each song. Before you guys comment, make sure to listen to the songs all the way through (As a lot of us know, some Trance/Techno starts off slow). The more you guys compliment/criticize my submissions, the more motivated I will be to do this. So without further ado, here's the first beat!

Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: I figured would I start off with my favorite trance song ever, called "Smooth (Airbase Remix) - iio". I wanted to start big, so I went with this AMAZING song. It starts off with a basic beat, with some minor vocals, which when first heard really doesn't suggest that this song is amazing at all. But after waiting a couple of minutes, the buildup finally pays off with the most amazing trance chorus of all time! Enjoy guys, and tell me what you think.

You know, i usually criticize techno/trance to be extremely repetitive and call it shit. But this has actually changed my view on it. Is there more decent things like this out there? Hope so.

Edit: I would like to add that i find remixes of songs to be better than the original, and some remixes have become more popular than the original leaving some people to think that it is the original.

My impressions, as I was listening to the song:

1:25 - probably opens up the perspective for what is to come. A great starter.
2:38 - don't really like the vocals. Slightly harsh, I usually like something more soothing, but this is okay too.
3:50 - things are getting much better now. The background is overwhelming in intensity and energy.
4:33 - absolutelly amazing. I'm literally stunned.
5:35 - calms things down; vocals at around 5:50 seem to fit in better now.
6:32 - very very explosive start-off, preparing the "platform" the song hits at 7:00.
7:00 (onwards) -things looking stable now. Really enjoying the song.
8:00 (onwards) -Things are drawing to an end.

Overall: great song, although this appeared to be exactly the opposite, at the start of it. There are certain elements I didn't particularly like, but overall it was great.

Thank you for posting. :)

EDIT: Here is my favorite trance anthem:
Funabashi pres. Saltwater - The Legacy 2.0
Code: Select all

I listen to this kind of music most of the day, however I prefer hardtrance/happy hardcore/hardstyle myself.

Some trance songs however... !

This is my favourite trance mix of all times.
I also posted this in another thread.

It's a shame really, since most people have this pre-judged perspective on this style of music. There isn't all that many of this music out there and it's a dying community. You just have to know where to find it really.. :)

Thing is that most people thing 'techno = boom boom boom repetitive shit'

This is my favourite trance mix. Hardtrance. It's been uploaded by a guy on youtube called TranceDevotee and he's soon to hit 1k videos.

Code: Select all
Enjoy :)

Yes... i LOVE that mix. It's perfect!!! (except for "I love you", but it's still extraordinary).

That's one of the stereotypes I'm trying to destroy. I was actually thinking of posting 2 a day (I have 200 gigs of Trance/Techno on my computer).

Ok, so without further ado, here's today's song. It's called "L'amour Toujours - Gigi D'Agostino"

Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: I decided to go with this song second because it's a great anthem song, and it's one that has more vocals than most, but not enough to be overdone. The beat is excellent, and while this song has elements of repetition, it's still catchy enough to be great.

As always, keep comments coming, and post songs you like ^.^

Thanks Fudge. I had seen his stuff once before, but forgot about it. I've heard pretty much all of the stuff he's added, and I'm going to try and use songs he hasn't yet. So far, so good. :-)

Didn't really like the second song. The beat is okay, but overall this wasn't that extraordinary to me, as the last one seemed.

Here's another proposal from me:

Warp Brothers - Power
Code: Select all

:)

I liked the first song, that's true trance. It almost put me to sleep. If it weren't for those harsh vocals I would have conked out really fast.

Thanks for the song, I can't wait to have time to listen to the rest!

I don't really like to wait 4 minutes for a song to get going, especially not with stupid vocals through the song.
I liked the chorus or whatever, but I know already I'll be alt+tabbing to skip the damn intro everytime so not worth my time.

Yeah that's really typical :)

I like the intro almost as much as the 'chorus', it builds up to a buzz which is what I like about it :)

Hmm, though I don't like Techno and Trance that much, I enjoyed listening to it.
I listen more to electro and hardstyle, but this is as good as the songs on my MP3!

Again, not all songs are going to appeal to everyone, and I'm trying to create plenty of variety.

Ok guys, today's song will appeal to you Hard Trance fans. It's by a band called Groove Coverage which some of you may be familiar with, but it's one of their only "Hard" songs (most of their stuff is light and pretty vocal). The song is called "The Beat Just Goes - Groove Coverage"

Code: Select all

Puppet's Commentary: This is a song I heard when I purchased Groove Coverage's Album "Covergirl", and I immediately put in on repeat for a couple days (as I do with most songs I really like). It starts off with a typical repetetive beat, but unlike "Smooth" it gets to the chorus pretty quickly. This song isn't too much for variation, but the chorus is just kick ass. Enjoy!

Side Comment: Youtube doesn't do this song justice as it kills the synth emphasis. At some point I'll try to post a link to the mp3 so people can hear it the way it was meant to be heard (with good equalizer + bass).

I'm more into the goa-psy stuff. Plain trance sounds too recycled for me.

We'll get there man, again, this thread is kind of like a sampler, I'll be trying to include all types of trance: standard, vocal, hard, happy hardcore, acid, goa-psy, euro, etc.

Generally I've always disliked trance, I'm a to-the-death metal fan, but lets see if i can't like two genres :) .

However, This:

is one of my biggest turn-offs when it comes to trance.

Please never say that again... I find Sandstorm to be the most overrated song in the WORLD. The fact that 99% of people think of that song when you mention techno makes me contemplate mass genocide.

Hey,

I like what your doing here, this Admin is a big fan of Techno Trance, Dance Electro. So you know im in on this.

I see that you only got a couple up so far, lets give these a couple more progressions and we will see if we can mix this up a bit, give it more structure. So yeah, keep the beats comming.

As far as what crazyskwrls said, don't be so harsh on him. He said he isnt all that indo Techno/Trance so it's fine for him to like Sandstorm. Shit i loved it when it first came out, and then you have the Children of the Sandstorm remix. WoW i love that as well.

To this day i still love Children2000. Robert Miles worked wonders with that, and i think it was a good idea to hook up with Darude to do Children of the Sandstorm.

Well i got to step out now, but ill keep my eye on this for sure.

I liked "The Beat Just Goes". 2:07 is the moment it all starts sounding really really well.

I'm also very much into metal (various types. my favorite bands are: Disturbed, Children of Bodom, In Flames, Arch Enemy, Throwdown, Equilibrium, Eluveitie, Mercenary, Emperor), like piootr is, but I can always enjoy a good trance song. :)
