I have a Vista Home Basic atm, but I want to install Ultimate now, but can I do it and also keep all my data.. games,music etc.?
Im quite a noob at installing new OS

if your disk has 2 partitions (probably C: and D:), you should backup
all your important installation files and documents to your D: partition,
because the default partition your OS will install to is C:.

i bet you have a dvd writer in that pc somewhere.
backup your stuff on a dvd -> then install new OS.

or a external harddisk or whatever.

i just have 2 partitions, it's both the same harddisk hema.

So I tried and installed it.. turned out just fine.. It saved my Program Files folder.. so I didnt loose much files :) Im quite happy :D

u didn't format ? ,anyway gl with ultimate ,it eats like 1GB if my ram without me even opening a thing

There was a option if I want to upgrade it or install freshly, but the upgrade one was grey so I chose fresh install and it still saved my files into a folder called Windows.old.... Anyways Im happy it turned out this way :P
