So the question of the day is about taste buds… For instance, I hate Banana’s. Yes I know that their good for me and I really should eat them. But, I still find their taste absolutely disgusting! Why do I? Is it genetics? Maybe I had a bad incident with Banana’s as a child? Idk what do Ya’ll think?

Ask your parents if they hate it. Personal taste. Maybe you choked on a banana when you were young?

Each to their own. Some people love Bananas, and don't like apples, and vise-versa. I hate Pineapple.

Same reason why some people love the smell of gasoline while others can't stand it. You are probably tasting chemicals in the banana that most other people are unable to taste.

Taste Buds are just like anything about humans, they have a nature and a nurture side. The unique part about taste buds is they have more nurture than anything else. As you grow up, your taste buds are in "learning" mode, and start to learn the chemicals they are exposed to. After a while, the training wheels come off, and they start to become stubborn to chemicals they don't recognize. The main reason your taste buds are similar to your parents is not because of genetics, but because if your parents don't like something, chances are they aren't making it for you, causing the food to be foreign to your taste buds.

You probably threw up after eating a banana and ever since then your taste buds have had an aversion to that particular food. It most likely wasn't the banana that made you vomit but the brain set correlation as causation resulting in life time disdain of the banana. It is also a safety mechanism to keep the Human from being poisoned.
