So I have this old pair of Fire fly rollerblades that I wanna try out, since I've been reading the "Air Gear" manga recently, I've been itching to rollerblade again.

BUt to be honest I have no experience or what so ever in rollerblading, the last time I check I don't even know how to stop correctly. And I can faintly remember I try to go down hill and got a huge faceplant. SO... I don't what to do that again .

So I humbly ask for Rollerbladers in this forum to please leave me some pointers and advice on where to start and what I need to get the show on the road. MAybe a little backgound would be nice too :D

Thx in Advance

1. to get going, more ur right foot forward and outward, then ur left foot forward and outward
2. to stop, either use your custom stopper behind ur wheels and lift ur toes, or drag one of ur feet behind

get comfortable wit those, practice going and stopping until u'r comfortable and it becames muscle memory.

next, taking the stairs

1. before ur blades reach the foot of the stairs, lift one leg up, then slowly at first take the steps one at a time. hopefully there's a rail u can hold onto at first.
2. sometimes, people take the stairs sideways, many people believe it's safer, i think it's pussy, but there's some merit to what they say
3. taking the stairs sideways while going down them is actually a safe bet

next, jumping

1. find a smooth lane of pavement and make sure no pedestrians or cars are around u
2. take off slowly and make sure ur feet are parallel and u'r balanced
3. imagine a line in front of u, and jump as if you were catching butterflies in a meadow
4. actually, practice jumping and landing balanced on grass first
5. don't be afraid, wear kneepads and a helment

some epic sections for you to check out. Cameron Card is my favorite rollerblader. But yeah, used to be pretty into it. Still am just dont have much time for it. But I can answer pretty much any question you need to ask.

As far as gear, you want to get skates called aggressive inline skates.
http://www.aggressivemall.com/

That is my favorite place to shop for skates. You are looking for something like this
http://www.aggressivemall.com/product-p ... te-ba2.htm
http://www.aggressivemall.com/Remz-08-T ... -08two.htm

Most skates will be pretty costly..There are more to choose from, those two are just what I prefer.

i bladed for a few years ^^ i walk sideways up stairs lol. find it easier.

So stop you can do a stylish one called a one footed 'seth slide' (it is here i the uk anyway) were ride forware, put your strongest foot forward at an angle to scrape the floor, increasing the angle upwards untill your boot grips and stops. (its hard to learn but wont take too long ^^)

other ways is to just drag one of your feet behind sideways. As for learning to move, just get on them and play around. (: you'll teach yourself by trying

Sorry misread, stopping by dragging your feet is honestly the worst thing you can do for wheels/soul plates. You wear them out pretty bad if you do it consistantly for a long time. However, you can stop like that if you want it really doesn't do much when you are first starting to rollerblade.

A t-stop is the most effective. Have your front foot going straight place your other foot behind your front foot to make a T and it will just cause drag and you will stop.

If there are any local rollerblading shops near your area I would deffinately look into going in there and trying some on before you buy them. If you know anyone locally who rollerblades and may have some type of blades that are on that website than try them on.

All rollerblades will be uncomfortable at first to be honest. It is hard to get used to liners and some liners have neoprane socks which is akward at first.

How they fit..well most rollerblades fit true to size. Some may be tighter than other. Companies such as USD (Universal Skate Design), Roces, Valo all fit slimmer but they still fit true to size. Rollerblades such as, Remedyz (remz), Deshi, Razor, Rollerblade all fit wider on your feet but still true to size.

You also may find that some rollerblade companies such as Deshi, Razor, or Remz you can fit smaller. I am a typical size 9 shoe, but in remz/deshi/razor I can fit a 7-8.

Most boot molds and companies sell there blades in sizes like; 7-8 or 9-10. So if you get a size 9, it also may fit like a 10 because they are the same boot mold. So that is also something to watch for.

If you have no store to check out blades at I honestly would suggest going the route of Razors for your first skates. They are super sturdy, they deffinately give you a GREAT feel of what it is like to skate aggressive. They are insanely sturdy and they look amazing to boot.

There is also an alternative..This skate many people choose to stay away from because it is pretty weird to skate. But when I skated them I loved them. They are called Xsjado's, they are open toed boots. They sell the skate with a special shoe to wear while you skate them.

http://www.aggressivemall.com/Xsjado-Ch ... fii-pc.htm

Their sizes run differently however. They have a small and a large shell, small shell runs from sizes 5-9 I believe and large shell runs from 9-13. Honestly even if you are a size 10 shoe I would go for a small shell simply because they are less bulky and less clanky. That is if you decide to go this route.

But if you look at any other skates and think you like the way they look over anything I suggest, just let me know. I have skated pretty much every model out there, so I can give you an honest review on what you are buying.

Trice they can be called whatever lol.

Leave yah with another section

i had solomons with a grind plate in the middle, they were ones with the melting thing in the bottom that conforms to your foot for better feel/grip.

not really needed if your begginner, but if you want to grind dem rails and do sum half pipes. i would get some nice skates.

It's like iceskating, but without the 6'3s trying to check you into the boards and tripping you with their sticks. It's iceskating for pussies.

my second way is a t-stop, i ment to drag your back wheels :P and if you can see my old skool 'rollerblade' boots the wheels and soul plate are scraped to hell >.<

The cults are okay, but the aragons (the first link you posted) are a combination of the genesis boot with the cults. So you get the best of both worlds, I prefer the aragons over the cults.

I would honestly get nice skates to last you a bit when you start. You may get made fun of a bit by people who actually do rollerblade but in the end it is worth the money.

I have deshi ch1's and the aragon 2's. My ch1's are pretty beat up, but the aragon 2's I got at the same time and are in perfect condition. Cannot go wrong with razor to be honest.

You have to look into your commitment as well. If you aren't going to stick with it I would not buy an expensive pair.
