This animation just made me remember that I have always wanted to get my hands on some program that could help me create images like these. The only problem is, I dont know what the program is. Does anyone have an idea on what a good program for something like this could be?

Blender is for a free piece of software BUT compare to Maya,Lightwave,3Ds Max, it is nothing, I use 3ds max 8 myself (paids lota for it) but currently they have 3ds max 2009, u could download a free trial for 30-days!! its nice, and if u like u can buy, but blender takes a lot of work to make a model that good

Ya, I want something thats fun too use, nice quality, and capable for someone who has entered these types of programs to learn how to make 3D graphics. Blender seems cool, but it looks like it would take some time to learn the controls and etc. Are the other programs that Gaige mentioned fitting those limits? I know Maya is intense, since I have looked at it before, but the other ones?

3Ds Max is the easiest, IMO. And there are plenty of tuts. for it.

Ya, and if I remember correctly, Maya is insanely expensive. Who knows, I will check out these later :D

Have used a ray-tracing program for a while (POV-Ray). It was nice overall. You have alot of freedom and control over the models but its a bitch to use. You build the entire model in 3D space by lines of code. It takes a while to get used to but then you'll love it, at least thats how it was for me. Too bad i don't have too much time anymore. Some model pics i found on the net, but of course i cant do any as good as these :P Btw, the program is open source.
