Alright guys if you don't really have the time to go through all the videos on the Playlist, go for the wartower.de ones. I love these guys, they always bring HD quality videos with the right content.
P.S: They're the one that brought the 54mins + direct sound Charr gameplay on the first GW2 demo last year.

PvP doesn't look that creative, it's pretty much what most mmos go for. But my god, it looks alot more fun than in other mmos, I was thinking going Ranger as main but I am more and more thinking of rolling a Guardian or a Ele instead.

Sylvari Ele looks so hot dude, flames bursting out of a plant is so sick. I'm going Asura Ranger I think because I have a feeling that the initial Asura missions are going to be sick. Plus they're still revamping the whole pet system (that's why they suggested ppl to avoid playing Ranger)
@Swindler: True, but I think it's because that's suppose to be the Tournament mode so they must keep it as professional as possible. (Not saying that professional =\= creative and fun). Hopefully WvWvW is fun.
Kk just realised I wrote a wall of text... Bored at work.

Yeah, if they aiming for e-sporting the "arena" mode they are going for is probably the best. Tho I was planning on be more of a pve/explorer since what I've heard they will add new locations without telling us, that way giving explorers something new to find all the time and what I've seen the zones are going to be beautiful, when I saw the Sylvari video I almost jizzed my brains out. But I think I will PvP alot after watching the Arena versus that german guild.(Cant remember their name.) Cant wait for this game to launch, every information we get is just to tease us, like waving a bunch of hotdogs to a dog and saying "ha! you cant have them!"

I can't recall which video on my playlist but there's one with a Sylvari Thief in Sparkfly Fen. Somehow she managed to get into some kind of hidden cave complex with like freaking 10 stages to it. She's eventually in a deep underground cave with some undead Norn Pirates protecting some kind of treasure chest. The exploration is going to be freaking crazy, 100% Cartographer is going to be a respected feat.

Love TotalHalibut He gets so excited at the game. Got his PvP Thief gameplay on my new Playlist (EuroExpo '11), it probably won't be as big as the previous ones btw. http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL ... re=mh_lolz

There is no excuse for how bad he played ... this isnt his first time playing the game either, 4th or so demo actually. Not having 6 up more and not trying to dodge for the most part is just awful of him, here is another demo player with a more appropriate "first time": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dr9W_Qi ... 1. Not idea, played GW to some extent and it seemed that they were both very well balanced.
2. AFAIK in GW2 they're staying away from the usual role triangle with tanks, healers, and dps. Every class can heal, but I doubt they can all tank and dps.
3. I heard it was 5, can't be sure in this tho.
4. No factions, you can choose different races and play together, but I think the starting areas are race-exclusive so I'm guessing you'll have to reach a certain level before being able to level up with your friend(s) unless you choose the same race.
5. I think so, I remember someone saying that he would want to be a Norn ranger so that he could shapeshift to a bear, which I'm guessing is a Norn-only skill.

xWaisha wrote: Never played GW:1 but interested in playing GW:2 when it's released. I got some questions so if anyone who played the first game can answer these I'd appreciate it. 1. Do the developers put the most weight into PvP or PvE? (In regards to balancing classes, content etc). 2. Are there set roles for all the classes like in WoW? At first glance it seems that thief, necro, ranger and elemantalist are the DPS classes while engineers and guardians are some kind of utility classes? Warrior being the tank of course. Am I atleast close to correct in these statements or totally wrong? 3. The dungeons aka raids, what player quantity are they for? 10? 4. Say I have a friend that I'm playing with, can we chose different races or do we have to go for the same one? (Is it like WoW with the opposing factions or is it silkroad like?) 5. Do the races give different bonuses / skills or is it just looks that differ? A lot of questions I know, but I'll probably come up with more. 1. They recognized their mistakes in GW1 so they will be separating PvP and PvE skills from the start instead of much further on. They plan on making GW2 an e-sport, hence the flashy animations to make it easier to know what the players are doing. 2. Funny you ask that because the main point of GW2 is their insistence that there will be no set roles, removing the holy trinity. Every profession in some way can play all the roles. This new philosophy can be shown by the fact that every class has a healing mechanic, no need for Monks/Priests/Clerics. Water-attuned Elementalist is a great support. Guardian can share his Virtues with his team or go fully aggresive by keeping them to himself. Ranger can spread out a lot of damage or switch to an Axe setup and be a condition spreader. If you ever go on a GW2 fansite and say "So the Warrior is a tank right?", they'll rip you apart, just saying. 3. Dungeons are 5-man. Their thoughts behind it is that it's easier to organise. If you enjoy "Raids" in WoW, then you'll probably like Events & Elite Events which gets everyone passing by the area to participate. You might of seen videos of 40+ people taking on Shatterer or Tequalt. 4. All races are in peace. They've also mentionned that it's really easy (through Asura Gates, which are portals really) to join your friend in his area straight from the first levels. Note that starting areas (Shaemoor, Wayfarer Foothills, etc.) are always close to their Capital city (Where you find your first Asura Portal). 5. They do have racial skills (although nothing like WoW) that gives them a little flare. Norn have of course the Animal transformations. Humans have Blessing of Kormir, Hounds of Balthazar, etc. They're not game-changing and I'm pretty sure they can't be used in PvP. EDIT: Fack, didn't set Miguel. That was 10 mins of my life.

Miguel, haha.
Those 10 minutes weren't wasted, you answered them all better than I did, I learned some things from your asnwers aswell. And I'm happy to know about the Asura portals.
Fark me, can't wait for this, me and my mates are gonna be all over it

Every class is dps and every class has hp, it's just that it differs slightly depending on class. Warriors and guardians may in general be better at tanking, but that doesn't mean a competent elementalist can't tank either.
You could be a warrior specializing in ranged attacks with a gun if you wanted to, or maybe a "melee" elementalist (you have short ranged skills with daggers etc.). One great example is that a guardian can either specialize in melee, magic, or both, if you so choose.
I feel the game gives you the freedom to do what you want. Of course generally some classes are better at certain things, but that doesn't mean you can't do it as any another class.

Feel the same way. Both Earth Elementalist and S/S Warriors have potential "tank" abilities (gosh I hate that word), but both class will go about it differently. At the end, I think that it might be more "awkward" to master certain roles for certain professions.
Then again, you could roll a Guardian or Elementalist and be awesome at everything. (Seriously, just from gameplay I can already predict patch dedicated to nerfing them). ANet themsleves admitted too that the Ranger profession is the weakest right now, until they tweak the pet system.

I can honestly say I wouldn't mind at all if the pet system was removed.
I want to be all forest-y~ and have cool environmental skills and wear a nice bow and call on eagles, but I don't really like having to control a pet, it's an unneccessary hassle.

I feel the same, that's why I won't be playing Ranger on this game even though Ranger and Assassin were my main. Maybe the revamped pet system will make them more automated and smart. Regardless, they do shit damage and die in two shots. Right now, I'm thinking Asura Elementalist or Norn/Charr Thief.

There are no tanks in gw2, classes have abilities that allow them to "tank" for brief periods of time but no one class can stand in front of a boss for a extended period of time.
The way agro works is that stuff will attack the closest character near them. So basically people take turns going in, blowing defensive cooldowns, and swapping out.
My main classes are going to be ele, necro, guardian. Thinking I'll level the necro first as they seem to own in pvp o.O.

I'm thinking of rolling a necromancer first, though guardians and engineers also look interesting to me.
I wonder what the final class will be. Been rumors that it's the mesmer, and if so I might try that first. won't make any final decisions until the final class is revealed but I'm favoring the necromancer the most atm.

It's so obvious it's the Mesmer. Queen Jennah was clearly one in Edge of Destiny (decent read btw).

Well from what I hear of a mesmer, I'm definitely trying that out second if not first.

What have you heard about the mesmer =o ?
After that necro gameplay video I find myself wanting the game rather badly. Everything was what I expected it and then some, and then some more, and it all comes together just nicely.

Well I haven't heard much, but a mesmer is all about illusions and mind control etc., which I think is pretty interesting. I don't think we can do mind control on players if we can do mind control at all, but having illusions and stuff seems something worth looking at, for me at least.
