Wow...

1... every Monday for quite awhile they will be banning botters...

2... there was about 8 new servers opened... but in per portion, they are still doing much better... they didn't even get 1,000 bots from Troy banned in the 2 months they were banning... we already almost banned 500 in one day...

3... nobody cares if your friend bots...

4... if they supported the gold sellers, than how come those are the only ones getting banned...?

5... if your friend has better things to do wildmanfrost, than why the hell does he spend money buying bots?

6... if you buy gold you don't bot... I bought gold after I got hacked and lost all my stuff... so does that make me a botter? Even though botters are the ones making the gold for the companies, it doesn't always mean you support the botters.

But whatever... I am glad they are starting the ban... and you guys have fun ranting on about non-sense.

4: Joymax doesn't own the bot company. If they did, they would sell the program it in the item mall. Majority of the bots are Gold bots as stated. Gold bots don't buy silk. They make ZERO dollars off of a gold bot.
--- false. Joymax dont ban bots gold farmer = Joymax support the gold sellers.
--- 1] click my sig
--- 2] Even though most Joymax bot bans are pathetic they have been banned gold bots, despite their who their business partners are.

6: The design isn't to encourage botting. GRINDING is a staple in Korean MMOS. The time it takes you to level keeps you playing = spend more money on cash items/longer subscription = more money for the company in the long run. If the game was like an Xbox game, finishing in 10 hours, there would be no more revenue after you've completed the game.
--- iSRO is the ONLY "FREE" GAME crowed 24h/24h 7days/7days (is crowed because the 80-85% of the chars in game are BOTS GOLD FARMERS). You pay for play and dont have drops and decent events. iSRO is BORING.
--- 1]That is completely irrelavant to pred's statement.
--- 2]if the game is not to your liking: A]Quit, B]Do something about it.

7: This is incorrect. Players bot. Only the PLAYER can stop botting. You don't have a right to demand anything from the company.
--- NO. Joymax MUST BAN the illegals players. The game have rules and Joymax MUST check the players.
--- 1]Joymax isn't obligated to do anything, or did you not read the ToS? Joymax is scum.

1 - Joymax support gold sellers because PLAYERS BUY GOLD. PLAYERS WHO BUY GOLD PLAY THE GAME LONGER + BUY SILK.

A while back an old employee of JoyMax made this thread talking about bots and how his job sucks and everything. He said one thing that you should all know is the truth. If all bots are banned that means SRO shuts down. Bots are what run this game. And since it seems most of the legits either really don't wanna buy silk or do not have money to use on it, it shouldn't come to a surprise to any of you knowing this. Saying you want all bots banned is the equivalent to saying I want SRO to shut down. Think it over for 5 minutes and you will realize that it is the painful truth. Don't waste your time talking about it especially when you get into arguments about it. A lot of you need to grow up and realize that JoyMax does everything the way they do strictly for profit. As long as the action they take is legally sound, or far to hard to notice, they will do it in the name of profit, whether it benefits the legit community or not. And that is why bots aren't banned, or at least the player bots that is. If they wanted to keep the game legit it would probably be something equivalent to kSRO.

I'm glad to see my post prompted a lot of thought.

But I find interesting how no one seems to have responded to buying gold or PLVL from other players.

How many times have I been chatting in game, and had people complain about bots and buy gold? or tell me that they were going to pay someone for PLVL.

Contrary to what most people here seem to think, grinding does not = fun!
If your idea of killing 300k mobs to level is fun, then you are lost. I hate it, that is why it has taken me for ever to get to lvl 65.

So do you guys pay to be PLVLed?

Take that gold bots!
Oh, and a huge percent of the Plvl chars are gold buyers.
My friend does it, they openly chat about where they buy in the party ...

6: The design isn't to encourage botting. GRINDING is a staple in Korean MMOS. With all that said and done. I've reviewed the bot ban lists and they are a huge joke. You guy's never cease to amaze me with all the complaints about bots, server traffic etc etc. 10000 bot's banned, 10000 new accounts are signed up the very next day. It is a NEVER ending cycle that keeps your Silkroad economy flowing and CCU (concurrent users) high for company statistics. All of you are nothing more than a mear statastic. Game service is a business. If they can't profit off the business, there is no game. If you want Silkroad to survive another year or two continue to bot. They won't ban any PAYING player. The largest micro-transaction payment service in the world is Paypal (owned by eBay). If there is a massive chargeback (due to a paying silk customer ban) which tips the scale of projected losses Paypal will close Joymax's account as a paypal merchant. When that happens the company can no longer sustain its self unless you all start using ClicknBuy. It will never end. Eventually the game will die. Its nothing what it used to be 2 years ago because Koreans are negligent in consumer service.

On your response to his point seven I would like to respectfully disagree. This stuff is and was outlined in joymax's own TOS. Granted joymax have Chosen not to enforce anything. But one could argue that since they took payments from us the customers that we have a right to expect that they should take reasonable action to address such things. Other companys have so why not joymax.

On your last response that gives me an idea. Talking about ebay and botter chargebacks. That is honestly something to this point that botters have had to their advantage. But what if those of us that played legitimatly used this to empower ourselves against the botting hordes and the company that tolerates and enables them. The only way to save iSRO is to destroy iSRO as we know it. They count on us the legitimate players to play nice and tithe to them monthly. That and get uppity every so often when we notice that joymax does nothing. I honestly doubt many botters would know how to charge back if they had to. So to an extent I wonder about the validity of the threat. But this may be something you could provide information on. Lets say that there were enough of us disgruntled customers out there that we would want to take action to revoke joymax's paypal merchant status. There may be many avenues by which this could be done. The most basic of which would be a legal and safe chargeback on bought silk. So how much silk by how many people might it take to revoke their merchant status? Any idea?

A mass legit chargeback I think sounds like the perfect form of protest. Maybe even just the threat of it would be enough to begin change. But they have gone so long disregarding us. I think hitting them where it hurts is just the action required. Paypal is the main avenue they take payments through. It is well known simple to use and most people already use it. If we knock out that pillar of support they are damn well going to feel it and take notice. What say you fellow public? Should we? Are you? Are they ready for some mayhem?

Terms of Services are written to protect the company. Just like how laws are in our society.

- 1: It is against the law to have illegal drugs in your possession.

Real world: You can buy weed in just about any corner. Do you see Cops at ever corner making sure there isn't any weed being sold?

Fact - People buy weed. People grow weed. People Sell weed.

If you are caught, you goto jail. How many people do YOU think have not gone to jail for being in possession of weed? People work for money. People use money to buy weed. People sell weed to make money. People who make money spend money back into the economy.

Same thing with Joymax. Bots bot for gold. Players buy gold. Players who buy gold buy weapons. Players who buy weapons buy silk. People who buy silk support Joymax. People who support Joymax have a game to play. With the game service in tact, bots remain.

It is almost impossible to eliminate every last gold bot. WHY? because PEOPLE will buy it if they need it.

World of Warcraft is NO different. I play WOW (what the heck!) And ive seen gold spammers, bots etc etc. They are more discrete because of the humungous world and no one talks to each other anyways. The only thing they lose is their CDkeys if caught. When you are banned from Silkroad online, your character is blocked but you are FREE to make another account.

It is not efficient to ban 20,000 botters on March 16th. Because on March 17th, 20,000 signups will occur. It is a never ending cycle. Blame yourselves and take responsibility.

Joymax is not the police. They could care less because they are Koreans. If you know any Korean KOREANS (I mean people living in Korea) you'll know what i'm talking about.

I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to give you facts.

That comes with attitude. Most of the SRO community piss me off so I will come off as mean and vulgar. If you actually knew me, it's kinda just humor.

Basically any reply you will make about Joymax and Bots is irrelevant to mine. I've seen it first hand.

truth....
Joymax could develop some very high security bot blocker that blocks all bots from entering, but then within a week someone will break through. The reason someone would is for the money they can make from it. Just look at cod4, it has punkbuster. It has new hacks out every time its updated because of the paying hack users.
Where theres money to be made, there will be people banking on it.

Eh the only reason weed is bad is because of racism, corporate greed/anti-competition schemes, and the fact that big pharma can't patent it. So it makes a bad allegory to the botting situation. Still whether the police can arrest "everyone" who breaks the law is not the point. The point is that they can and do put a dent in such activity and keep it in some areas out of the public eye. If some ass wants to bot or buy gold they know where to get the shit or know someone that does. As you put it they can be "discrete" about it. The fact that joymax does "nothing" at all about it and only does such pathetic bans to "satisfy" the players and not to "honor" their own rules. Eh it is just disgusting. If some guy wants to bot and manually goes out of town and rides to some discrete area to bot he is still a loser but it effects me less. And that is something.

I was not specific myself but I never said eradicate them. It was implied to do something more than ineffectual once a year bans. I am with you on it that they will never get rid of them all. But don't you think it is actually embarrasing how few they do get rid of? There are even thousands of automated ways they could detect and ban that really would not be that hard. If they actually logged in to the servers for a few hours a day it would be a simple task to ban 400+ a day under current conditions. And it would never stop them all sure. But it might make a decent dent.

I have played several other F2P MMO. Some which had problems similar to joymax in the past. But they all managed to largely fix those problems. So how is it that they can have the same setup for a game yet keep the bot population so much lower? It could be because someone actually tries.

Pred wrote:

LOL thing is it is not the users responsibility as a whole nor should it be. The users as a whole have no power. The only one who has any power will take no responsibility. Joymax never takes responsibility. One of their webcoders makes a collosal boneheaded move and decides to expose user ID in plain text in a half assed forum software kludge. Joymax denies it and denies it for months. In the end 500K or more user acct names were exposed. But it was not joymax's fault. They quietly put in place a kludge to circumvent the other kludge rather than fix the underlying problem. Life goes on world keep on spinning. Some time later and the retard webcoder has not been fired and is for some reason left to work on the new portal site. Guess what another collosal boneheaded flaw that any decent college educated programmer hell even most non college educated programmers would have known better than to write is opened to the public. Oh and it just so happens that all they need is the user acct names to use the flaw to hijack whole accounts and circumvent all security everywhere. Well wait what is this here?! It is a list of 500K user names. Nah there could have been no relation. It was all the users fault again. Sharing acct info and running programs they should not have. Joymax is again in no way responsible. Quietly the best known of the holes gets patched. Quietly several other holes continue to be exploited to this day to take advantage of users who never did anything wrong. Oh and what is this? Rev6 just recently went public with yet another joymax screwup that they refuse to acknowledge till it gets out to the public at large. It to will quietly be kludged or patched joymax will deny responsibility and anyone that was damaged by joymax's neglegence/incompetence will be told that it is in fact their incompetence and not joymax's

Pred wrote:

Thing is joymax is as close to police as we will ever get and they will not take responsibility even if we the users were to try. And while I do know koreans here and in korea and know what you are talking about to an extent. It is hardly that unique to korea. Maybe it has different social aspects there but that still does not excuse it in a global market. The wonderful thing about publishers is that they are given a limited license to publish. It is up to them to make as much money as they can off the license in the time they are alloted. Most do a superb job. Joymax on the other hand is not only the publisher but the developer as well. They have an unlimited license to publish. And as such no incentive to maximize the value of their license period. We know for a fact that SRO servers can be run well and that bots can be kept in check. cSRO is not a bad example of this. So it can be done and it is up to the publisher ultimatly. Joymax just refuses to do anything. Most of us as users can take all the responsibility we want and never be able to make a difference. It is like pissing into the ocean.

It's very simple ping_lo. Quit SRO and move on. Like how you've done. I have as well. Moved on to better company, better game and better people.

Truth: Joymax isnt willing to do a massive bot ban on actual players. They have become dependent on the revenue those abusers roll into the game. Any financial loss in the company will start cutting back production/jobs/etc etc. Silkroad will only go SLOWER with service and updates.

Truth: Joymax is so horrible the DIRECTOR quit. He's off to another game company as well. After I was fired from Joymax (wrongful discharge due to a moronic Korean boss) 3 other employees have quit AFTER me. USA office is basically dead.

LOL, Ping_Lo and pred, you guys are so blunt and truthful. You never sugercoat anything.

OT: Now that you think about it, a lot of SRO GMs have quit, either because of A]personal life, B]Joymax, or C]The Community. Most of the time its B and C.

4. Have you ever heard of subsidiary? Coke, Pepsi, GM all own subsidiaries that do business under DIFFERENT names. Those company's profit go to the parent company. Cold it be that Joymax owns the bot company?
5. After botting for 10 months, buying all that silk, if my friend was banned, not only would he charge back, but he would quit the game. He bots not because he is addicted, as some fools who are suggest, but rather because he wants to play and has better things to do with his life.
6. Joymax has designed game play to encourage botting. Like a 1* lvl 41 being an open target to high levels is fair? Once he hits lvl 41, his fun of trading stops until he get up to 76+.
7. If we want to stop player botting, then we need to demand a fairer game play. One where the star level of the trade determines the level difference of engagement. God knows that the thieves have to get bored following my lvl 39 around. I do, I would love to be able to battle it out with thieves my level.

4: Joymax doesn't own the bot company. If they did, they would sell the program it in the item mall. Majority of the bots are Gold bots as stated. Gold bots don't buy silk. They make ZERO dollars off of a gold bot.

5: Then he should have just quit SRO. The point of a game is to play it.

7: This is incorrect. Players bot. Only the PLAYER can stop botting. You don't have a right to demand anything from the company.

Joymax has terms of service. If they did offer the bot at the silk mall, then it would be a violation of their own terms. If they offered it through a subsidiary, then they could have plausible denial ability.

You think they don't make money from gold bots? If not, then why would they continue to allow them, when they could populate the servers with players who would more than likely purchase silk? Joymax is a business, not a charity. They are about making money, as all companies are. The continued 'tolerance' of gold bots, if they make no money from them, is a foolish and costly decision.

90% of the bots are gold bots...

There is about 4,000+ gold bots on every server...

4000x30 = 120,000+ gold bots on Silkroad...

Now that number is drastically high...

There is no where near 120,000 PLAYER BOTS...

If they get rid of ALL OF THE GOLD BOTS Silkroad would be better...

The only thing I have to say about bots... is thats what makes us have all of the SOS/SOM/SUNS... they make the economy better for us... :P

only 3500 spaces on server and 2000 spaces on newest servers and 2500 spaces on the new servers. You calculation are terribly wrong.

but you do make a point. 90% of characters are goldbots. which is terribly sad.

I loved how after emergency inspection, I logged on to Rome immediately. It was SO quiet, no lag in Hotan, nothing...i could run around freely. However, I saw only a few players on. In hotan I saw SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many gold bots, of course, not the usual numbers, but they were obviously the first ones on. I globalled about it and got some replies about how they think the gold bots work for JM hahaha

It's simple..

You'll never get rid of the bots.

They'll get banned but more will be back the next day.

I find it much easier to get in Troy at any time of the day already... although it still takes 2-3x each time... usually it was an hour of trying... >.<

23,000 bots... and that in 3 days of starting the bot ban...

They will reach 30,000+ easy this Friday, if they are in-fact doing a new bot ban every other day.

The only reason that joymax can't fix this problem is simply because most of their entire income comes from BOTS.
All bots gone = no more income.

However, i do believe jm WANTS to fix this, but simply cant.
And therefore there are all these lies about war with the bots..
Its so easy to just make a program or just do it ingame as a GM. Just click BAN click BAN.

It IS fixable tho. This game CAN be saved.

Use banners, use gifts, hire more GMS and many many mroe stuff that can be done to repopulate this game once all the botters are gone. You gotta give something back to them or their gone.
