Pfft, screw that.
As long as he gets his shit done it's ok. Remember, all work no play makes you a dull boy ;-).
But also remember all play no work makes you an unemployed boy!

I use to play an FPS game with one of my e-friends while he was at work, nothing wrong with it.

Playing games while at work, using company resources, is stealing. You're stealing company bandwidth. You are also very likely going against the company's acceptable use policy.

No matter what way you look at it, playing games like that at work is unethical.

Just because you used to steal cash from a bank with your bank teller friend, doesn't mean there's nothing wrong with it. Doesn't matter if the bank has tons of money.

I live in australia lol... I got a download limit on my home internet... 20gig a month but thats costing a fair bit to be allowed that much (like $100 a month). Most families i know of have between 500mb - 2gig.

So jealous of all you un-capped people in other countries.

What...kind....of...plan....do....you...have?!?!

Ive got 60gig of cable internets, for $79 a month. Optus are hands down the best company in Australia when it comes to internet, cept it still sucks balls compared to other countries :P

Yep, understand it completely. But, the company is a family own business and its far far away from town. And it involves a lot of "doing nothing". Since our company do seasonal work, of pick time, we just work a few hours a day. Plus i'm just there to look after machinery, well like a security guard, and boy you know security job is real boring one lol. Plus, i'm not trying to hide, everyone know I play RPG, so technically not stealing lol. But YES I do see where you coming from.

Thank you for your concern :D

So, I can play it with 100mb cap after all. You will see me do a lot of stalling, and waiting for unique :D

i played sro from work, i think SG did also, it depends on the type of job you have. i run the IT dep where i work and we don put restriction on internet usage to the ppl that work there. it's true, if you have ppl sitting in front of a PC 8 hours a day looking at some nasty software doing numbers of whatever, it will make them into zombies and proly not very productive.

unless you work in a burger king then i understand your point of view.

You should be fine, I played my first year of SRO on dialup, it uses very little bandwidth.

You got about another year before your plan will change =)

Fck burger king. I worked there once.

But yes, it is unethical to play the game at work. Do it with a government job and you will lose the job.

swear to god my isp is run by monkeys.... redneck monkeys... :x :banghead:
They need to do some requirement listing for jobs with an internet service, cause I had to call a tech guy out to my house 3 dam time to fix my internet and they still didn't know what was wrong so they just changed everything coming off the telephone pole as well as rewired it through my house and a brand new modem and filter outside. Pretty lame cause we got charged for 10% of it -.-
Then I had to tell the guy how to set up the modem proper and get it working :banghead:

I used to work at Pizza Hut many moons ago. :-P

Yes, if you work a government job, and play games on the job, you will very likely be fired quite quickly. It is still unethical to play games at work, even if your employer says it's ok. You might not lose your job, or go to jail for it, but it's still "wrong". Similarly, it's "wrong" to bot, but you won't go to jail or lose your job over it. (although maybe you should...) :-P

I can understand the boring security job. I had a job like that before. I spent 12 hours a day staring at an intrusion detection system (IDS) and if nothing "bad" happened on the network (which nothing ever ever happened) then there was nothing to do. From an employer standpoint, my time would be 'better' spent online researching the latest and greatest computer security issues, hacking exploits, etc to be better informed on how to detect intrusions, rather than grinding a character in SRO.
