Well, judging by the videos I saw it's not a great deal. However, if you have the money to pay for subscriptions you can always give it a try I guess.

Yes try it, WoW kicks butt. This thread does belong in the "Other Games" section though

You're asking a silkroad forum about playing WoW. Most will say no.

I might go back playing SRO again if I didn't like it or switch to rpg console games. Sorry for the wrong section.

I often review games by watching video clips and not actually playing them too. Yes, WoW is worth it. There is always PvP going on, always quests to do, always dungeon parties forming, etc. No waiting around for parties or hoping someone will actually do a trade today.

I asked this because of the time it would take me to DL the game and I just started. Any SRO players played/playing WoW too?

i tried it, meh i did like the larger world, but idk something just felt wrong about it to me, sro is more for me i think, though real ctf would be nice in sro, not this bastardized version, which don't get me wrong is kinda fun and gets my pvp need taken care of.

You will see. I was playing Silkroad about a year and a half before and i played it for like 2 months. Then i switch to wow (official) and played it for almost 2 years (leveled 3 chars to 70 ) yeah i was no life, but anyway i switch back to silkroad. So point is to try and u will see witch game suits u better. Both game rocks anyway

WoW is the most fun when you actually know people who play it. ONe of my RL friends bugged me for over a year to try it out, and I finally cracked. Didn't like it initially, took a break... and then came back again later and I love it. It can take some getting use to, but it is bloody brilliant once you get into it.
Foudre, if you ever try it again let me know and I'll chill with you in-game or whatever. ^^

idk.. do the wow graphics look kinda childish or is it me? its like ur playing in a cartoon or w/e. its nice, but sro's pvp/gaming system is far better. the problem with sro is the PEOPLE (noobs, bots, scammers.. etc) but not the game imho

It's 100% a metter of taste if you ask me. Like asking "is chicken deliciour of i should eat only pork" ... maybe you'll like it, maybe you won't, and most of the people like it because of their own taste, not becayse WOW or SRO is 1000 timers better because someone just says so Hope you got my really strange explained idea...

i got more addicted to wow, than i got addicted to sro. But the monthly fees kills you, so thats why im playing sro. there was a point in time where it was summer vacation and I ignored all my real life friends to play wow. lol. its a really good game. give it a try. ahmedsabry wrote: idk.. do the wow graphics look kinda childish or is it me? its like ur playing in a cartoon or w/e. its nice, but sro's pvp/gaming system is far better. the problem with sro is the PEOPLE (noobs, bots, scammers.. etc) but not the game imho i disagree. wow has much much more quest to keep you busy, and they aren't all grinding quest. the pvp system is wonderful, you can pvp people from other servers, capture the flag, territory control, duels, destroy towers, go on epic quest, and dungeon raids, town raids. WoW even has a history, if you do a lot of the quest, a lot of the things connect back to the warcraft series. the graphics for wow are low because it allows more people to play it, with crappy computers, so it doesnt lag as much. and if you get bored doing quest, you can ride a train, explode fireworks, cook food, fly around and explore, or do a hoggar raid. there are a lot of secret things hiding in the world of warcraft, try to find some.

There's A LOT more stuff for the game to render, because the entire game terraforms to draw where you are, and there's a lot more freedom in where you can go. How can you say click and 123 is far better then having to be completely active, jump, swivel, shoot, time your attacks? You say "is it just me" meaning you haven't actually PLAYED. If you judge WoW on screenshots, you're can't really give an accurate opinion on the game. Unlike most MMOs where the characters stand out so much against the backdrops, it all blends in VERY nicely.

I rather the 40 vs 40 AV BGs, ability to buy armor and items according to the honor you've earned, and much more competitive and stable arena system. /thread-hijack I just hit 70 less then a week ago too, I should of made a thread. I was cheering too much to take a screenshot when I hit 70, but I have one I took the day after. On the subject or wow and sro. I agree WoW is much slower, considering you can't leave a bot on 20 hours of the day to play for you. It normally takes a person ~200-250 hours to get to 70 on their first character. I wouldn't be surprised if 79-80 on SRO takes that alone. Not to mention, I lvled doing quests and instances, rather than grinding the same mobs for 600+ hours of /played time. It also makes me laugh when players pick on the graphics. WoW is very scalable, on a high end computer it looks amazing. Not to mention that the terrain is terraformed and has tons of objects that take up a lot of GFX resources - compare that to the endless open plains of SRO with a random hill and tree in the middle of no where. See pictures I googled below, maybe in a bit i'll get in game and take a picture of myself flying on a gryphon somewhere, hundreds of feet off the ground looking down on the massive world, that takes like 20 minutes to fly from north to south on 1 of 2 continents located in the 1 of 2 realms. Edit: here's some pictures I took flying over a zone in norther kalimdor - ill grab some more of other places in a second. Here are pictures flying over a zone in the expansion, note I run on 1680x1050, and I don't have grass or mobs to draw from extreme distances, yet it's still much more complex than SRO. Here are pictures of the capital city in the expansion, again, I don't have people or mobs to render from this altitude. Here's one of my interface. I used to have an extremely modded interface, but it's too difficult to use when you play on more than one PC, and public PCs. I'm a paladin, so I don't have that many skills on my interface, but my other characters have more. GG SRO fanboys that have never played WoW or have barely touched it, yet argue that SRO is better. WoW has 10,000,000 subscribers for a reason, without counting those that used to play or play on private servers.

But it's from that point on the fun REALLY begins. (lots of instances, interesting zones, more BGs)

It's a great game but very time consuming and addictive. The lvling is great, fast and fun, nice area's to explore, the quest's are kinda boring tho, but the rewards are awesome. Pvp is also pretty good. But for me what i like most is the battlegrounds (alterac valley ftw!) Even tho i barely play it anymore, it's a really nice game when ur new and really get in to it. Oh and no turks.

Very much technique based in PvP, though good gear does help a lot too. (in lower brackets anyway, not as huge in upper brackets unless they're stacking PvP gear)
