I am not the only person who has noticed. What has happened? Why is it that on nearly every topic there is this group of ppl posting such negative comments? Ill even point some fingers (tho they are NOT all of the problem)... Chaud, Vulperin, Cuch, Stallowned. You guys are changing the happy atmosphere of SRF, unintentionally, Im sure. It used to be that no matter how small the question someone would happily answer it. No matter how small the victory, all were congratulatory. We used to joke that SRF was a noob forum as most of the topics were "how does this work" topics, but frankly, I liked it that way. Even the leader of Avalon could come here and post without the threads turning into flame wars (which is why I came here in the first place, it was nicer). Now, Fly doesnt post here much anymore. Ppl are slowly backing off.
Please, dont let SRF become Tavern. Go THERE for your flaming needs. They dont mind.
My take on it:
Just because a question seems obvious to YOU doesnt mean it is for everyone.
It's OK to be funny.
There are enough jerks in the game, stop flaming NICE ppl.
Sometimes, ppl need a "good job". Killing TG may not seem very major when you are level 70, but it WAS before you killed her.
I dont think anyone wants us all to be Pollyana, but instead of flaming that guy that killed TG, just start a topic called "Why do high levels kill TG".
Calling someone names isnt very witty. If you have a valid point to make that is one thing, but resorting to "you noob!" doesnt make you look very smart and brings a constructive argument to a screeching halt.
Threads like the one against Huy have a purpose. Ppl need to air out their frustrations and concerns, but try to keep that stuff on the thread of origin. Pouring your venom out on the rest of the forum is just babyish.
Everyone gets angry and lets that get outta hand. But know when to quit.

Wow. I'm glad someone had the guts (obviously not me) to stand up and say what has to be said. I can't quite put a finger on it, but this post makes me totally relook at the way things are on this forum.
I can honestly say I agree with this topic whole heartedly(sp?). Reitterating (again, sp? lol) what nightbloom said, I believe a lot of people go way out there to flame and attack other users for no apparent reason.
This is just my opinion, but in that HuyFong topic, there were a lot of people who used it to openly to flame him and/or others. Most of the posts there were plain old rude or totally off-base. I didn't post on the topic because I had nothing to do with it, unlike some people who thought they could flame someone and not have to deal with any retributions. Anyway, I wasn't trying to bring up a dead thread, just express my opinion.
In closing, just make suer you think before you post. And thanks again to nightbloom for being open enough to speak her mind.

It used to be that draquish would post his little use search botton pic, someone would post the original thread, ppl would make jokes and then a mod would delete the thread when they noticed.
You dont HAVE to comment, the forum WILL survive without your input. Let the mods moderate and go spend your time on topics that you find constructive.

I agree with nightbloom.
The forum spirit hath turned sour lately. Dunno because a lot of people are bored/fed up with JoyMax and take their bordom/frustration here or not.
Those of you who fit these descriptions, and should myself applied then I appology, should stop posting immature, flaming comments.
This is HOME!

I agree partially but not with the unique thing. If you put in enough hours into the game to get to lvl 70 or any high lvl then you had plenty of time to kill Tiger Girl long before then if you really wanted to. No excuses.
But yea, I agree with some parts of the other statements.

My point of view on the thing is that if you put that much time into the game, screw what the low levels say. You earned more than they have!!! But that doesn't mean I'll stoop to as low as killing TG at lvl 60+.

Exactly,
A kill is a kill, i'll hard grind to 70 THEN i'll have fun ie. go hunt TG.
Anyways @NB, yeah I even resorted into checking tavern for a while =/
Till I read the first 2 topics, which were at teh time bash the bot poopr thread and how to prevent an easy bruteforce,
You got loads fo truth in your post and well I think the same if your not constructive get lost

Thankyou nightbloom, you have put into words what I have been trying to do for a long time now.
On the using the search button : have YOU ever actually tried using it? nine times out of ten you'll get several hundred or thousand results meaning that you have to trawl through threads until you get exactly what you want, this leads to people finding old threads and not realising that they are old before they post in it.
So in actual fact by telling newbies to use the search button you are encouraging another frowned upon activity
Just take the extra 20 seconds to be the nice guy and give the newbies a hand.

I was refering to this thread here: http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=16059 The person killing TG was level 45, not 70. The first 5 comments are rude.
Or this one: http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12121 Needs no explaination.
The overall tone is becoming oppressive.

I dont think all these negative ppl have any idea what they are doing to the forum and I am not flaming them for it. I am asking for temperance and a little patience. SRF is a good place, with good ppl. Making MORE negative comments isnt going to make it better. Leaving isnt going to make it better. Just take a moment and think about what you say.

The trees are tired but the wind keeps blowing! I'm gonna stfu. HuyFong, drop it too ok? No need to defend/explain yourself at every oppotunity you have. Everybody, including you and I, said everything they ever wanted to say on those 2 threads already. Don't let that stuff festers into more threads/posts please.

Well, the first was not bad. Just stating their opinion. Not like it was a complete flame or anything. They just feel like he did not accomplish anything based on his lvl compared to Tiger Girl's. Nothing wrong with that eh? I mean, but its not really that simple. You have the dwell on the purpose of a unique, character's lvl, server age, average character lvl on the server, number of people waiting, lvls of those waiting, number of hours waited, and things of that nature before you can draw a good conclusion on whether to say something positive or negative.
I agree about the 2nd.

My bad, I'm not doing it in purpose and thats the hoenst truth. I said it because nightbloom know who I am talking about. The point I'm trying to make is that people are turning friends into doubting eachother and thats definitely not a healthy environment. Please don't take everything I say that way. It's an hoenst example what what is happening because of the negativity.

If you cant see how "and yet...no one cares. Post ss when you are less than 20 and get it." is a negative comment than Im really sorry. LOL I didnt say flaming was the issue. You are right, that is not an outright flame. That is just a pissy thing to say. And alone, no one would notice. But you put a handfull of them on EVERY NOOB THREAD that gets started it creates an atmosphere that ppl are feeling. Imagine being a low level and having someone shoot you down the FIRST response in your "look what I can do!" or "How do I...?" topic.
I liked the noobish, silly atmosphere that used to be. Even when ten ppl asked the same question, someone was always patient enough to help them out.

True nightbloom, I realized it a couple days ago too.
In my experience, it happens everytime a small community is together for more than a few months on a forum.
They accept new people with more and more difficulty, and seem to be less friendly.
I don't think that closing every thread is the key. People just need to relax

I know Huy didnt like it much, but a good rousing flame topic isnt what I am talking about. Those DO serve a purpose. While it does tend polarize the forum into us and them, it can get things out and open and discussed. It does help us get to know eachother. They arent the kind of thing I am really talking about here. I am talking about the will to help eachother seems to have fallen away. Despite the fact that Stallowned spoke against my good friend Huy, I am not going to go to his thread on a completely different topic and continue to flame him. (Im not saying Stallowned did this, I am making an example) And I really hate that ppl cant seem to ask a noob question without getting 1 helpful comment for every ten mean ones. I mean I dont usually post that kinda "good joob, way to go" crap, but I have lately just to counteract the feeling of "go way noob, you arent welcome here" vibe.

idk if someone already said it because quite frankly im too lazy to read every essay people have written in this thread, but i think the forum atmosphere reflects the game atmosphere. people have 1. started taking the game WAY too seriously, and 2. started being assholes. i think people have been changed in game by other people, and have brought the negative air here.
idk. just my two cents. (sense?)

Even when ten ppl asked the same question, someone was always patient enough to help them out. Well, thats your perspective and you can't possibly expect everyone to see things through the same light. And if people did care why didn't he get more congratulations from many more people? There are many other good threads that reach 4 or 5 pages. Why not this one? Obviously many others that browse the forums thought the same or did not feel like giving good cheer.
You can't post a thread and expect all positive or everyone to agree on something. And besides, this forum has grown alot since along time ago so there are many more personalities now. And like calling someone a n00b does not create a atmosphere itself?
And its best to let negativity out in moderations rather than just covering it up and let it build up. That can lead to far worse things than a simple argument as we have seen.

Cry much?
I don't think everyone that comes here is 12, and is a big carebear. My posts convey my opnion. The world isn't all rainbows, sunshine, and pink.
I'll post how I'd like, however I feel, until someone tells me to stop.
Anyone that plays on Babel, and isnt a vn, ccfer, botter, and knows CW. Isn't Huy a very close resemblance? Armor, sos spear, the attitude...
Maybe the source of the problem is people not using the search button? Maybe people that could read the main page of sro.net before asking something silly?
Btw, some of your sigs are too long.

People don't HAVE to post either, especially when the question is easily answered through search or going to the SRO homepage.
There is a difference between asking a question to clarify something you don't understand after searching through and reading and asking a simple question that's been answered a million times.
The difference is one person is a newbie and the other is a lazy newbie and deserves to be flamed just a little for their laziness.
