Hi, my name is redphoeniX, and I'm a lvl 31 nuker. I use a bow currently, but I'm switching over to a s/s so I can use my lvl 32+3 SOS sword.

Now, enough with the pleasantries. Why is this directed at "you high-leveled players?"
Well, it isn't really, much. It's directed at anybody that's higher leveled than another person and acts like a snob. It's directed at anybody that does gay stuff like pop a one-star trade and laugh their ass off, just to make a profit of 10k and ruin someones day.

What I'm saying is that I'm sick of people running around acting like they're better than other people, people running around calling lower-leveled people who have questions noobs. I want all you high-levelers to remember that you ALL were once a noob, asking the same exact questions. When someone talks to you, and asks you, "Hey, could you please tell me what weapon you're using?" Well, you could atleast take 5 seconds (or less) out of your busy schedule to reply back, "Hey, I'm using a Cornu Blade+3." That's it. That's all it takes. And what does the noob get? What does he gain? He gains knowledge and information. What do you get? You get respect from that person. That person will tell his friends sabout what a great person you are. You'll have respect from alot of people.

As opposed to, "Hey, could you please tell me what weapon you're using?"
And after 10 minutes, no reply.
That's so annoying. And I know 99% of the time, it's not becuase you turned chat off. It's because you lvl 5x, 6x, and 7x people think we're noobs and not worth your time.

This came to my attention today when I walked outside of DW and saw a guy called Therarian (Athens), with a really cool blade. He was outside chatting to his other lvl 6x, 70 friends. I said, "Hey, Therarian, you level 70?" And he just keeps on talking to his other friends like I'm not even there. And Therarian is pretty well known, I see his globals every once in a while. I ask again, he ignores me again. I ask again, he ignores me again. So I run off and don't want to act like a pest.

Is it REALLY that hard?! To freaking just say, "yes?" To just take 5 seconds out of your precious time, which you could be using to pop 1-star traders *sarcasm* to freaking say yes, or, "I'm using a Cornu blade."

I have alot of really good friends on SRO, and those people are usually much higher than me, 20-30 levels higher than me, sometimes maybe only 10. I'm friends with them because they helped me. They took the time to explain things to me. There's a girl called Jaique, who's a rich lvl 4x bowman, and she always helps me whenever I have a question. There's another girl called CrazyCanuck, who helped me learn alot of things about nukers, that I wouldn't have known before, and inspired me to become a nuker. There's a guy called Kane555 and Arizistar, who are lvl 5x, 6x, who take the time out of their schedule to help me.

So I ask you, is it really that hard? Whether you believe it or not, half of the reason why we play this game is for respect: Why else do you want to level up? You level up so you be better than other people and get respect.

So who would I respect more? A lvl 70 that takes the time to explain things to me (even something tiny)(, or a lvl 70 like Therarian that ignores me, just becuase I'm a "noob"?

i'm lvl 69, i've played since december 05.
I can understand you'r getting a little annoyed by this, But do consider that if you are lvl 64+ and you get to a town like jangan or DW, you will get spammed with pms.
Mostly just asking for gold, if someone asks what weapon i use i'll reply.
But when someone just says hi in pm I usually ignore them yes.
Cause 9 out of 10 times they ask you for gold, if not spam u for gold. There's also some ppl asking u to lvl them n stuff, i've answered the first few. But now i don't, I ignore all that I don't know and don't ask a direct question.
It's so irritating to pvp @ dw and get like 10 people putting up exchange windows, pmming, spamming..

Oh and yes, I also pop 1 stars, there's not enough 2* out there to lvl up as thief.

is it really that hard to stop asking if you already know?

and being lvl31, you dont know how annoying it can be sometimes. getting 5+ trade requests at a time, being bombarded with PMs asking for gold and stupid questions like "do you bot?" or "can you level me?".

whenever im at JG or DW, i ignore most people unless i know that theyre 5x+. that way, i know they wont waste my time.

look at the situtation from both ways first

im not even at 8th degree yet and going through jangan is already a nightmare. people asking for gold, party requests, other crap, its ridiculous. i'll answer some people that have questions, but the gold beggers, i usually just call them a noob begger and go on my way.

You are addressing two different things here, and I believe that I can address them. [I'm a lvl 70 'snob' as you called it]

**One Star Popping**
This issue has been covered a million times. Thieves need dough and experience but lower level newbies don't dare do more then a 1 star in fear of dying. So what does a thief do? Find one of the only 2 star in the area, kill it, and picks up the goods to pop the lower level 1 stars. This isn't an exploitation, it isn't unfair, and joymax even said in either the help guide or on their website that this was still a game element a 1 star had to worry about. If you don't want to get popped, find a hunter. There's a reason the job is around. I thief because nobody gives a shit about hunting. Newbs don't seem to need us and we are barely appreciated, and if we help, there tends to be nothing in it for us. When Troy just started, I remember being asked all the time to help hunt and I did happily. Now... I just help the occasional friend who asks me to guard him as he carries his load from city to city.

**Snobbiness**
Yes, I do agree, a lot of higher levels can be assholes at times. When somebody asks me for game help I do tend to help them. [I have taught plenty of people how alchemy worked, where to get job suits, where to go for quests and even guided them there, explained the pros and cons of builds, helped people get their skills settled, and explained other random things. I'm a nice guy 8) ] At times though, I do get sick of it. After a day of being begged for 10k, having trade applied to me 50 times, being asked where to get the thief suit, and asked to show my spear to someone I get sick of it. It is at this point that I ignore newbs. I started the game just like you did; as a newb. The only difference was that I started in alpha; I never had anyone 'higher level' to explain stuff to me; I figured it out on my own. Luckily, we have compiled guides and sites where you can get help these days. It doesn't take much time to look it up either...

Try http://sro.mmosite.com
It has damn near anything you'll need to know as a newb.

OMG You have no idea how many times a day someone asks, "Can I see your weapon? Are you 70? How much gold do you have/Can I have some?"

Its not snobbiness, its just that you answer that question over and over and over... and if you are standing there talking to your friends, how annoying is it when someone walks up and starts pelting you with questions irl? :P I sometimes answer, sometimes not. It depends on my mood. THe really annoying part is if I am nice about it, I get a friend invite and the next thing I know, I am trying to explain builds and/or alchemy to some noob with a million and one noob questions. Its not that its a bad thing, its more like, I didnt get to this level standing around shooting the breeze, I level.

I tell all the noobs that ask me silly questions to come here and look it up. :D

Hm what to say? I'm the 7x that doesnt answer back

Its easier. Just like everyone else said

Can't stand around donwang without trade window spams, people begging you for gold, trying to sell you stuff you dont want, asking questions and 'can I see your bow'

If it was an ocassional thing, I wouldnt care. If im not busy managing a guild or shopping for elixirs, then maybe I will. But if im not AFK, I'm usually doing something. And If im hunting every stall for elixirs, I dont apreciate all these people harassing me and asking for things, especially if it involves stopping, taking off my weapon, showing it to you, then ignoring 50 pm's of small talk I didnt ask for.

If you just asked 'should I get demon arrow?" I'd say "Ya." and were done. But noooo they want the ins-and-outs of the entire bow build, and they just won't put it down.

Also don't like how the low levels try to take advantage of us because they know we have money; just because we have money doesnt mean we want to pay 3-4k each for wind 4 or 220k for an elixir. Even prot elixirs selling for 50k in hotan; people in donwang insist I pay 60k-70k just because they know I have it; and I walk away and ignore them

I dont even see a reason for these kids to do that; one wrist might cost you 60k while ours costs 2m. An sos weapon for you cost 3-5m, and ours cost 200m+ so don't cry like your poor. Its annoying.

Did I pop your 20k trade run? Don't worry, next time I need wind 4 you'll make 20 times that off me. And the next time I shout 'buying 20 protector elixirs' get off your butt, go to storage and make my money off me.

For the people asking 'will you hunt for me'? If im going to do something as boring as walking along a camel and killing NPC's for no gain of my own, Im going to do it for my guild and their trade.

Lastly, it really makes me mad when I die in jobs, cuz some begger decided to spam the trade window on me, and I can't move or use pots, so I die

Don't get me wrong I help Noobs alot...EX: a noob ask me for 5k to TP becasue he didnt spam me i gave him 100k...

To answer your question, Thearian is 65. :)

Did you pm him?

Just asked him and he says he had no recollection of the question.

He can be a snob sometimes but is really a nice guy.

Also, what are you doing not training at your lvl?

*tsk tsk*

If you 1* pop for fun, you need a life. I'm not saying you do Pimp, but I just had to say that.

Anyway Amen to this post. The bottom line is: You were all noobs once, so why the hell would you enjoy making another noobs SRO day shitty? You've all asked a 'noobish' question once (noob, by definition, means 'new player': obviously noobs will ask new player questions), so whats the crime in a noob asking you one of those questions when you're higher lvled?

All of you high lvls, you're defending yourselves against things he didn't talk about. He didn't say it was rude to ignore gold beggars. I talk shit to gold beggars. He didn't say it was rude to ignore party request spammers. I ignore them too. He's talking about the harmless, natural questions a noob would ask, such as 'where do I buy void rondo's?', and the asshole replys or lack-there-of delivered back.

I've been a high lvl, almost near the cap, in another MMO. And it would be the same case, noobs begging for stuff, trying to add you and talk to you and getting angry at you when you don't add them back, and asking to see your weapon and then offering like every singe random thing they've got in their inventory for it. I've been through it all. Some of it has to be ignored or nothing will get done. But a simple, harmless question...I would always answer it if I wasn't busy.

Yes we were all noobs once.

But asking questions such as "where is this" or "where is that", or questions about builds can easily be done by researching it yourself. You guys get mad because we won't tell you where things are because you can't even find it yourself.

Anyone that has questions or asks me questions about builds and such, I lead them here. silkroadforums.com. I tell them to read up.

When I started playing, I played with a 1:5 str hybrid bow. Those were the days. But I didn't go around asking people to give me money, I grind, explored, and learned along the way.

Sure there is nothing wrong with asking questions, but you should make an effort to find out the answers yourself.

Q. Why do high levels not want to show their weapon?
A. Because after newbies see it, they ask us for gold. More or less depending on the quality of our weapon.

Q. Why do high levels 1* pop?
A1. For fun. Ha. Ha.
A2. Because you're too scared to do a 2*.

Q. Why do high levels ignore me?
A. We have a chat filter that blocks out everyone under the level of 64.

That's totally true. I tell people all the time 'the time it took you to beg me and all of these people for gold could have been spent training...and earning gold.

You say that people should come here and find the answers themselves to their questions...but not everyone knows about the existence of fan based forums. So naturally, where else would they, or could they ask but in game? Your average person, whom I wouldn't necessarily call a gamer, would assume the game to be the only logical place to find answers to his qustions.

Thearian was probably just grumpy because he still hadn't got his 8th deg SoS he'd been globalling for ALL day.

I'm not a high lvl technically (5x) but probably look like it to a Jangan lowbie. There are measures to avoid the annoyance. I have turned off auto party/exchange. This also solves the problem of being put in the situation where a trade window pops up at an awkard moment. As for the "10k plsssss" requests how hard is it to ignore them and move on? You know they will eventually move on to someone else.

I think also, if you're going to stand around in DW or Jangan as an obvious high lvl then expect to be asked questions. If you don't want to be harassed there are many places that lowbies cannot access where you will never be annoyed.

Having said this, I appreciate that sometimes you know that answering one question will turn into a lecture for the whole game and yes, that IS frustrating. Just redirect them here. :)

Theres always google.

Type in "silkroad online" in google, and boom, srf is the 3rd entry.

Sure the average "person" doesn't know about fan-based forums, but how else would they have have come across the game without being a gamer beforehand.

It's not a matter of lvl, it's a matter of personnality. Ppl ask stupid questions everyday and u dun imagine how the hell high lvls got spammed of " res pls " " 10 k pls " let me go pls "can i see your gears pls " " **** u bit'ch " .

So what should we be sorry to ignore that ? and " what weapon are you wearing " etc, they see it and they are on official website lol
Also what's the point to make trade runs at low lvl when you can make more money and lot of more xp trough grinding ;_; ?

Instead of asking stupid questions, they should read websites/forum,grind and use their brain that's it. :D

what she said...its not that u get ditched for ur lvl, its cause of the repeats..over and over and over..the reason why its easier as higher lvl to talk to a high lvl is cause if a guy with a 32 spear is whispering me, the chance is pretty big he'll ask me a question about how the game works or if he can come thief or joi nmy guild or whatever..if a 64+ comes, I would prolly answer, welll sometimes I dont, but I probably would since i dont expect him to be asking em questions about how the game works etc.

FINALLY. someone gets the point of my post!

You're forgetting something. When a high lvl people get really annoyed of PMs for gold/show things, do you think they still have the mood to answer questions? And through experience with other MMORPG, they would first ask questions...and then they would begin asking for gold...through persuasion.

As you can see it is mostly low lvl people that gives high lvl people the wrong impression of them. If you got the wrong impression, would you still help them although minority of low lvl people don't beg?

If you whine about 1* popping, you need a life.

Geez! guys this is a freaking game get over it.
Popping is a part of the game, i was low level and i used to get pop'ed.
I didn't come here to this forums and start whining!
Everytime i get pop'ed i used to laugh!
Also i reply to newbies when they need help, questions, help getting somewhere or whatever. but it gets annoying sometimes.
Whenever i get to jangan, i have to turn off exchange, turn off party, and make sure my friends list is full.
I help someone when he asks me to escort him on a trade, but i pop sometimes.
I play for fun.And if its going to take me to kill every level 20 doing 1* trade to have fun, then i am going for it.

Hard to stop the surmounting terror.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream.

Okay good thing I've never traded in my SRO lifetime. I'm just defending the people who do complain, cos I can totally see their point of view. And I also see the high lvl point of view, cos, as I said, I've been one of those high lvls in another MMO. And ya I know, if you answer one question, you get bombarded with more often enough. And sometimes they do turn into stupid questions. The other day I had a noob ask to look at my blade. I did put it up on trade, and he tries offering me all this junk for it, so I declined and told him no. He kept following, so I just stopped answering lol. Simple as that.
