that was a long sentence...
for real
The only way tht I know of is if you are behind him watching in his room or house when he connects. Ppl have betrayed friends by taking screenshots and sending them in when nobody was looking. It would also be 'possible' to bot on a different server (where nobody knows you) and do your evil little act in secret like eveldoers do, under the cover of darkness. Beware your evil little brother... Worse things have happened.
A 'No DC Client' prevents from disconnecting while logging in, so if "he" DC'd in game and consistently got back in real quick like, that would be a clue. But not a proof. There are keyloging programs that could be covertly used to tell - but that would be a worse offense than the person using a No DC Client, ya know?
The fact that I know what a "no dc client" is could be used to cast suspicion onto me for instance. Be aware that when I use the word "you" it is used in the plural sense, not the personal. Also know that although I saw a guy play a 'hacker' on TV, I (myself), am not one. We are not amused by comments otherwise.

Usually if they can can Cuss they are using it. But I think quite a few people use it nowadays. If you can't get in to the game, why not just play one that you can Or give in a buy a prem

there is one little trick.
Spoiler!
if you pm a suspected nodc'er
Code:
~~#!I_love_cornbread
and it responds with
Code:
????
it means they are using a noDC client
Gee, sometimes I respond with ??? I guess I 'should' not type that anymore. WTH? Now I'm doing it here???? Does that mean I have a No DC Client for the forum (too)???? Holy sh1t, I typed the word 'sh1t' to myself in my mind and I can read it. Now I know I don't have a no dc in my head because I'm disconnected from it too many times. Tha's jus' 'cause i'm old tho, or 'cause I had another stroke (dam* it, #%!*)
Please understand that although I saw a guy playing a botter on TV, I myself am not a doctor. If it is an emergency, please hang up and dial 911.
I've had long time users of this forum tell me in 'confidential' PM's that they use a No DC Client. Ahhhhh... there is nothing "confidential" about any server. I used to run a 'Christian Chat' room on a Linux disto Server. The thing is, everything was auto recorded to a server side log. Even the PM's, even the things that were said in "private rooms". Would it surprise you to learn that most every group cybers? Okay, maybe not. How about that there is NO SUCH THING AS PRIVACY on the net?
Best practices include making certain subjects TABOO. Being a 'purist' I have no prob keeping my hand from 3rd party programs. It actually detracts from the game (even though many would argue). Have you heard the term, "Gateway drug"? It's like that and I consider smoking tobacco to be in that category even though it is not completely illegal (yet). But before you argue with me, please remember, an analogy is something that lines up in certain (but not all) ways. Thank you for your concern *sigh

a No-DC is a modded client, the client SRO issues has the same MD5,so that means a No-DC client would have a diff MD5, of course then they have No-DC that arn't clients dont they? if they get a return code that doesn't match, shouldn't it be a kick or a ban

By 'they' are you talking about the game ops or developers? I don't think they care, actually. Certainly if they do care, they do not consistently act in a way that shows it. I suspect they are more 'bottom line' than 'purist' and are value centered on money. There are 'server side' and 'client side' packets. I don't know enough to reply about 'MD5' and cannot reply. I have used packet sniffers b4 though. That might be a very good question
How about not focusing on his lack of grammar >.>, hes just asking a question.
And i'm pretty players can't tell, those ppl are retarded, Joymax however might be able to.
Joymax CAN tell. C'mon a user trying to connect twice in five seconds? And repeats? It's right there in the logs. Also I highly doubt someone has 4 laptops ready to go for each time they get 'dc from server'

Well there is one little way. Not always 100% Though.
This only works if you have Xfire.
So your on xfire. Then you see your friend login. Following that, it says *enter name* is playing silkroad online. Usually if they dont have a nodc client then it will say that *enter name* is playing silkroad online alot of times as they have to quit sro to try and get in again. So if someone starts playing and that dosent happen, then you could guess that maybe they use a nodc client. *Or it cud just be premium, best to check *

If they get constant captcha spam from 1 IP and they are monitoring for it.. they can tell.
Here's why I don't use bots or hacks or 3rd party programs (aside from personal morality issues):

Here's what I'd hook as a bare minimum for a bot, and why:
Packet receiving. Screw trying to read directly from memory, which might or might not be detectable. Downsides: You have to reverse each and every packet you want data from, and this can be just as tedious, if not moreso.
Screen drawing. I'd like to be able to display info anywhere and everywhere on the screen. This is relatively simple.
Packet sending. I want to know what the client is doing and when. This also falls to the problem of reversing each and every packet.
Game entry/exit. I suppose I could use packet receiving/sending to detect this, but I want a fool-proof method.
You see? I have 'trust issues'. Respect is given, trust is earned.
He/she/it 'they' admit to unsavory practices including intercepting 'Game entry/exit' data. Ahhhh... no, thanks.
I like following discussions on the WOW Warden detection threads because Blizzard appears to care. Here is a quote to what I mentioned above re: Sony's shame:

"The Warden" (Blizzard detect system) is dynamic server side software. They can change it at will. Bliz mods their software and auto-downloads it to your system at login. Users give permission for 'them' to 'inspect' the entire client side system. Those who sign the EULA agree to the terms. The morality of 'spyware' is a different thread though. I'm posting because as far as I know there is no dynamic server side only software implementation on SRO. I'm no expert though. In other words, client side prevention methods are theoretical fail by design. I'd repeat that 'they' (SRO) don't seem to care as much as 'we' do. The problem inherent to client side is that it is vulnerable to all hacker hooks and client side detection / prevention methods.
Did that make sense? One way is easier than another is what I'm trying to say.
DISCLAIMER: Although I've seen a guy play a hacker on TV, I am not a doctor. If this is an actual emergency hang up NOW and dial 911. Children please do NOT try this at home. No animals were hurt in the production of his tiny tidbit of sirloin steak and it is not warranted to be fit for human consumption. The USDA has not rated this comment and any implication otherwise is disavowed. Sirloin comes from the hindquarters, Buyer Beware.
