Does anyone know the actual chances for an sos, som and sosun to be dropped? Ive played for about 1 and a half years and never had anything drop above +4 :cry:

Well its completely random.
However i think there are some statistics about the chance of it dropping, but i can't remember where i saw it.
However im the same as you. I have never got any soX drop, and the highest i ever got was some +6 lvl 12 pants.

Last year i had a sos drop from a bloodflower. then another sos drop from that same flower spot 1 hour later :)

i thought wtf. I carried on grinding that spot the whole day for another... but it didnt come ^^

If you truly believe botters get more sos drops might one look into the reasons?

Option A. The game can tell who is a botter and who isn't and gives botters perks.

Option B. Botters grind in a way that causes them to gain an advantage in drops. Botters generally grind under their level and for large parts of the day. I always grind above my level and not below as I 1 shot or 2 shot every mob near my level I level up faster. I don't get sos drops. Wonder why. Powerleveling people however I DO get SOS drops as the npcs's I powerlevel people on are below my level. If you want SOS grind down and all day and your chance will match a botter. Also if you properly manipulate your parties average level you can increase your item drop rate or at least it seems to do so.

nah, its random really, i never got a sos drop on this char, and its lvl 68 atm... i mean, i allreaddy killed 7500 pegs only, leaves alone the rest, i should have gotten like 200 sos drops then instead of 0

I heard that the chances were something like, 1 in 1 million for sos, 1 in 5 million for som and 1 in 20million for sosun.

Meaning, for every 1million kills, a sos will drop. Every 5million kills, a som will drop, and so on.

And its not what you kill, its what the server kills. So if you kill the mob that is 999,999, and they guy next to you gets the 1 million kill, he will drop an sos.

This is just rumours that i heard, but you never know - Could be true

My first char at theise lv 27 mobs outside DW i got sos garment chest 5th grade.
I was noob and sold it for .. 200~~400k if i dont remember wrong. Althought someone bought it asoone i opened the stall. And i was thinking why someone did that in like 4 mounths or someting.
Funny moments. OnT, i havnt got any SoS drop since that.

Its odd, I've played this game for a bout two years give or take a month or so. The only sos items i have gotten are two 1 Deg items :banghead: Not 3 days ago i was starting my new Warrior/rogue that i got a female 1 deg SOS light armor chest..

Well I talk about the amout of SOX drops I had... Comparing to my char on Zeus, on which I got 14 SOX, I say that I got ONLY sun garms...

Software doesn't know 'random'. There has to be statistics. Only JM will know the chances.

More like:
SoS 1/100.000
SoM 1/200.000
Sun 1/500.000

it doesnt make sense to have it 1/1000 000 considering that many high lvl quests 3 times repeatable have you kill over 200k mobs. though who ever got the millionth kill would get the sox, that means the servers would be flooded with sox in no time.

think about it this way, the server cap says 3500. of that lets say 500 are stalling/pvping/idling. that leaves 3000 and of that atleast 800 are gold bots (probably more considering how fast servers fill up 3 min after a sudden check or soemthing) constantly one shotting mobs. of the other 2200 player at least 1500 are probably bots also killing mbos several lvls lower so they dont die or wste that much money on pots. so they also one shot ortwo shot. of the 700 left they are slowly hand grinding probably on mobs several lvls higher so they can get more xp.

so with atleast 2k people constantly grinding lets say about 1450 mobs die every 5 sec from one hitting. that means every minute about 17.4 k mobs die. and in one hour 1 044 000 mobs die. this means if the chance was about 1/1000 000 about 25 sox drop a day. remember bots often grind 24/7. this means in a month about 750 sox drops occur in a day. and in a year about 9000 sox items drop. but whats weird is that not even gold bots are full sox, a handful of people are sox, and some peopel after 1.5 years of playing still havent gotten a drop. weird no?

anyways i still beleive liek in a really old topic, some mobs tend to drop more, i've gotten about 3/6 sox drops at tigers and i didnt spend more time there than anywhere else.

I felt proud, I was level 15 Grinding on Stone Tigers, :P

I'm sure there is a %chance for each mob, but that is server side most likely so unless someone hacks JM servers and knows exactly were to look, I doubt we'll ever know.

its random, but there are chances, saying its "completely random" is false, there is a specific chance for everything, if it was completely random, you'd have 50% of the drops be sox or not, while it is random, there are still chances (1/64000 or something).

Probability is not cumulative. Each single mob alone has a probability of dropping sox. Let that probability be X/Y. If you kill X amount of mobs the probability of getting drops does not become Z/Y or X/Z but stays at the constant X/Y, each single mob retains their specific rate of SOX. There are no true random variables in programming. The Probability of getting heads over tails is 1/2, you may get heads ten times in a row but this does not increase your chances of getting tails. The amount of "Misses" or "Hits" won't determine the outcome of the next set. Each mob is treated as an individual entity and unless the server side programming is changed, the probability remains X/Y. Because of the rate of sun, it can very well be 1 in 1,000,000 or .0001%

I think its a little different, imo. I dont think its per mob, but per drop itself. I think that because when your a lower lvl, you have a higher chance of SOS because your getting MORE drops. When you hit a higher lvl, you see less soX because you dont get drops as frequently as you did when you were a little noob wondering how awesome it would be lvl XX

If only it was so easy all the time, I got a LV 32 SOS sword from scorpions and 2 SOS drops from LV 25 earth ghost with in a week

I think and have heard that it depends on the code of ur char and the binary code of the monster you kill,

If your char matches upto 10010101010
then the more perfect that code matches with the mob.. the more high drop u get..
like if u have 10010111010 then its more chances ull get an SOS fersure :)

i dont fully confirm this theory.. maybe it can be bullshit.. but still thers some chance of being it true.

if you see in the help menu in-game the section on alchemy in "reinforce item" the text at the bottom say how each item has a certain percentage to succeed. If this can be for items I think than also there is a hidden "lucky" factor made when you create a character.

I tried an experiment one time when I was making low lvl chars, I lvl them 1-10 and see how many drops they get each run and any soX.. so I must have keep track of maybe 20+ euro characters and saw the average of drops per run is around 7-8 drops , about 25% though had very bad luck and got much less than average and a couple of the character would consistently bring 12+ drops each run, each one of those character did eventually find low lvl sos before reaching lvl 10. As you know many things in the game increase/decrease in proportion to character lvl, we know already that low lvl 1 character get tons tons of drops where lvl 80 may only get a couple if lucky, but what if that inside this proportion there is really a lucky factor of your character to play a part? If you have poor luck as low lvl char is this a bad sign since the rate of drop will only go down? I did not lvl any of these test character further for drops but it was fun to try to play with this idea. One more thing to note, all the characters that I ever got SoX drops, including my actual char I did notice that on those runs I seem to got a higher than usual amount of item drop with the soX. so that's all GL find the treasures :]

I would say 1 out of every 300,000 mobs you kill will drop an sox item.

The average person kills about 1500 mobs a day. (5 hours of grinding)

So that means you will find an sox item once every 200 days. (or about 7 months)
